Greg Brown, a freshman DB from Ohio has left the program this week. Brown was the first commitment of the 2011 recruiting class and enrolled early last spring. The decision comes as a slight surprise as we heard positive reviews of Brown during the spring, and he even featured in the spring game. I guess the emergence of Blake Countess just pushed him too far down the depth chart. Regardless, all the best to Greg.
In regards to scholarship numbers, this does not push up the figure of 26. If you recall, Michigan started the 2012 recruiting class with very few available scholarships, so this transfer, like Christian, Barnett, Stokes etc, just helps us get to 26.
I would like to wish Greg Brown the best of luck with what every he decides to do with his life. This is to bad for UM but if your hearts not Blue then it's better to move on.
ReplyDeleteAny chance Payton commits today? Wishful thinking right.LOL
Whats going on with Banner visit to ND? Does anybody know?
While it always sucks to lose a player, especially one who showed some promise, I guess I'd rather it be at the expense of emerging star Blake Countess than he just doesn't want to be here anymore. Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteWhat was Paytons decision date? Sometime this week right?
Banner has stated he like his OU trip the best. I say he stay's out west. Payton will pick between UM and ND tomorrow. I'm starting to wonder if we will get that 6th lineman.
ReplyDeleteI hear Jordan Payton maybe changing is mind? ND maybe the front runner now. I hope the coaches are targeting other WR?
ReplyDeleteI read that UM is taking 26 recruits(I hope this is not true because I believe there is at least 3 people that will be transfer in the off season) 28 will be better because UM is in need of some key recruit at key positions RB, WR and O line. If the 26 is correct this is going to change some decision dates. I think if some recruits are not ready to make a decision yet this will hurt UM recruiting class. This will hurt if UM miss out on the likes of Banner, Garnett, Wright, Diamond, Dunn and a WR or two. I have my finger crossed and I have faith in the coaching staff to do whats best for UM.
Payton better not go to ND. He's my favorite target as WR for a while now, and has been a Michigan lock imo. I'd much rather see him catching balls from Gardner and Morris than whatever ND QB ends up being awesome in college and a bust in the pros (cough brady quinn and Jimmy clausen cough)
ReplyDeleteWhen are these recruits going realise that ND is way overreated? I thought Kelly was going to be a good coach there but now I am not so sure. These recruit need to also realise Kelly may not be there buy the time they get to play.

ReplyDeletehaha Kelly recruited my friend Jason Chomic to play for Central. Before Jason even got there, he bailed for Cincinnati, soon as he got to Cincinnati, bailed for ND. Not saying he'll bail for ND, but I don't think he is ready for that big of a school, he hasn't proven it enough at the lower levels.
ReplyDeleteThe news on Zach Banner definitely hurts. If Oklahoma lead Michigan, then by the time he's done with visits UM could be 4th. USC and Washington are still to come, and the Huskies do a very good job of keeping hold of in state talent.
ReplyDeleteAs for Payton, he's not sure if he's announcing tomorrow yet, and I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a few more days/a week over it. Btw, even if he does delay the decision, it doesn't mean that it's definitely ND!
oh another one who leaves the program, some sports bookmakers say that they are getting worried about these leaves and I cannot blame them!
