- It seems like all four major recruiting services have released early rankings now, as the Rivals 100 is out. Shane Morris is #16, Dymonte Thomas is #77.
- Ohio TE Jake Butt has named Michigan as his clear leader, and he checks in at #96 on the previously mentioned Rivals 100. Michigan will take at least two TEs in this class, and Jake has a good shot at being the 2nd.
- Per an Allen Trieu tweet, Illinois WR Laquon Treadwell will be visiting Michigan this weekend, as well as Michigan State. The Wolverines were his leaders previously, but he's just picked up offers from USC and Ohio State, so the competition just got a lot tougher. The Buckeyes will get him on campus next month.
Shane will eventually be a 5* and Dymonte will move up. I hope we land Butt, that would be a great add early...much like Funchess this past recruiting class.
ReplyDeleteLook's like the Badgers will get to talk about us, I read on 24/7 we offered there committed TE Scott Orndorf
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome if we could get Kendall Fuller. A CB with height. Hope Blake Countness has already been recruiting him and Stefon Diggs doesn't go to Ohio. Happy to see alot of the Top 100 Michigan has offered and seem to be getting alot of interest back.
ReplyDeleteTy Isaac is rated at #18 and second overall RB in the class. WR targets Marquez North, Robert Foster & Laquan Treadwell come in at #24, 26, & 31 overall.
ReplyDeleteFor Shane Morris, being ranked 16 is pretty good considering it's a rivals list and he has already committed to play in the ESPN Under Armour All America Game. I believe that if he was going to play in the Army game he would be an easy five star on rivals. Of course they could still bump him up as the season goes on.
ReplyDeleteHe will be a 5 star on ESPN for that same reason. That's why I go by scouts because rivals and ESPN both favor kids that are playing in their games.
ReplyDelete34 minutes ago a colorado website reported Kozan signs with Iowa... Anyone heard anything?
ReplyDeleteHow is Morris a 4* and the 3rd QB? He was better than all the 4 and 5* QB's in the 2012 class. Doesn't make sense
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me how Cam Burrows is ranked higher the Shane Morris?
ReplyDeleteI hope UM can land Jones and Butt this weekend. Treadwell would be a nice pick up too.
ReplyDeleteCam is rated higher because he has a higher ranking #.
ReplyDeleteAnd water is wet. Tell me something I don't already know.
DeleteGo troll on a tsio blog somewhere chucky........
Deleteweren't we talking about vernon hargreaves on a board earlier? He's ranked pretty high, wouldn't mind grabbing him
ReplyDeleteThat would have been me and I'll say it again vernon hargreaves can flat out play but he'll be a tough get cuz his offer list has just about every powerhouse schoolon that list....
DeleteSand is coarse, dry & annoying....
ReplyDelete@jer89
ReplyDeleteMorris, threw 7 ints and only threw for 1900 yards. I know the school he plays for is run first but the coach said thats going to change next year and he said dont be surprised if he throws for over 4000 yards next year, and maybe its cause he decided to play in the under armour game instead of the us army one.
It just seem a QB would be higher rated then a CB.
ReplyDeleteyeah, I found it kinda odd that the highest ranked pro style QB in the last class (Kiel) was only only 20th, the second highest ranked was in the 40s and the 3rd highest ranked was in the 50s...
DeleteI know what you mean, I know a kid that played on the 7on7 team with Morris and he said he's the real deal himself, Idc what rivals rates him cause he'll be a great qbs at Michigan.
ReplyDeleteWho ever says sand is annoying is crazy. Sand is on lovely beaches, and dunes, must not have a dirtbike with a paddle tire.
ReplyDeleteThese are just the early rankings, I wouldn't worry much yet, they're going to change a few times. If Morris has a good summer, like last year, he'll move up quick.
Whoop Nebraska! Hardaway wake up brah!
Benji, have we offered Reschke yet? And if not are we gonna offer him?
ReplyDeleteJunior Hemingway, Mike Martin and David Molk have been invited to the NFL scout combine. Where's Van Bergen and Koger? Koger was invited to the east/west shrine game and played well.
Tamani Carter should be recruiting Jake Butt they both grew up in the same city and they might've played at the same high school
ReplyDeleteHere's who I want from the state of Michigan this year: LB/DE Jon Reschke- Birmingham Brother Rice, S Isiah Gourdine- Farmington, CB Corey Willis- Holland, CB Marcus Smith- Muskegon Orchard View, CB Desmond King- DC, CB Demtrius Stinson- DFD, CB Jourdin Lewis- DCT, RB Wyatt Shallman- DCC, DT Poet Thomas- DCD. WR Brandon Moore- Montague
ReplyDeleteThats a lot of CB's, and there is one or two really good CB's from outside of Michigan that I would like to see them get.
DeleteDarin, Do you not want a QB this year? Or, is Shane morris just implied?
ReplyDeleteThis is of those who haven't committed of course I want Morris
DeleteBenji, has Kozan sent in a LOI to a school yet?
