Diamond Decision

OT Jordan Diamond will announce tonight at 8PM ET, between UM, Arkansas, Auburn and Wisconsin. It's hard to say where he's going, but I'm not as confident as earlier in the week. Hopefully UM will land one of Kozan and Diamond, but really in recruiting there is no guarantee. A couple months ago I picked him to go to Wisconsin before UM came back into it, but maybe the SEC has lured him in?

I'm going to guess Arkansas because Wisconsin has lost a lot of staff, and Auburn isn't a very good program when they don't have Cam Newton leading them.

There will be no live blog for fear of disappointment.

  1. Come on Benji!!! Have some faith! Didn't you seen the grin on Hoke's face when a reporter asked him if he was expecting anymore recruits in this class?! Have faith in Coach Funk and Hoke!

  2. We lost out on a recruit because we were too far from home, here's hoping we get one because we AREN'T too far from home. GO BLUE!!!

  3. I have hope but not a lot. UM could really use both Diamond and Kozan. If I had to guess it's 50/50 between UM and Sec. I am not real sure what he meant by his tweet" I will shock the world".

  5. After listing to Sam Webb this morning I don't have high hopes.

Any chance Kozan is waiting to see if Diamond picks Michigan? Maybe he's worried about too many OL in this class?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Kozan will be the only C we take this year. He shouldn't be worried about playing time when he's the only one at his O-Line position in the class.

  9. It's amazing how every expert and UM fan had Diamond as a UM lock on Tuesday. Friday comes rolling around and the experts and some UM fans jump ship. I also love how TomVH, Allen Trieu and Sam Webb get our hopes up for all these recruit one minute only to let us down the next.

  15. I do not know why everyone is saying Kozan is waiting to see where Diamond is going. Then go somewhere else. They don't even play the same position. The only thing I can think of is that these two just don't like each other.

    1. Here is a thought...

If Diamond is going to "Shock the World," maybe he called Coach Ferentz at Iowa and said he was going there and they took his verbal. Due to that decision, Kozan feels there are too many linemen in the class and is waiting to see if Diamond follows through. If Diamond goes to the Hawkeyes then he goes to plan B,C,D. Just a thought.

      Delete
    2. If Kozan wants to go to Iowa then he would have committed there on NSD. Not wait a few extra days and let Diamond steal his spot. This still make no scents they don't play the same position. Center, tackle and guard are all different positions.

      Delete
    3. But what if he means by saying shock the world is that maybe he talked to Kozan and they both decided to go blue.. Something happened that Kozan didn't sign with Iowa and for awhile I was thinking what Caleb put but either way the kid is 18 years old and you can never take a kids word cuz they change their minds like they do there underwear....

      Delete
    4. I believe that Diamond was going to tell the coaches where he was planning on signing and if for some reason Diamond chose Iowa, maybe that took Iowa's last spot. Idon't know just a random idea.

  17. One thought I have heard is that Kozan wants to go to Auburn, which only has one spot available. Auburn is telling him that they would prefer Diamond. Therefore, if Diamond goes elsewhere, Kozan goes to Auburn. Accordingly, Kozan has to wait for Diamond.

Of course this is merely speculation based on the radio silence from both camps.

    ReplyDelete

    1. That's what I heard also and that Auburn thinks they have Diamond.

  18. Diamond is going to Auburn...book it! As to your comment about Auburn not being a good program w/o Cam, they did have a down year this year b/c of losing Cam, Fairley, and 29 seniors, but they were certainly a good program before Cam came and they will continue to be good in the future (2 top 5 recruiting classes the past two years). They've certainly been a much better program than Michigan over the past 10 or so years.

    1. Wrong my friend - SO WRONG about Auburn being much better that UM over the last 10 years or so. 3 Rose 1 Sugar Bowl - Auburn has not been to 4 bcs bowl games since 2005 - so do not get that confused.

Have they been more stabled since the RRod regime to present date ? - Absolutely - that I will grant - but don't give me that crap about them being better than UM since 2000 or 2002 to present date. BS !

  21. GoBlue2002,
Lets say your right and both want to go to Auburn. If that's the case then that means UM should land one of them. Unless Diamond goes to Ark. Then UM loses both.

I am not getting a good feeling about Diamond. But I do keep thinking about what his mother said over the summer. She said academics will be a big factor in where he goes and she wants to see him play. UM is closer then Auburn and Ark.

Either way I believe Gibbs gets a offer on Saturday.

Auburn has 30 wins in 3 years and 5 SEC West titles since 2000. That is the hardest division of any conference in football! 2. Of those times when Auburn beat Alabama. Alabama sucked, so don't tell me you beat the best team in the country 8 of 12 years. You also lost to Alabama 4 of those times most were when they sucked. And losing 27 seniors, isn't it about the team? Just because you lose seniors doesn't mean you can't compete. Good teams have players that can step up and that is why your program is so inconsistent. Since that 1994 season you bring up we have won as many national championships as you have. So shut the fuck up and take that shit back to the Southeastern Cheaters Conference. Oh and why don't you pay a couple players to come in and fill in for you since you lost 27 seniors. That's what you did with Cam Newton right?

      Delete
    3. Tigerman, you may be right, but we still beat the SEC's greatest player Tim Tebow in a bowl game while Ohio was getting blown out. Post this stuff on the OSU board instead, cuz here you're forcing your point. May I remind you Florida dominated the 90's in the SEC? It all goes in a revolutionary pattern, Michigan's time is coming back. And we beat Ohio this year, history now means nothing. Also, Ohio was cheating during their decade of dominance while Michigan wasn't. Take your arguments elsewhere, they mean nothing. Thank you, GO BLUE!!

