I spoke with Columbia (FL) Offensive Tackle Laremy Tunsil earlier today and we discussed his recruitment a little bit. Laremy is one of the few five-stars on 24/7 sports and is a member of ESPNU's 2013 Early Top 100 prospects in the country. Heres the highlights:
-Laremy has a top five of FSU, LSU, Alabama, Michigan, and Florida. He has created a strong bond with all five of those schools coaches. The coaches are what attracted Laremy to those programs over everything else.
-Laremy currently has 13 offers. He says that his recruitment is really crazy right now, but he's really enjoying the process.
-He says that being a top recruit nationally feels great, but he knows that he still gad stuff to work on to become better a player. Hasn't had a chance to visit Michigan yet, but he wants to sometime soon. Plans on attending many camps and junior days over the spring and summer.
-His biggest strengths on the offensive line would have to be his quick feet and athleticism. Says that he is great in run blocking and pass blocking, but he could still use some more work on his pass blocking to become elite in that area of his game.
-The biggest thing he's looking for in in a college is education. He loves Michigans offensive line program and he has a GREAT relationship with Coach Funk.
-His parents are his greatest inspirations in his life. He will wait til national signing day to make his decision.
This was just a short update with Laremy. I should be in talks with him again to discuss things in a little more detail.
Sounds like UM has a good shot at him.
ReplyDeleteDid Anthony Standifer commit anywhere? I can't find anything on where he committed.
ReplyDeleteNo. He'll probably commit to Pittsburgh sometime soon.
DeleteWas it really a grade thing between him and UM?
DeleteYes. He doesn't have enough credits to get into ND or UM
DeleteThat sucks UM could have really used him.
DeleteDavon is Glassglow and there was a weight lifter O linemen that are walk on. Are they still with the team? And any news on Kozan?
I'm positive that Glassgow is a walk-on. Not about the other one. Nothing new on Kozan.
DeleteHow did Logan Tuley-Tillman visit go or is it Sunday? Do you think he will commit soon?
DeleteHis visit was (is) today. I'm trying to get in contact with Logan to do a post visit interview.
DeleteI think he waits until after summer to make a decision.
Yerden is the weightlifting champion you're talking about. I am not sure of his status but he is not on the official roster right now and neither is another walk-on OL Dallas Williams. Glasgow is on the team though for sure
DeleteThis from Lance Gordon via Twitter: Kozan hasn't released when he will decide. He won't be making a formal announcement. He's just going to fax his LOI in
ReplyDeleteFrom Sam Webb: Despite Jordan Diamond's pledge to Auburn, still hearing they and Michigan lead Iowa for Kozan.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if this is old, but just stumbled upon it and love it. Give it a watch, it's pretty cool.

F!CK MICHIGAN STATE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteanybody get the feeling Super Bowl Sunday might be a good day for Alex Kozan to sign LOI?!
ReplyDeleteCan we quit playing road games this season? It's just embarrassing every single time out.
ReplyDeleteThis loss was to be expected. We're simply not big enough inside and don't shoot we'll enough outside when we're on the road. The team has heart though. I look forward to seeing how they play next year with the incoming recruits.
ReplyDeleteAny word on Kozan yet?
Anyone hear any news about Kozan? I know its down to Michigan, Iowa and Auburn.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to have second thoughts on kozan. He doesn't sound like a true Michigan man! If he keeps dragging this on he will be indisive even after he commits.
ReplyDeleteDo know the kid? Don't understand why people keep ragging on 18yr olds, especially on this blog. I used to enjoy coming here, but now this is like an OSU board.
ReplyDeleteI really hope I keep coming here! At least do it for the quality, informative information.
DeleteI dont care if he doesnt come either.
Delete18 yrs old? serious? he had a year to think of where he was going, he committed once and changed his mind, to me that show a lack of commitment, and if he done that IF he signs with us and then second guesses his decision and leaves the team then what.
To me if a player doesnt commit early on he doesnt want to be here, and to me we dont need those kinds or the ones that want nothing but the spotlight.
36 year Michigan Fan GO BLUE!!!
While I agree, if he commits, I would show the kid some love even if you don't agree of the kids previous actions.
DeleteOh I'll show him some love if he commits I promise you that, but we have had players do the same thing before, and never make an impact and never even make it into rotation, and hold a spot for several years that could of went to a kid that really wants to be here, like a Shane Morris type
DeletePlayers who have been Michigan fans their entire life have never left the program, right? He has til April to make his decision, probably the most important decision of his life. I don't think he is looking for the spotlight, he has been pretty quiet in his recruiting.
DeleteYes there has been some Michigan fans leave the team, but there has been more leave that Michigan was there 2nd or 3rd choice.
DeleteAnd the ones that did leave that were lifelong fans
1- couldnt win a starting spot or even into rotation
2- Got homesick
3- thought the spotlight was brighter elsewhere
"Those Who Stay" ring a bell?
