Shaq Wiggins commits to Georgia

2013 Atlanta (Ga.) CB Shaq Wiggins has commited to Georgia today according to his twitter. Wiggins had some interest in Michigan, but there were some discrepancies regarding whether or not he had an offer from the Wolverines. Wiggins was on Georgias campus today for an official visit, so it wasn't all that surprising for him to stay in-state.

His commitment doesn't really affect Michigan too much because they seem to be higher on other corner backs such as Kendall Fuller, Jourdan Lewis, amongst others.

    1. That's insane!

Davon do you think UM gets a commit or two this weekend? And does Diggs choice affect Kozan?

    2. I don't think we get a commit this weekend. The two most likely candidates (Shallman/Dukes) are going to wait some more until they make a decision. Everybody else probably won't announce until summers end.

    3. I want wyatt shallman to commit so badly! Chris Fox would be a great pickup. hopefully this visit puts michigan in the lead

  10. Sam Webb's interview with Logan Tuley-Tillman was pretty cool! His mom wants him to come to Michigan and he stated that we are his outright leader...great news! Also, Laquon Treadwell looked pretty good in that #6 jersey! Would love to see both come to AA!

  11. Is UM recruiting Dymonte Thomas as a safety or RB? Or will he be a wait and see?

    1. I ask because 24/7 sports has him as a RB.

    2. He is 100% going to be a S at Michigan

  13. unfortunately for us, Treadwell also put up pics of him at MSU and ND, so nothing concrete.

  14. Dymonte has stated that HE WANTS to play defense at UM. Although, if he flipped to RB he would probably still be a four-star recruit there as well. But if you look at the quality of the backs UM is offering (Keith Ford, Ty Isaac, Derrick Green, and De'Veon Smith) it is pretty clear that the coaching staff and Thomas are comfortablei with him as (probably) the lone safety in this class. Additionally, UM is offering several cornerbacks but I am unaware of any other safety prospects that have been offered (Su'a Cravens is a freak athlete at DB that may move to safety eventually). Here is a quote from Thomas as well, "I think Coach Mattison can eventually turn me into an NFL safety, which has always been my dream."

He will be on the defensive side of the ball. The second he is on campus next year he will be competing for time. Kovacs will be gone and Thomas will be rotating with Marvin Robinson and Josh Furman. This kid is so far ahead of Allen Gant already. After Thomas Gordon leaves, Jarrod Wilson and Dymonte Thomas will have our secondary on lock down for a few years.

    1. Caleb,
I agree with you. I could see Thomas playing both positions. I think safety is a better fit for him. As for Allen Gant I think Borges is moving him to WR. I watched his highlights yesterday he fits better as a WR then safety to me.

  15. I hope UM lands Treadwell but if he goes else where UM is in good position to land a couple of WR. So I am not worried about landing WRs.

  16. I think Gant will play WR, not safety. Unless he proves something in camps, I think his talent and our needs put him more at WR than safety

  17. My hopes for WR next year is Treadwell and Dukes. Two tall fast players with great hands. Dukes seems to be all about Michigan, and Treadwell looks like he's LEANING towards blue, but NSD 2013 is a LONG time away haha

    1. I see UM taking as many as 4 WR this year.

    2. Robert Foster out of PA would be a steal! Sam Webb said that we may take 3-4 TE/H-back types in this class too.

  18. This is from Touch the Banner.com. What do you think?
Possible position changes for Roh and Beyer
I received an e-mail this morning from someone who went to this weekend's coaching clinic. Greg Mattison apparently mentioned that Craig Roh is moving to strongside defensive end, and Brennen Beyer is moving from SAM to weakside end. This seems to be the best move for Michigan's current personnel, and I always thought Beyer would be better off as a weakside end than a SAM. This also seems to indicate that the coaches are enamored with rising sophomore Frank Clark, who terrorized Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

    1. True, Frank Clark has the speed to terrorize Offensive lines, aka Sugar Bowl. Let him bulk up a little bit, work on his hands, and he could be good.

  19. I like the move. Roh will be better at the strongside DE. This opens it up for Black to come in and start as the other DE. This gives us the best starting line up on the front 4. I like the depth we have this year on the D. Last year we needed so many Freshmen to step up and play right away. This year the only freshmen we need to step up is Ondre Pipkins and if I had to pick someone that I thought would be able to come in right away..... he would be my man.

  20. I am getting the feeling that UM will go crazy this year again and take 6 O linemen. They have offered alot on O linemen for 2013. Hoke know's how important it is to win in the trenches.

    1. we need to! shit, I'd be ok with taking 10 o-lineman. 4 and 5 stars are great. but we should absolutely stock up on big 3 stars that are in the 6'6 315lb range and coach them up.

I think Dan Gibbs has the potential to be great. He's so tough, and smart, and an absolute giant. He just needs to play with better knee bend (coachable). If he did, he would have been a 4 star. I hope the coaches see what I see in dan gibbs. Ben Braden could also be good. Magnuson is not a good drive blocker, but a great pass blocker.

  21. Did PeeWee still on Twitter? I can't find him anymore. Him and Shane Morris are the only two I follow?

  22. Yawnnnnnnnnn...Nothing new here...

  23. Prediction:
    1 QB (S. Morris)
    1 RB
    3 WR
    3 TE/H-back
    5 O-lineman
    3 D-lineman
    2 LBs
    2CBs
    1 Safety (D. Thomas)

Total: 21 commits in the 2013

    1. I would add one more QB and RB to your list.

    2. QB Chance Stewart @ 6'5" would be a nice pickup in 2014 as well... The kid can play I've seen him in person quite a few times and with me being a coach in football I know talent when I see it and this kid has it... He plays for Sturgis....

    3. I could see 2 RBs but their is no point in having 2 QBs. Why waste a scholarship on a kid that will never play?

      Delete
    4. One word - Injuries. They took 1 QB last year and 0 this year. Denard is graduating. They need 2 QB's and a preferred walk-on in next year's class.

    5. There will be 3 scholarship QBs tho... Devin, Russell, and Shane. I would not be too worried. You then take 2 QBs in 2014.

  24. The reason I say take 2 QBs is because DG is not a lock for a medical redshirt. In fact most say he will not get a med. redshirt. So I would take two just in case.
