The last DB...

...will not be Armani Reeves.

Michigan has one spot left in this class for a defensive back, and it looks like they are determined to take a true safety instead of another corner; a good decision in my opinion. First they parted ways with silent commit Wayne Morgan and now it looks like they've done the same with Armani Reeves, who has named a top four which does not include the Wolverines.

Jarrod Wilson seems to be the most likely candidate to fill the spot, and he could be deciding soon as he's visiting the final school in his top three (Notre Dame) this weekend. He's already been to UM and PSU, and we know he really liked UM, so I'm pretty hopeful about this one.

Morgan and Reeves are two very good prospects, so clearly the coaching staff is reasonably confident of getting their man, as you don't just turn away talent like that without a strong alternative in place.

  2. Hoke and Co. are consistently demonstrating that they want guys who want to don the Maize and Blue, and are all in with the complete Michigan man concept and reality.

They would rather take a gung ho Standifer, than wait around like a pimply faced prom date wanna be, praying a guy like Morgan finally graces them with his divine selection.

As someone who has hired a lot of very highly educated, and highly paid associates, I can tell you the quality I seek most in a candidate: A motor.

All successful individuals have a finely tuned, and high performance motor. Hoke and Co. are looking for same. Call it the Michigan Motor, or the Motor City Motor, or whatever you wish.

Now they are searching for a beast of a safety.

A safety with a Motor City Motor. Hat shuffling prima donnas need not apply.

  3. Benji, Is there a chance Michigan will loss out on the top O-Linemen guys like Diamond they have been going after due to kids committing before them. I have heard alot of O-linemens names popping up all over the place. And if there is only 3 places left who do you thing will fill them first. Not the wish list guys I am talking the true O-linemen Michigan will get.
I am thinking Magnuson,Diamond and someone that comes out of nowhere.

  4. Diamond is visiting again and we're still his leader by all accounts, and Magnuson is visiting this weekend too and will attend the "throwback" jersey unveiling. If someone commits before they do it's likely they'll jump at the chance. The ones to worry about are the ones who want to decide after next season ends. You can pretty much write those few off barring a miracle or more "silent" committing down the road.

  5. I think Diamond will silent commit this weekend.

  7. Shane Morris is already reeling in WR for us, Laquan Treadwell... who already loves michigan... was talking to Morris on Twitter. Morris asked him when is he going to commit to UofM? and Treadwell says as son as he gets his offer. he also plays Basketball...

    LaQuan Treadwell

    WR, So., Crete-Monee

    Stats: 58 catches, 811 yards, 7 TDs.

Bio: This season's youngest all-area athlete was also the No. 1 guy in receptions as he became the go-to target for Warriors QB Jaylan Bailey. Treadwell didn't limit his contributions to the offensive side -- as a defensive end, he registered 10 tackles for loss and six sacks, forced five fumbles and recovered two.

  10. OFF TOPIC

    Today's ESPN Poll

"Should College athletes be allowed to profit off their star status"

The only BIG 10 state to say yes......you guessed it "Ohio"

  11. I would like to go on a little rant here after reading today that Pryor's lawyer has compared college football to slavery. Last I checked nobody is forcing these kids to be there and there wasn't anyone standing next to them with a whip forcing them to sign their letter of intent. They are free to leave at any time.

If they were to add up the cost of not only their schooling, but their health care benefits, access to top notch coaches, trainers, doctors and training facilities and the value of having a platform to showcase their skills for the next level, the dollar amount associated with that would be very high. I am sure that the average wage earner would have a very hard time paying for all of those things for one year, let alone a 5 year period. Some of these guys need to pick up a history book and stop disrespecting their ancestors with the slavery comparison. Perhaps they need to talk to a parent or grandparent to find out what the civil rights movement was all about before spouting off at the mouth about how hard they have it and how the man is keeping them down. What a joke.

  12. So the initial top 25 class rankings come out today on ESPN ... Any guess where Michigan stands ?? I say #3

  13. Kudos GBC

Read that last night and I thought that it was offensive......I can't imagine others wouldn't. Slavery and the Holocaust are among the countless topics that we today should be thankful that we can't draw parallels on in our lives.

On a lighter note, that same lawyer has finally cleared the air. He said that Pryor only used loaners and that there has been no wrongdoing with regard to cars. He has also cleared "100%, 8 of the 9 players at the tattoo shop (paraphrased)" and also cleared Pryor on the "signing for cash scam". Now that we know tsio is clean......let's just get back to football. Benji.....sorry for the off topic rant but I love that some of us here just love to chat while waiting for news from you.

  15. I take that back ill say # 1 Texas #2 Florida State # 3 Miami #4 Alabama #5 Texas A&M #6 Michigan

  16. UMFAN323

I think we go number 4 behind Texas, Texas A&M, and Alabama (not necessarily in that order).

    On a good ranking note:
Scouts had us finish at 24th last year. Based on their "ranking formula" we are only two 4 star recruits from passing our final score last year.......looking good on Scouts

  17. Well it just posted and I was right about the 6th spot but they had Florida in the top 5 and I had Miami

  18. Jim Shurburtt (247) just started a blog indicating that we should stay tuned for good news!!

  19. Wasn't even thinking of the Floridas.....good call. Look at USC.....see tsio has nothing to worry about. Schollie losses need not affect recruiting

  21. This is only the early ESPN class rankings too. By the time FSU and others get the same # of commits as Texas the board will look different. Michigans kids were undervalued by ESPN compared to other sites and yet we're still in the top 10. Our 247/Scout/Rivals classes will be even better and help us get to a very high consensus class.

  22. talking about that one spot left, I thought that Michigan was going to take some time and hire a very good defensive back after what I read on this price per head bookmaking site
