Questions!

I'm pretty bored right now, got an hour to kill until my soccer game starts, so if you have any questions regarding Michigan Football recruiting, feel free to send them to mgorecruit@live.co.uk, or Tweet them to me here.

On second thoughts, don't send them to my email, for some reason I can't access them right now. So if you're not on twitter, just write them in the comments section below.

  3. I'll admitt I wasnt happy with the Hoke hire but this class has a chance to be special! Benji would you be ok with not getting a stud qb like Pike this year if he got Shane Morris next year? I personally would love to get Devin Fuller in this class.

  4. Personally I'm a big fan of Russell Bellomy, he has some great film. With him coming in as a freshman, and hopefully redshirting, I don't think we have to take a QB in this class. I'd still like to take one, preferably Pike, but as you said, Shane Morris is in the class of 2013 and he's looking like an early UM lean.
I know the coaching staff is recruiting Devin Fuller, but I'd prefer them to take a true pro style QB, as we don't have one on campus yet.

  5. Do you think Hoke will pull off a top 10 class this year?

  6. Someone asked this earlier on Twitter. I don't think so...

The new staff seem to be stellar recruiters, but a lot of prospects will still want to see on field success; and until we achieve this I think it'll be very hard to land a top 10 class.
That said, I think Michigan could probably get in that 15-20 range, which is still very good.

  7. A top 10 class should definitely be in order.... We are in on a ton of 4* recruits and a couple 5* if we dont finish top 10 we wont finish outside the top 15

    ReplyDelete
  8. what position do you think they will put Ron Thompson at and what are the numbers for guys @ each position we'd like to take

    ReplyDelete
  9. How many 5* recruits are we looking at?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Scout.com has us in on 4 but realistically we could probably get 1 or 2 of those both on the OL... ESPN hasnt put their rankings out yet ..Rivals is puting theirs out lil by lil and I know we are in good with Stefon Diggs he got 5* on Rivals..

    ReplyDelete
  11. Stefon Diggs is the only possible 5* guy Michigan is in on, and thats purely on his connection with Blake Countess, he hasn't even visited yet.
Top 10 is pretty unlikely, even with a good year in the Midwest. Of course it depends which recruiting service you go by; UM could sneak in the top 10 of one of them, but no way will they be a consensus top 10 class. If they win 10 games, they might have a good chance.
The scout.com 'schools of interest' lists are rarely updated, so don't get caught up in those.

  12. That rational is a joke!!! Why does everyone assume that we have to win 10 games for us to have a chance on a top 10 class? Lets look at those fighting irish? What have they done lately (last 10 years)? And they still consistently bring in 3-5 5* guys every year!!!!! Let's face it, if these coaches can recruit like we think they can then no need to win 10 games to get good players here.

  13. Please help me understand what the ta do is about Ringer. I don't see it at all. His film is weak to me. I played college ball as did my bro (at Michigan) and we both don't see it.

  14. We need a solid back, positions still wide open. Someone needs to help take some pressure off Robinson. Hopefully he can hit the wide open recievers this year. Lol. Love your blog btw..

  15. Denard Robinson will have no where close the season he had last year. He is not a pocket passer. Could be a long year ahead. Very similar to when RR came in, you need to work an offense around what you have and I dont think Hoke is doing that as well as he needs to. Denard is a special player that doesnt come around to often and highly doubt we will use him to his full potential next year

  16. I believe they will let D-rob run more than we expect. They know what they've got, and i'm sure they will not force him to sit in the pocket and try to be a tom brady. Their job is to win football games not be a pro style offense. sure it will gradually get there, but I believe they'll be more like OSU and LSU offenses. more of a multiple set, Run out of the I and from center, but also do some read option stuff like Pryor does. Just wait and see! I have faith in these coaches! they will not do what RR did and force 5.2 sec 40 yard pro style QB's into a run first spread offense. GO BLUE!

  17. Fitim, its really hard to get a top 10 class. The rankings always favor the SEC and ACC schools because the talent is generally better down south. Notre Dame brought in a good class last year because #1, they're ND, and #2 they brought in a coach who'd just been to a couple of BCS bowl games.
Whilst our fan base might be sold on Hoke, we can't say that about all the recruits. They want to see improvement on the field; especially the defensive guys.
ND also finished the season very strongly, which makes it easier for them to recruit late in the season. You can't deny that the teams winning football games get the better classes! Maybe saying 10 games is a bit excessive, but around eight and bowl victory would really boost our recruiting come January.

