Amara Darboh Update

Michigan finally has another serious WR option in this class to go along with Aaron Burbridge and Dwayne Stanford! Amara Darboh (W Des Moines, IA), a three star 6'2 195lb receiver (4* if you like scout!), visited campus this week and the general vibe seems to be very good!

He tweeted earlier about hanging out with Roy Roundtree, which is always good to hear. However! The competition will be tough, as he has offers from Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame and more.

I saw on MGoBlog that TomVH stated Michigan is still probably looking for 2 WRs in this class. Personally I think they'll only end up with 1, but now that Darboh is in the mix, two is a definite possibility.

  1. Don't forget they're also in the running for Jordan Payton, Jehu Chesson and Monty Madaris also.

  2. 4 stars if you like Rivals or 247 sports too. :o)
Our current need at WR is speed- hot, nasty, bad-ass speed. We've got elusive receivers for next season, jump ball guys, (drop ball guys,) and more slots than Vegas, but we could use a deep ball threat for 2012. If we take 2 then we'll have 6 receivers waiting for the 2013 class (for now) so I'd rather us take 1 and recruit WR heavily with Morris.

  3. With are last 6 spots I hope we take 2 DT, 2 WR, 1 DE and 1 OL. If we get brionte dunn then I am ok with only taking 1 WR instead. It sounds like he is staying with OSU and we shouldnt pass up a good WR just to see if he might change his mind. First come first serve the way it should be.

  4. Damn, Kiel goes to Indiana. I'm laughing at Saban right now, plus all the okie-bama fans who guaranteed his arrival on the forums.

  5. I am still not sure UM evan needs a WR.I think D and O line are a bigger need.If UM takes one WR its first come first serve if they want 2 the they will be picky on the second one.Payton and Stanford are real long shots or are no shots. So there are 4 guys too look at Burbridge(looks good with a visit this weekend),Chesson,Madaris and Darboh. I am going with Burbridge and Darboh if UM takes 2. Darboh if UM takes 1. I think the coaches will be in Burbridges ear at the BBQ saying commit now or miss out.

  6. WOW!!! Good for him and the Hoosier. Wish them luck except when they start playing UM again.

  7. I may have to edit my earlier comment to add Thompson because he will most likely be a WR. I believe he is going to be at the BBQ this weekend. We will see.

  8. Off topic question (they seem to be answered much better if asked in the most recent post by Benji), since OSU wasn't hit with major sanctions is anyone worried that Kyle Kalis' might be second guessing his verbal commitment and jump ship back to OSU?

  9. NO he is commited to UM and will stay that way. He has said he will stay and continue to recruit for UM. The Lucknut fan base trashed him pretty good and is looking forward to hurting them on the field.Look for Pryor to start trashing OSU if the NFL does not have Sub. Draft just to earn money.

  10. I agree we need a guy with speed to get down field, but I'll say it again, I think we need a guy with size more than speed. We've got a couple slot guys who have 4.4 speed, I want to see a 6'4 6'5 receiver who can get the jump balls. Those jump balls are essential, especially in the red zone.

I think that it is hard to say that with the slot recivers we are ok with speed cause even if they are 4.3 or 4.4 guys they arent big and there are plenty of corners and safetys who are bigger and just as fast. So if we want to get a big guy we should get a bigger stronger guy who is fast enough to run by DBs who are on their heels. Not the huge guys who run 4.7's and cant beat the db down the field

  12. @ Logan. I agree, I would focus on the best of both vs total speed and no height or all height and no speed. Burbidge is 6'2 (decent) and 4.4 speed. Standford is 6'5 with 4.5 speed, and Payton is 6'2 4.5 speed. I'll take any of those and be happy.
I am sort of favoring the talk to two WR's in this class. I just don't have that much confidence in our depth. I'd feel change my opinion if I KNEW roundtree is going to stay, but if he has a monster year, I don't know if he will. That and if Stonum redshirted and came back for a 5th year. However, both possibilities are just that, possibilities.

  13. I am predicting a commit from Darboh by friday. I think he see the writing on the wall. Commit now or hope we still have a spot for you.

  14. I have recently taken a closer look at Stanford and I do not like what I see. He does not run like he has 4.5 speed, he seems much slower and normally times slower (4.7 range). I don't know how to describe it, but he just doesn't seem like a fit for Michigan (personality not ability). He has also been vastly overrated, scout just proved this by moving him back from a top 10-15 WR to a mid 30s WR. I am not an insider to 247 but there was a story paywalled that talked about Burbridge's current academic work. If and when he looks like he could qualify for Michigan I think he will immediately jump on board, who knows it could maybe be this weekend.

  15. Yea I think if I could pick, I'd take Burbidge and Payton/Darboh.

  16. If I could pick I'd want Burbridge and Powe.

  17. Anyone know if the Butch Davis firing helps us with any recruits?

  18. I think by Burbridge taking the time and putting in the extra work to try and qualify academically for Michigan says he is all blue otherwise he would of already commited to MSU....

  19. I'm pretty sure there was a big time recruit who liked Michigan, but was also a big NC lean, I cant remember who it is though.

  20. Has anybody heard anything about Stefon Diggs? Everywhere I check he has Interest in Michigan, and he played HS ball with Countess.

  21. Garmon might be it. Thanks Jer89.

  22. @lalon
I'd shat a brick if Diggs were interested in us. Earlier(back in march) he said he'd like to visit michigan, but I highly doubt he will. I'd say Miami, Maryland and Florida are his top three schools.

  23. Greg Garmon, thats who I was thinking of.

    @Davon
Yea, that makes sense since I havn't heard anything about him that was Michigan related. That'd be sweet though! I watched his 7 v 7 and he was dominate.

  24. With Butch Jones firing I wonder how JJ Patterson feels and if he will stay committed. He was ranked higher than Eric Magnuson. We are still looking for OL and he could be ripe for the picking? Anybody got any info on him?

    Wt:310 lbs
    40:5 secs
    Bench Max:445
    Squat Max:465

#7 OG on rivals. scout has him as a DT @ 20 something but lists of weakness is intensity and ability to change direction

  26. TomVH..... "I spoke with 2013 ATH Dymonte Thomas tonight and he told me that his father is now able to go to the BBQ at Michigan on Sunday so they will be attending.

Dymonte told me that Michigan is number one for him, and he also happens to be Bri'onte Dunn's cousin. "

    dope.

  27. What is the chance Keith Marshall, Nelson Agholor, or Devin Fuller would choose Maize and Blue? Why aren't the Michigan staff pushing hard for them?

  28. an update on Amara Darboh is very difficult to find, I actually looked for it on my favorite per head wagering blog, and I did not find it, only on here
