Changes to the Ideal Class

The first change to the Ideal class is its name; from here on in, it will simply be the Projected Class. Now, onto the real changes.

- Yesterday I did a pretty big post about DE recruiting, and one DE in particular, Adolphus Washington. Basically with him deciding at the UA All American game, certain things would need to happen for there to be space in the class for him, such as Michigan only taking one 'true' DT.

Given the recent rumblings about Michigan being in a good place for Washington, I've come to the conclusion that this one DT thing will probably happen. With that one DT hopefully being Ondre Pipkins. However UM really needs more DTs, so logic states that Matt Godin would move inside to tackle, giving them two for the class, and in the mean time create room at SDE for Washington.

And thus, Adolphus Washington, the second best player in Ohio according to ESPN, is now in the projected class!

- Unfortunately, this means Jaleel Johnson is now out, but then again we haven't heard a whole lot from him recently. We'll see where things stand with him if he visits this summer.

And thus, Adolphus Washington, the second best player in Ohio according to ESPN, is now in the projected class!

- But wait! If Washington is in the class, then that means Dwayne Stanford has to be in as well! He now replaces Aaron Burbridge, who still has the academic hurdle to cross. Stanford and Washington still plan to be a package deal as far as I know, and whilst most package deals don't work out, they both

  2. Benji,
Do you think matt godin would want to de-commit from michigan since he will be forced to be a DT even though he plays DE?

Is there still a silent OL commit not from the mid west or was that Magnuson.

  4. Excellent. *Rub's hands together conspiratorially* It's all coming together as planned.
Benji- If (when) Wormley commits would Washington likely silent commit? I know he'll announce at the All American game, but would likely decide earlier than that. Would you expect him to get spot "maybe 26" Hoke was talking about or would maybe-26 happen for a signing day 5 star if at all?

  6. Get rid of Godin to clear space for Jarron Jones or another DT. I wouldn't worry about landing a QB, especially if it will cost of a prominent defensive player.

  7. Can people stop saying we should get rid of kids already committed. When a player commits to a school then that means the school and player are committed to each other. Remember when dee hart screwed us and went to alabama, it was unfair to us. The same rules apply the other way around, it would be unfair for us to recruit a kid and say how we really want them to come to Michigan then a few months later go back and tell them we dont want them anymore. Dropping him would also look bad for michigan, we already offered his 2013 teammate, how would he trust Michigan after that. If you want to have your school constantly be unfair and lie to recruits to pull in the top classes, then I suggest you find another team.

I think they should get rid of Chris Bosch so they can sign guys at more than the veterans minimum. They certainly aren't ever going be able to draft anyone. Plus LBJ and DWade didn't have enough gas to make it through one season, after 2 or 3 they'll have Kobe-Bryant-mileage on their legs and then Riley will be screwed paying those 2 twice what they're worth at the tail end of their contracts to only play 20 soft minutes a game shooting bricks.

  10. My opinions are generally considered more shady than the average MGoBlog poster and I generally get punished for it. Personally I have no problem with St.Saban Hospital type tactics but I draw the line at dishonesty. Telling a guy that he has a definite spot in your class and coming to an agree only to later kick him out of the class or worse, get him on campus then not have a scholly for him is criminal and should never be supported.

  11. Hoke will not and should not send a kid packing. We teach our kids about committment by standing by our own to them. We extended the offer to Godin because our coaches saw something. Godin pledged himself to us. Now we do our part unless he becomes a total ass, gets dirty, becomes an academic waste of breath or becomes a felon!!

Yeah, I felt like going off on him, but I figured that I could find a funny way to point out that Michigan Football is not a pro sport where we just get rid of people like they're under contract. P.S. We won't know what the final roster is till NSD in February I imagine. Hoke said we could take up to 26 kids (with some being early enrollees) so I imagine that after the attrition they're expecting happens we'll know if we have that one last spot left for an NSD caliber holdout, or to swing a commit away like Kalis. Seems like every year top national recruits can't really decide until NSD anyways.

  13. Erik Magnuson was right, I haven't heard of Isaac Seumalo, but he could be just as good an offensive line prospect as any other we target besides Jordan Diamond. He and Magnuson want to play together, and (even better) Seumalo is a dedicated OG. He ranks well on all the sites: ESPNU 150, Rivals 250, ect. ect. but getting a true guard in this class is important. With the coaches offering more and more kids (I think we're at 170 offers now) this late one could be huge now that Magnuson has brought him to the coaches attention.

  14. Magnuson is a cool name. And mocking stupid posts about dropping commits by paralleling college football to the NBA is okay with me. Also Cinnamon Toast Crunch is delicious. Just the facts.

  15. Mark, that's actually a really good way of looking at it, saying that Michigan is committed to the prospect just as much as the prospect is committed to Michigan.

And Ryan, Jarron Jones probably won't even visit anymore, so don't hold your breath for him.