  18. It won't be anything like RR first years our offense is sill there, and our D can't get any worse. We'll still win all the games our offense did last year, my lil sister can call bubble screen after bubble screen, qb keeper, quick out...u don't think al Borges couldn't call that? Every team we played knew our offense, they need to make more of a threat than c DR run.. As long as we don't give up 35 a game we'll be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I dk I just dont see them giving Denard those kind of chances to break the big ones. He may get 10 carries max I believe in the new system. And yes teams did know what we are doing and still couldnt stop it. Other than OSU and Michigan State we scored over 28 points every game... RR offense was amazing his defense was just pathetic

    ReplyDelete
  20. What they blew out conneticut and bowling green? Big deal they got spanked in any game that matters...& I hope he only does carry 10 a game and I hope there all on broken plays & he's scrambling. But I kno better, if u think there only gonna run one of the fastest guys in the country 10 times your crazy! But that can't be all they have cause any team with a good D can shut one person down! & they did. Iowa wisconsin Osu msu Penn state miss st. If he can't hit the wide open WR's then their gonna loose all them games again! Although I pray they don't & DR can make some throws down field more than 10 yrds

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ok the offense has nothing to do with blowing teams out? Our offense last year was great, which it wont be no where close this year. And other than OSU our offense put up good numbers against those teams you named.

    ReplyDelete
  22. RR's offense sucked worse than the defense did. Do you people watch football? Name one game where you said wow that offense is going to be amazing. That is against a credible defense. Against Mississippi State, the offense was HORRIBLE! The defense held their own consiering the fact that they were on the field for 80% of that game. SO PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT RR "OFFENSE."
    IIIIITTTTT SSSSUUUUUCCCKKKEEEEEDDDDD!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Amen it did!! Lost to state by 17 Iowa & Penn state by 10, Wisconsin by 20 osu by 30, & miss st by 40. Why would our offense get worse? Players get dumber as they go on?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm not sure how you can say the RR offense was bad, in YPG we were ranked #8 in the country.
In PPG they ranked #25, which isn't bad considering they didn't have a kicker; plus its not like the defense put them in great position often.
All this (489!!! YPG) was done with a first year starter at QB, and only 2 seniors? The numbers next year would have been outrageous. We'd basically be Oregon.
Criticize RR for his defense and his special teams all you like, but don't talk trash about one of the best Michigan offenses in recent years.

To those talking about Denard next year, whilst he won't be having as many designed QB runs, I'm hoping what we'll see a lot more of is him scrambling when the receivers aren't open, catching defenses off guard.

  25. All those yards were put against horrible teams that Michigan used to blow out of the water. The offense was completely stagnant against michigan state, ohio state, and mississippi state. Dont kid yourself either, michigan states defense wasnt as great as everyone made it out to be. when they played alabama, their starters couldn't stop alabama 2nd & 3rd string guys.
You guys need to stop looking at those INFLATED stats that our offense put against shitty teams.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Do you understand football? We scored 28 on Iowa, 31 on PSU, 67 on Illinois who gave up 21 to OSU and 28 to Wisconsin who beat OSU... Wow thats bad numbers against great defenses. Imagine if the WORST defense in the nation could have got them the ball more. The defesne did not hold their own, thats ignorant. They were always on the field because they could never stop someone on third down. Our offense would have been great this coming year especially if Dee Hart came like he said he was when RR was here. Now our offense is taking the ball out of the most explosive player in college football and so yes our offense will be way down from top ten next year. So just because you dont like RR, open your eyes and give credit where credit is deserved.