    4. War Eagle lol. You know you guy suck without Cam Newton. Hell Paul Finebaum said you guys are a better fit for the sunbelt conference. I believe him. For the record the last sec team that we played was Florida with Tim Tebow. I wasn't to impressed. I really thought the sec was a legitimate conference until then. My guess is if you'll played up here for bowl week you probably wouldn't win a game. Well good luck next year hope y'all stop inbreeding. Go Blue!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Auburn Sucks. If I remember right i think they pay their players too. SEC conference is the worst if you want more proof go to oversignings.com. They do not discipline anyone didn't LSU players get arrested and only sit out 2 games? Stonum was red shirted for a DUI then thrown off the team. Get out of here and go back to the Sucks equally conference!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I guess one way to "shock the World" is to make everyone believe you're going to Auburn and then switch to...

I don't really care which one we get as long as we grab one of them. The depth on our OL is scary.

On a relate note, recruiting drives me crazy. 17-18 year olds are the most inconsistent, insecure, indecisive people on the planet and yet we "expect" them to make a decision and stick by it, or better yet, just make a damn decision.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Also known as Somebody Else Cheating conference. Remarkable that Auburn and Michigan State have a lot in common. "Little Brothers to Alabama and Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  37. And Michigan is Ohio's little brother. All one little happy family

    ReplyDelete
  38. I realize I am repeating myself and this won't do any good but can we please stop responding to the random posters just trying to get a reaction. If they get their enjoyment out of coming onto another teams website and taunting the fans, that't fine, responding only encourages them to do it more. Don't feed the trolls.

While I would love Diamond to go Blue at this point I would rather have Kozan because I think Michigan needs interior lineman more. I am not 100% on the depth chart, but how many scholarship interior lineman does Michigan have beyond Omameh, Barnum, Miller, Bryant and now Kalis?

  39. What are we....12 years old and delusional. First off this blog is attracting the likes of fans on Bucknuts with the profanity and stupidity. This blog was never like that. We were all Michigan fans that came on and shared in intelligent dialogue and information. Some of us are starting to sound like unintelligent, ill informed jackasses.

Tigerman has his opinions and he can express them until Benji bans him but in the meantime why are some of you lowering yourself to his level.

Unfortunately I agree with some things he says. Like it or not, Auburn would be a tough game for us right now. We were good this season but not great. You need to look beyond W/L records and some of the stats and look at our overall play. If you do that and take the goggles off I think you'll see that there was many things that we could have done better (as individuals and as a team). I don't know who would win if we played Auburn next week. I really believe that they might. The difference is how clean each of the programs is and what kind of ethics and integrity our coaches are instilling in our young players.

Please. If you're going to talk about Michigan Men and the Michigan way stop sounding like a$$holes.

  41. Thom, you can't talk, Tressel cheated every year he was there. Clarett even called him out on it and no one believed him because "Tressel is a stand-up, honest, great man." Woops, your last decade of football means nothing because you got caught scarlett handed CHEATING. Michigan dominated you in the 90's the right way, Ohio is Michigan's little brother, you know, the jealous one who does bad things to get attention. Man you Ohio guys just don't make sense. Michigan rocks and you know it, why, cuz you're on this site and not your own stirring up trouble. Take a hike and see you next year! GO BLUE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Tigerman -- is it your point that Auburn has the better TEAM, or the better PROGRAM? It can't be the better team because the last time Michigan and Auburn stepped off a football field, one left as BCS Sugar Bowl Champions at 11-2. The other stepped out of the Chic-freaking-filet bowl at a woeful 8-5. So by the last measure, the better team is Michigan. It's MICHIGAN.

Therefore, you must be trying to make the case that Auburn has the better program. And in making your case, you seem willing to go back into history. Fine, we can go there. For example, you proudly note that "Auburn has . . . 30 wins in 3 years."

You call that a program, chump? A program looks like this:

    • More all-time wins than any other Division I-A school (877)
    • Leads the Big Ten with 42 league championships
    • 124 All-America first team award winners
    • Named National Champions 11 times, including 1997
    • 33 consecutive postseason bowl appearances
    • National attendance leader 35 of the last 36 seasons
    • 223 consecutive Michigan Stadium home games with crowds in excess of 100,000
    • First college-owned football stadium to seat over 100,000
    • Michigan is the most televised program in NCAA history with 406 TV appearances
    • The Wolverines have been ranked in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll in 37 of the last 42 seasons

    All-Time NCAA Division I-A Wins
    Through 2009-10 Season

    Place School Wins
    1. Michigan 877
    2. Texas 845
    3. Notre Dame 837
    4. Nebraska 826
    5. Ohio State 818

That's a program, son. You don't see Auburn mentioned on the last list because it is way down at number 13. We've never even been number 2, let alone 13.

Now take your foul-mouthed schoolboy rhetoric and your delusions of program grandeur and kindly leave our board.

The winningest program in history makes one bad hire and has a slide, hires a good coach and immediately jumps to 11-2 (mind you with players that do not fit their system) and Michigan fans need to defend themselves to an Auburn fan? I think not (history speaks volumes). I am happy for you and for Jordan Diamond. Give him a hug for me when he realizes that national championship Michigan wins during his time @ Auburn could have been shared with him. Let's face it, while Auburn is a respectable program, your chances as winning a championship before Michigan.... Slim at best.