And Kozan is in the spotlight look at all the websites and media wondering where he will go, kinda like Digg's
Maybe the kid has read some of the other blogs and forums and is not sure if he wants to come here with the way the Michigan fan base has reacted about Garnett and Diamond. I found it very embarrassing some of the junk people have said.
DeleteIf Kozan comes here I wish him the best. If he goes somewhere else I wish him the best. Either way it looks like there is a ton of talented 2013 lineman recruits out there. I'm looking forward to spring ball and the start of the 2012 season.
Its his opinion and he entitled to have one just like everyone else.
Deleteso in TRUxBLUxFAN's eyes Denard is not a Michigan man because he didn't commit until signing day (or close to it)...? that's ridiculous, kids sign when they sign...period, it's their decision, and a decision that will shape their lives for the next 4 or 5 years, just because they have a hard time deciding doesn't make them any less committed ONCE THEY SIGN, Denard is a testament to that...
DeleteI got the New York 27-12.
ReplyDeleteI hope Kozan decides soon either way. I'm sick and tired of seeing comments by people ignorant to the situation 18-year-old faces when trying to decides HIS future. Just because he hasn't decided yet doesn't mean he's a "true" Michigan man. If him taking time to make his decision disqualifies him as being a "true" Michigan man then you could probably disqualify most of our recruits this year as being "true" Michigan men since they probably also took their time and weighed their options as well.
ReplyDeleteIgnorant to the situation?
DeleteI went through the whole recruiting process with my son have you?
Most of our recruits committed long before signing day, and they didnt sway.
If he's second guessing himself now, that thought will always be in the back of his mind.
Amen - TRUxBLUxFAN

DeleteHe is second guessing himself because his first choice pulled the rug out from under him. Iowa had a major coaching change (OC) and that definitely changed the dynamic for him. It was no different for guys that verballed to Pitt, Wisc, ASU or even Florida after Weis left. There are so many variables that goes into this that we don't know. I do not and never have had a child go through this process but I spent several years recruiting kids and their minds change all the time (it seems many times they favor the school that made the last phone call or visit). In no way am I discrediting your familiy's recruiting experience, but not everyone has the same circumstances, family values, personalities or ideals. Some come from broken homes and lack guidance or are getting it from the wrong places (crooked coaches) or their motivation is to get out of a terrible neighborhood (Martavious Odoms), or they want a great academic school (Josh Garnett), or they want to play for a specific coach or school (most Penn State verbals). Some even prolong it just to get as much attention as possible (Terrell Pryor), but some might just struggle with the thought of being so far away from home. Each kid is different and to this point in their life this is not only the biggest decision of their life, but also one that will set the course for the rest of it. I don't want to speculate on why Kozan is torn and dragging this out, but do try and keep these things in mind when we are talking negatively about these kids.
DeleteIn all honesty, I respect the way Kozan is handling this. In my opinion he is showing a lot of maturity. He knows this is a huge decision and wants to make sure he makes the correct one. It's not his fault Iowa had a change in their coaching staff. When he saw that happen he was smart enough to step back and think about what he was doing. More 18 yr old kids should that! Let's remember, he's not making a show out of it either - just sending in his letter. I think he wants this over with, but not bad enough to make the wrong decision for himself. While I'd like to know where he's going right now, he needs to take his time and do what's best for him. No matter how much it stresses us out.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%
DeleteImagine this once Lewan, Omameh and Schoefield graduate.... LT-Magnuson, LG-Bryant, C-Kozan, RG-Kalis, RT-Braden. And you still have Bars plus whoever we can get next year (LTT for example). The future looks great!
ReplyDelete@td61 That line up really brings a smile to my face. I just worry about their conditioning. With our new defensive players I can only imagine our O-line will be on the field the majority of the time in all the games.
Deletewe have some back-ups too. They may be walk-ons but they're good ones
DeleteOne guy I have been thinking about is Taylor Lewan. What if he leaves this year after a dominant year and is projected to be a high draft pick? That would leave an unbelievable hole at LT. I love the OL that @td61 put out there for 2014, but our depth still scares me. Whether we get Kozan or not we still need 5 OL in the 2013 class. BTW, Jack Miller was one guy that the staff said was really impressing during December pre-bowl practices. He could be one to watch at center and may have a head huge head start on any recruit we bring in.
DeleteBenji can you do a commitment profile on Dennis Forfleet
ReplyDeleteDarin AKA Will
Kozan is down to Iowa and auburn, so our class is complete... Be happy with the class we have because its a good one, turn our attention to 2013 which will be even better! Go Blue!
ReplyDeleteThe post on the main page says he is down to Auburn and Michigan so what info is correct.
DeleteFWIW, I saw a post from an Iowa board where someone said they know and talked to a Valor coach, they said he's going to Iowa, but didn't give a ETA on the LOI...
DeleteSam Webb said its down to Michigan and Auburn.
ReplyDeleteI was looking for some information like this at Hostpph.com, but this time I did not find what I was looking for, only on your blog, keep it up my friend!
