Adolphus Washington Update

Four star DE Adolphus Washington has apparently named a top five of Michigan, Alabama, Miami, Michigan State and Kentucky, in no particular order. The key thing about this list: no Ohio State...

Looking at this top five, I think it's pretty clear that Michgian will be near the top of it, if not the outright leader already. Washington is thinking of visiting campus at the end of July with Dwayne Stanford, and if that goes ahead, I'm pretty confident that Michigan will be his clear #1.

The only issue with Washington is his decision timeline, and whether Michigan needs another DE, assuming they take Chris Wormley before him.

  1. Looks like Michigan is not getting a QB this year. Maty Mauk commited to Missouri and Gunner Kiel top 4 does not have Michigan in it right now. Cant say I am surprised. Not sure why so many people thought Michigan actually had a good chance at Kiel just because he visited. Would you go to a school knowing next year a better QB than you that has already beat you out in a camp is coming?

  2. How can you say UM will not be getting a QB? It's the beginning of July for crying out loud. LOI isn't until Feb 2012. Recruiting is far from over. You are right that UM has not yet landed anyone they have targeted and you might be right that UM will eventually not take a QB. But, UM has plenty of time to target others under the radar and just cuz a kid verbals doesn't mean that's where he's going to sign.

  3. we should use that spot for devin fuller.

  4. Devin Fuller is an interesting prospect, if Denard plays really well and has a heisman like season then I feel that we have a great chance with Fuller. But if Denard does not play well, then I don't see us having a good chance with him.

  5. Kentucky? Miami? Sparty? *snicker

  6. I stopped paying attention because Kiel never told anyone anything, but how is Michigan not in Kiels top 4? He had a top 5 of Oklahoma, Missouri, Indiana, Michigan, and Alabama and now Mizzou has a qb. Has he dropped Michigan and announced another in his new top 4?

  7. I think we are way past the point of a QB for this year, Bellomy will be fine. As for the rest of our commits: Kalis, Wormley, Washington, Stanford, Payton, Diamond, Pipkins, Wilson, and a surprise in Garnett/Peat.

Also, I simply feel like Bri'onte Dunn is sold on being a Buckeye and we won't be able to steer him away.

  8. This is more directed at some of the talk from the previous post about 2 WR's in this class. If Washington and Stanford were to drop, it could push Payton over the edge, either to michigan or to somewhere else thats going to have room for his "fab five" whoever they maybe. thoughts?

  9. Sorry I meant to add that burbridge and ronthom might be lost causes at this point. we'll be full up for sure by the time AB's grades are settled and if RT hasnt realized yet that he wants to play with Shane Morris in the future, then he never will. Don't they play in a lot of 7v7's together?

  10. Does anyone know when JARROD WILSON is Announcing tomorrow????

    ReplyDelete
  11. 2:30 pm according to TomVH. Hopefully he goes Blue! Also, did anyone see that Rivals gave Jeremy Clark a 3-rd star? Clearly Hoke saw something and now other ppl are starting to catch on.

  12. Jerrod is announcing either at 2:30 or 2:45, I have heard both.
And yes Ronald is on Shane Morris's 7v7 team.
I have a feeling that Clark is going to be a consensus three star, he has the size and speed and people will start to notice him now that he is commuted to Michigan.

  13. Jaleel Johnson to Iowa, and Pittman is sounding like his recruitment is still open. Sparty is freaking out right now. They could've landed one of the top defensive lines in the country this year with TSIO on the ropes.

  14. What's everyone think of Martin & cambell on the inside?? I think their going to compliment each other very well..hope hoke & mattison have the D ready to go, and much improved. Should be a good season.

  15. Both will be awesome this year with RVB and Roh on the outside and Ryan lining up every once and a while. Campbell and the extra 1-2 outside rushers mean Martin will rarely be double teamed. Him 1on1 is just ridiculous.

