Jarrod Wilson announcement reminder

In case you've forgotten, four star safety Jarrod Wilson is announcing his college choice today at approximately 2:30PM ET. The finalists are Michigan, Penn State and Notre Dame.

Prediction:

The Irish have at least two safeties already in their class, as well as an 'athlete' who projects to be a DB. Wilson is a top player who probably likes competiton, but I doubt he's keen on being one of four safeties in a class.

In theory then, it should be down to Michigan and Penn State. I'm sure he likes the Nittany Lions a lot, but with Michigan parting ways with a silent commit in Wayne Morgan, you have to think that they were extremely confident in getting Wilson. Another advantage is that Jarrod's coach is former UM RB Ricky Powers, which can't be a bad thing.

Decision prediction: Michigan

  3. I think he'll surprise everyone and announce for Michigan State. Who wouldn't want to play for a team that has a 10 strikes and you are out rule? :P

  4. A little nervous about this one. I can see why a kid might pick any of these schools. I hope he sees Michigan as a place where he's really needed and can make a major contribution. Good luck to Jarrod either way. Go Blue!

  6. This would be a great pick up for the 2012 class. It might not start a domino effect (like Kalis committing has the possibility to do) but it would give us a solid prospect at a position of need. It would be nice to see both Wilson and Clark (greyshirt) coming to UofM. I'll be hoping Wilson goes blue!

  7. Benji,

Can you give us some info on Juwan Lewis? I have seen his name all over some web site but I can't read the storys no subsription. I watched some of his videos and all I seen was 3 yards and a cloud of dust did I miss how good he is or should UM pass on him? And how good is Norfleet I have heard good things about him. Do you see either one going to UM?

  8. Jer89... lewis only has three offers and there all mac schools. Norfleet appears to be the kind of back we already have 7 of, and want to change direction to bigger tougher backs. I don't think norfleet gets a offer. Lewis might if there's a spot late and the staff is feeling they have to take a big back. Lewis was at michigans camp so they have all the info on him they want.

  9. Has anyone heard anything about Wayne Morgan recently? He is a top 100 player that UM basically said no to after Standifer and Gant committed to leave room for Wilson. Is he still an option?

  10. Here's an interview with Lewis and his dad from MgoBlog:

3 yards and a cloud of dust may be true, but not quite fair, he didn't seem to have much room inside. He's 5'11" and a solid 200lbs;bench 325;squat 455 i.e. power, durability, strength. However with a 40 time of 4.42 he definitely has homerun potential. I think he'd be a great fit for us. If you read interview you can't help but like him and what he seems to be all about. Good kid, good player, hard to imagine hoke and co. aren't showing more interest. But again with so little interest from other schools they may figure they can wait it out and throw him an offer late. personally i dont like the idea of "well we can't get dunn so lets offer lewis". lets offer both and see who really wants to be a wolverine.

  11. This is why they get the big bucks. I would worry if we had an ongoing series of bad decisions but for now I'm enjoying the flow of things and watching Hoke and co. do work.

  12. @Caleb
Wayne Morgan is out of the picture, after today we will not take any more DBs.
