There's a major difference there.

@Logan...It's USC...that's the main point there. Again, we're overhyping Hoke's recruiting. He could be the best recruiter out there, but in the mind of a high schooler, Michigan is still a far cry from USC. USC can get 5* quarterbacks whenever they want them because they are USC, a dominant QB breeding ground. Just because USC can do it, doesn't mean we have the same opportunity.Jack Slicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08595959968843053808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7587812383588742150.post-75072685228448516382011-02-07T05:26:58.093-08:002011-02-07T05:26:58.093-08:00You people say how a QB wont go to a school where ...You people say how a QB wont go to a school where a 5* guy has a year of eligability left but you seem to forget the fact that USC has done it every year since i was old enough to follow recruiting(only 17 following for 4 years). they get really good qbs every year and then they have their pick of which rich kid they want to start the next yearAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7587812383588742150.post-12885284465358039272011-02-06T21:24:24.001-08:002011-02-06T21:24:24.001-08:00Coney likely won't leave the south. A premium talent, but not sure the Michigan staff will look at him, especially moving to the pro-style offense.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14109510781137820361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7587812383588742150.post-90296101512235929602011-02-06T19:30:16.769-08:002011-02-06T19:30:16.769-08:00Jack Slice is right - Pike isn't coming. Ther...Jack Slice is right - Pike isn't coming. There was no starter blocking Henne when he committed to Michigan - he just had to compete against Guttierez. Pike would be behind both Denard and Gardner next year. Furthermore, Henne wasn't as highly rated as Pike. Finally, a lot has changed since then - first year starters are far more common in general and Michigan's prestige isn't nearly what it was a couple years after the '97 title. Think about the last 4 QB starters before Henne: Griese, Brady, Henson, Navarre - all NFL QBs. Now, its Sheridan, Threet, Forcier, Robinson - probably no NFL QBs there.

Michigan isn't going to get a top 5 national QB right now unless the kid has some sort of tie to the school.Lankowniahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07421144704503213226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7587812383588742150.post-56657364046289802332011-02-06T17:33:41.139-08:002011-02-06T17:33:41.139-08:00First off, if he gets his redshirt like people exp...First off, if he gets his redshirt like people expect, it'll be three years. No top QB wants to see that. Even if it ends up like that, they're not going to go to a school with a 5* QB a year of eligibility ahead of them. People are expecting a high caliber QB to come in next year, it's probably not going to happen. We'll most likely end up with a project guy like Robert Gregory or Wes Lunt.
Second, we were on Henne for a long time and he had M connections. It is in no way the same situation. Your expectations are way too high, people are way over-hyping Hoke's recruiting ability. He's good, but he's not going to land every kid he wants. We have a good class coming this year, but Pike won't be coming here.Jack Slicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08595959968843053808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7587812383588742150.post-6466996469270987572011-02-06T17:11:51.537-08:002011-02-06T17:11:51.537-08:00It's funny to read the back n forth arguments ...It's funny to read the back n forth arguments over Pike on Superbowl Sunday. We've been accustomed lately under RR to expect that we won't land the top prospects, Hoke will change that. He has offers from just about everyone and is looking for early playing time. Depending on DG's redshirt, he'd be facing 2-3 years on the bench if he came here.