  16. @michael
Screw those mid west kids, the mighty Spartans recruit nationally. This is clearly show by all of their highly touted national recruits. Here is the list of non mid west recruits and their rank:
Nick Tompkins- scout #62 RB, rivals #10 all purpose back (for some perspective Dennis Norfleet is the #7 all purpose back), Espn #58 rb with a mind blowing rating of 75!!
MSU knows what they are doing, they got this in the bag.

  18. Here is what Adulphus Washington had to say when asked about his recruitment up at "The Opening"

“It's going good; I'm really liking Michigan State right now because I've been talking to Se'Von (Pittman),” he said. “Me and him really like the same kind of things so I'm going to start listening to them heavily.”

In addition to being close to Pittman, Washington is very close with Taft High teammate and wide receiver Dwayne Stanford. The two are planning on taking most of their official visits together and the possibility they play at the same college remains high.

“We're definitely trying to go to the same school,” Washington said. “We're probably going to take an official to Alabama. I'm probably going to go to Michigan State but I'll have to talk to him to see if he wants to go. We'll probably take an unofficial to Kentucky and stuff like that.”

  19. that doesnt sound good for us

  20. State won't get Washington and Stanford, they may not even end up with Pittman.
"I do want to say I'm finished but then I don't because anything can happen," Pittman said. "I want to be at Michigan State and I want to be a Spartan but the process isn't over and things might change between now and the time for me to sign."

    ReplyDelete
  21. WTF is Pittman saying? If he wants to be a SPARTINA as he says he does, then why keep the process open?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Pittman is saying this stuff to keep his options open, he will decommit and go to Michigan if they accept him and have room and he will go to osu if they are not hit hard with violations.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Pittman will decommit by the end of the season. He will most likely end up at a SEC school. He just commited to MSU to get back at coach Hoke and UM for not taking him a couple of weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  24. How bad of shape would UM be in at the QB postion if they waited one more to fire Rich Rod? Maybe no Shane Morris?scare isnt it?

  25. Well if the last AD had hired Harbaugh when he was stumping for the job we might've been +Andrew Luck.

  26. For those of you who were worried about Terry Richardsons speed, he just ran a 4.55 at the opening which is nearly a quarter second faster than his original time on his Espn profile. You can see all of the combine numbers for commits an targets at the opening on the mgoblog.http://mgoblog.com/diaries/tomvh-sparq-scores-opening

  27. U can watch "The Opening" on ESPNU today-saturday

  28. I was watching "hey rookie: welcome to the NFL" on NFL network, and they were showcasing some guys from a few years back, including Maurice Jones Drew, and it got me thinking. How do you feel about Vincent Smith, adding another 20lbs? He's got he speed and "shiftyness" he's just lacking size. they're both 5'7, VS is just under weight. Even though VS weighs in around 180, if he adds 20 lbs, he could be bulky enough to handle the work load. scenario reminds me of Hart.

    ReplyDelete
  29. ^^^^ VS has also shown he can take a beating, I don't remember him missing much playing time after taking so many hits.

  31. After we heard rumours that Seumalo might want to play with Magnuson, a few of us on here kept asking.....Why haven't we offered this guy and we never got any answers and then he committed to Oregon State:

A few Twitter notes from Justin Hopkins of 247 Sports who is at "the Opening" this week.

"I expect Oregon State commit Isaac Seumalo will be a big factor next two days at #TheOpening he's better than he gets credit for."

    and

"OT's Erik Magnuson, Kyle Murphy, Isaac Seumalo spend a lot of time together. Magunuson certainly the "joker" of that group."

Can't we sway this kid??? At least throw him an offer....Oregon State???

  32. I'm sure having his dad as an assistant coach at oregon state definitely influenced his decision.

  33. yeah that guy who commented in the first place "balla4show1985" is totally right about that, I actually read a similar opinion by one of the commentators on per head service sports blog, maybe it's the same guy lol
