Dan Voltz Announcement

Illinois OL Dan Voltz will make his college choice on Tuesday, which is bad news for Michigan. He was scheduled to visit Ann Arbor this weekend, but delayed it until later this month.

In other words, Michigan has virtually no chance at all here; although they might have a hat on the table. Notre Dame is the obvious choice here.

Update: Ignore the last line, Notre Dame clearly isn't the obvious choice as Voltz has selected the Wisconsin Badgers in a bit of an upset!

  1. This is getting pathetic. We need some media to jump on this and find out why the hell Hoke hasn't gotten 1 freaking commitment yet?? If anyone knows anyone in the media get them to do some journalism because this is starting to piss me off. Say what you want about RR but he WAS getting recruits, and better ones every year. I hope all you people that only gave RR 3 years are planning on a 7 year plan with Hoke because this is SAD! 3 months ago I really wanted him to attack national top 150 guys, but now I'd settle for just some 3 stars jumping on board! This is bad...

  2. It's March Jordan, calm down

  3. I understand Jordan's concern though. But I think we should give Hoke more time. He only had about 3 weeks to wrap up a recruiting class--what do you expect? Yes we got bunch of 3 star kids but some of them were 4 star kids. It would be hard for recruits to jump on the ship after 3 years of RR fiasco and a new coaching staff in charge. I think when Hoke & co. start pulling off some wins, more recruits will take us seriously.

  4. I also think that DB really had no choice about RR. It would've been worse. RR would've had no momentum/support going into the offseason. The time and patience ran out, and I personally think some of the recruits like D Hart would've jumped off ship after seeing the bowl game fiasco. RR really made his own tomb with his crap DC hires. All his fault.

  5. I'm slightly concerned right now, but its no reason to jump off the Hoke bandwagon just yet. Michigan has a junior day at the end of the month and will be hosting recruits for Spring practices too. IF we enter April without a commit, then I'll be worried.

  6. We will probably enter April with at least one commit. Michigan is not Texas and will not get 20 commitments at their junior day but they are in good shape with a lot of players and once we start focusing on the certain ones more they will focus on us too. The bad thing is that it is hokes first couple of months and they haven't built great relationships with these young kids since they have only just started recruiting them. Give it time for the kids to build a relationship with the coaches and then we will see what happens

  7. Ok so it seems my rant is 2 weeks too early? I appreciate your guy's comments on my rant, except you David, you didn't even defend your claim as to why I am a dumbass. Looks like come April 1st I will have some credibility from people on this blog, but I hope it doesn't come to that and we start racking up some recruits.

Gardner - has it ALWAYS been NCAA's rules to wait until guys are seniors to decide if they get a medical redshirt for years past? That seems obsurd to me.

  8. I really think Hoke won't land top recruits until he starts to win on the field. Beating ND and MSU would help a lot. Recruits are just suspicious of Michigan after the RR fiasco. It is sad but true.

I don't know about the NCAA rule on it and of course it is absurd.

  9. It makes me sick to think about all of RR's excuses and the loser-like face of Greg Robinson--who consistently refused to comment on why his defense was so bad. I am almost sure that Hoke and his staff will do a much better job than the losers. Once we start winning, I think the recruits will start to commit to us.

  10. Thats what I am afraid of. lets face it, these kids have been through so many coaching changes, and scheme changes, I can't expect them to be brilliant under yet another new scheme. I'd like to see some recruting for his type of players, and if we have to win the big ten to start getting good recruits, well we could be waiting a while.

As of today? who are some guys that you all think are locks for end of the month verbals? Benji? who are our best chances right now?

  11. Agreed, I don't see a whole lot happening until the team starts winning. At the end of the day, RR was a big name coach and this was enough to pull in big time recruits despite his troubles. Hoke isn't there yet, but once he starts stringing some quality wins together, and I have full faith that he will, then you'll start to see quality recruits coming in.

  12. North Carolina just released a 4* DT from his letter of intent... We should be after him since we have an available scholarship and its a position of need..