    ReplyDelete
  27. IOWA, PSU, & ILLINOIS!!!! Is that your litmus test for a good football team?
    WOW!
PSU got destroyed against alabama earlier in the year. As for iowa & illinois, who did they beat? NOBODY!
The defense was YOUNG, on top of running that 3-3-5 bullshit. When they did get a stop, it was usually met with a 3 & out by the unreliable, very sporadic "offense."
The only reason the offense was worth a damn against those crappy teams you look up to, was because Denard is awesome.
I'll give credit to thoses players, cause they played their hearts out when alot of other people would have given up.
And if you knew anything about football, you would have seen a defense giving everything it had against mississippi state, while the offense looked lathargic and incompetant.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You talking about the Alabama national championship team that would whip any Big Ten team? That team? Well Iowa PSU have been a top the big ten the last 10 years so yea I will say they are a good football team. And dont worry Michigan will get their butts whipped next year by Bama too to make another big ten team to get beat by Bama. And yea of course Denard made the offense, thats why RR recruited him. He'd never ever put on a Michigan jersey if it wasnt for RR. Our defense gave up 450 yards a game and 514 yards vs ranked opponents, that wouldnt give any offense a chance to win even the #8 ranked offense in the country that put up good numbers against almost every team except two. Michigan put up 375 yards against Missippi State and gave up 485 yards on defense. HOW CAN YOU WIN WITH A DEFENSE THAT BAD? you understand that? Teams wish they could have a bad game and put up 375 yards of offense and I dc if the defense tried hard, they SUCKED so please stop being the only person to try and give the defense credit. They couldnt stop a 0-11 highschool team. You just have no argument here you can win, the offene was one of the best in the country and our defenst was one of the worst... face the facts

    ReplyDelete
  29. Who's sticking up for the D?....nobody!! They may have put up 375 yards but only 14 points. Running for 260 ypg against conneticut, bowling green, & massachsetes ain't shit!! You blame the D which the whole nation knows sucked, but all the games we lost were cause the offense didn't produce POINTS! which when it's all said & done is all that matters!! Offense was to predictable against capable D's...& they lost 2 EVERY capable D. I would take 250 yards and a 21-10 W rather than 63-52 L 400 yard game anyday of the week. Sure the d needs to step up but it won't do any good if u only put up 7 or 14 on the board

    ReplyDelete
  30. whoever whytemarbull is, says the defense "held their own" bull crap. They were the reasons we lost. Ill agree with you smokey id take a 3-0 win. but its not just running but we had over 400 yards of offense every game except 3. Our offense was great and that was the argument saying it was over hyped. In most games 24 points is enough to win but if you take the games last year that we scored more than 27 points and count as a win we would have been 10-2 lossing to MSU, OSU and then playing in a better bowl game. But we never had a defense to help the offense. Yes thats still RR fault but it def wasnt the offense. Do you see what I am saying? Our offense always put up big numbers but our defense always gave up even bigger numbers? Thats my argument was RR offense was great and like Benji said it was only its first year with his "type" of players. Imagine what it could have been with Dee Hart and more ya know? Now the defenst has to change. But like someone said they were sooo young and key positions were hurt we would have had a better defense this year no matter if it was 3-3-5 or 4-3 because players get better. But I am glad we are back to 4-3 but do wish we still had RR offense. either way and I am sure you guys argee Go Blue!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree w almost all of that...except what I am tryin to say is our offense relied on fast players making plays in space. Most all of RR plays were quik outs or qb keepers and when the D is good you have to be able to beat them down the field as well, not just hope u can juke and out run them. That bein said that is why I think borges offense will be better rounded. & FYI I'm not anti RR, but his offense didn't get the job done when needed 2. The last 2 games of the year were PATHETIC!

    ReplyDelete
  32. & it wouldn't take much for Borges to duplicate RR offense I'm positive we will still c denard run...& of he can throw just a lil better their gonna win more games this year. I garuntee our D will b considerably better. As well on offense seems how we didn't loose anybody. DR will still break contain. His instinct is 2 run & he will, then good luck catching him when your stretched down field. He'll get 30-40 yards per scramble rather than designed runs

    ReplyDelete
  33. we still had almost 400 yards of total offense against MSU... just two mant turnovers and OSU was just bad Ill agree haha but I dont think from the way Hoke sounded in an interview that he will have games over 100 yards consistantly like he did last year. And yea we do need to attatck down field but recievers were so wide open last year due to safties playing up and Denard still misssed them... Now he has to read safties and fit it into tight spots and I dont see that happening. I see a lot of iformation and something i noticed last year was Denard didnt like to scramble as much. He always liked throwing the ball rather than tucking and leaving it seemed like to me. But who knows, I am excited for the spring game in two weeks!
