NSD Blog

Running commentary of all the major news from signing day in one post, continuously updated.

11:15AM ET: - Michigan's day is affectively done, so I'm gonna take a nap! We've lost out on Fisher and Cooper, gained Clark; waiting on Barnett and Willingham in the next few days.

11:07AM ET: - Tim Jernigan to Florida State, their class is pretty sick already

10:33 AM ET: - Kellen Jones has sent his LOI in

10:27AM ET: - Scout.com says Darian Cooper has committed to Iowa. Seriously, why is everyone announcing their decisions BEFORE their press conferences?

10:12AM ET: - I honestly don't understand how Clemson recruits so well

9:57AM ET: - Blake Countess LOI has been faxed in (top rated player in the class)

9:50AM ET: - Dallas Crawford signed with Miami, Chris Bryant signs with Michigan

9:32AM ET: - Thomas Rawls and Raymon Taylor have faxed in their LOI's

9:29AM ET: - Things have changed for Leilon Willingham, everyone seems to think Colorado is now the team to beat! We'll find out tomorrow.

9:14AM ET: - Lamar Dawson to USC

9:13AM ET: - Chris Rock and Brennen Beyer have both signed

9:06AM ET: - Aundrey Walker to USC, Cardale Jones to Ohio State. I think Cardale's signing will be pending academics.

8:55AM ET: - Jack Miller and Russell Bellomy have sent in their LOI's

8:33AM ET: - Kris Frost's LOI is in at Auburn

8:28AM ET: - 247Sports is reporting Frank Clark to Michigan. A little ahead of schedule, but they have quotes etc, link here. *Confirmed Commit*

8:22AM ET: - Tamani Carter, Tony Posada and Delonte Hollowell have all faxed in their LOI's.

7:51AM ET: - Jake Fisher to Oregon. Shame.

7:50AM ET: - Jake Fisher's choice will be released to the public today, but he'll announce tomorrow, look out for it soon!

7:47AM ET: - Edward Aschoff tweeting that Florida is 'probably' out for Jake Fisher. There's one less school to worry about. Rivals is reporting that Fisher has made his decision, but won't announce until tomorrow. *General consensus says Oregon*.

7:39AM ET: - Of the Michigan targets, there's a strong chance only Clark and Cooper will be announcing today. Clark around 10:00-11:00, Cooper at Noon.

7:25AM ET: - Cyrus Kouandjio is still set to announce around 12:00 ET, which means Darian Cooper will be around then too.

7:22AM ET: - Jake Fisher's announcement has been delayed, not sure when it will be now

5:06AM ET: - Cyrus Kouandjio has dropped Iowa according to ESPN, so one of my predictions is already wrong; however this can only help Michigan with Darian Cooper.

- Multiple sources are claiming that Leilon Willingham has delayed his announcement until tomorrow, so there's one less thing to look forward to today.

  1. Anyone expecting any surprises like last year when Demar Dorsey picked Mich ?? We could have used him definitely by the way

  2. Doesn't look like there will be a surprise today, unless Darian Cooper picks us. I think the coaches might just settle for banking the scholarships for the 2012 class.

  3. Jake Fisher really disappointed me ...He must knew he didnt fit in a power football scheme ..But o well

  5. Benji, were are you getting the info on Willingham now and Colorado ?

  6. There was a rumor yesterday that Willingham was leaning towards Colorado, I didn't take much notice then. But if you look at his Facebook today there are hints favoring CU. Colorado fans seem very sure too.

  8. Dang that would have been a good lB class, Morgan,Clark,Poole and Willingham

  9. Can someone please explain to me how Auburn is still able to except commitments from players? When Frost commited they didn't have scholarships available. Since then I think 3 players have commited.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It's been more than three since Frost. SEC RULES

  11. If given the choice, I would have taken Bryant over Fisher every day of the week and twice on Saturday. Much better fit for for us.

Ps. How many good players are going to get burnt by the SEC before recruits start to wise up?

  12. Thanks Benji on the facebook on Willingham.

  13. I think that shortly in the future the NCAA will be addressing the over signing. They are going to have to at some point.

  14. The SEC only recruits well because they dont have High Academic Standards..The only school in the SEC that does is Vanderbilt and we see how horrible they are yearly..The SEC can get that recruit whos grades are borderline while you cant recruit them at Mich or many other Big 10 schools because they wouldnt qualify..

  15. The thing on over signing ..If a school signs 22 players last year ..They can over sign by 3 this year just as long as they enroll early and then they will be counted against last years class... So forth and so on ...Now if they are signing 35 40 players each year then thats different

  16. When does 2012 recruting list for rivals/espn/scouts come out ?????

    ReplyDelete
  17. If you mean rankings, I believe Scout.com has already released a list of 100 four star players. Just type '2012 scout 100' into google.
ESPN has released their 2012 watch list, but almost anyone can get on that.

  18. Hey Benji, everyone wants to be the first one to break the news. Newspaper article out of Washington DC reports Cooper will pick Iowa. He has some high school teamates there also, plus we came in to late. 2012 we will get our share of 2 DT's for sure. A must is O'Brien.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah, O'Brien will be a top 3 player in the state at a position of need, so he should be a top priority.

  20. Benji,
Amazing job keeping this blog updated! Especially for us older alums not yet on Twitter.

  21. Does anyone know if Fisher and Cooper have actually sent in there LOI?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Next years class should be really special, T-Rich, Royce, James Ross, Wormley, O'Brien, Jordan Diamond and many others... Can't Wait Go Blue

  23. Benji wake up! Just read on the freep that Barnett is anouncing at 1:45 today....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Chris Barnett is about to fax his LOI to Arkansas or Michigan according to scout.com

    ReplyDelete
  25. Barnett to Michigan according to Rivals...

  26. We will get a ton of good defensive players(maybe offensive) with great recruiters like mattison and hoke. Then you think of the guys on the defensive side of the ball in 2012 and you mine as well pass out from excitment. So if we can land a dangerous RB or two and a big wideout we will be contending before you know it. So happy to say I'm a Wolverine fan.

    Go Blue !!!!!!

  27. Barnett is coming to the BIG HOUSE ! Rivals announced it minutes ago .

  28. See what happens if you go to sleep!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anyone realize that on scout they have lelion willingham's pic in the spot for barnett

    ReplyDelete
  30. Offense will come without a doubt, whether it be Denard as QB or Devin, if we can pit together a top 5 defense in the conference will be definately be able to compete.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Scout has Willingham verbal to UCF, is that true? all the other sites still has it open. I didnt think UCF was even in the picture.