ReplyDeleteI was also wondering about kozan. Haven't seen nothing new at all
ReplyDeleteScouts said Michigan has 4 recruits coming this weekend and at least 4 coming next weekend. They also said 3 of them are possible to commit. Anyone have any guesses who that might be?
ReplyDeleteESPN has Morris and Thomas listed as 5 Stars. I'd say that's a pretty good start to 2013. GO BLUE!!!
ReplyDeletewe'll need another great offensive line haul.
ReplyDeleteI have only a few people on my O-Line wishlist.
#1 Cameron Dillard, Canton. watch his film
#2 Logan Tuley Tillman
I'd be fine with a bunch of 3 star lineman who are over 6'4 and near 300lbs. they can be coached up.
if i could have 5 players guaranteed to Michigan next season, it would be (aside from morris)
Wyatt Shallman
Cameron Dillard
Jaylon Smith
Dukes
Tuley Tillman
I might pick 5 that suit our needs, but who also Ohio is targeting as well
DeleteFYI - Rivals now has a 2013 Top 250
ReplyDeletehttp://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/rankings/rank-3054
Also by Rivals, a nice little write up on Mattison as Big Ten Recruiter of the year. (Scroll down just below the video and click on the Big Ten tab)
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1328597#BIGTEN
M GO BLUE!!!
Fred Jackson also received a nice write up.
DeleteIt's now 10 days past NSD and Alex Kozan has not committed anywhere. I know this is a major decision for a 18 year old and he should take the time he needs. I believe UM is not the school for him and the reason I say this is because if you have to think about it that hard then Michigan is not the school for you. Either your blue or your not. I wish him the best of luck in life and hope he has a nice football career.
ReplyDeleteDiggs is committing on Friday. Where do you think he goes? I hope it's the Gators.
Meh, the Kozan stuff really doesn't bother me. He isn't clamoring for attention he is just indecisive. If he comes to Michigan, keeps his nose clean and plays hard no one will remember when he signed or complain about how long it took him to make a decision.
DeleteNot trying to come after you with this Jer, I just feel that just because he hasn't made a decision yet doesn't mean he can't be a Michigan man when all is said and done.
I know where your coming from and O know this is a major life decision. I am not OSUing this kid at all. He seems like a smart kid and I hope he goes blue. I just don't know what he is waiting for. If UM was in his heart then he would have went blue by now.
DeleteI agree with you that I have no idea what he is waiting for. I forget who posted it earlier, but someone said maybe he was waiting to see if Auburn was going to have a scholarship for him. At this point I feel thats the only thing that make sense. If his heart was with either Michigan or Iowa why hasn't he done it yet. Oh well, good luck to the kid, hopefully he can figure out what he wants to do.
DeleteI read a report tonight that Diggs was going to commit at Maryland. With Kozan, it would be a solid pick up, but I also feel that the '13 OL class we recruit is gonna be sick. We are already offering a bunch of top prospects, and as long as we get atleast 4 (5 if Kozan doesnt commit), things will be all good.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteDavon,
ReplyDeleteI here OL Chris Fox may commit soon. I can't find much info on him. How good is he?
@honeywolve
ReplyDeleteESPN has Thomas as a 4 star
http://insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/football/story/_/id/7511532/top-100-prospects-2013
They also have Morris as a 5* but the 4th best qb
But ESPN has Michigan listed as having two 5 Stars, so unless the other guy is a five star ESPN doesn't know what it's doing.
DeleteIs Robert foster and James quck high on us?
ReplyDelete@Jer I think Kozan wants to go to Auburn and similar to the Diamond situation, Diggs is more important to them than Kozan is. If Diggs goes elsewhere, Kozan can have his spot.
ReplyDeleteChris Fox has been high on us for awhile. I think I remember reading an article way back about him always wanting to come to Michigan same with Kent Perkins out of Texas. Chris Fox looks to be a Guard prospect should be a 4 star on most sites. Believe Ohio STate offered him recently as well. I think he would be a good get for us. Does anyone know if their is at all a chance to steal Elmer away from Notre Dame. And is RB Keyante Green the kid out of Georgia that said he wanted to play for us?
ReplyDeleteChris Fox is a top 50 player on both Rivals and 247 as of right now. I think Elmer is pretty solid to Notre Dame and Kamani Thomas isn't really the type of big, game changing back that Hoke's looking for.
DeleteNo that's kamani thomas
ReplyDelete@fursty13
ReplyDeleteNeither is Dennis Norfleet, but we gave him a scholarship. Besides, Kamani Thomas is compared to Trent Richardson.... I think Hoke would take a Trent Richardson
247 sports has treadwell's favorite as Michigan, everyone else is "cool". However Ty Isaac is "cool" on everybody. We are tied with bama for Tuley-Tillman and we're leading with Taco Charlton
ReplyDeleteDiggs to.Maryland! Haha
ReplyDeleteWhy is Diggs to Maryland so funny?
DeleteLook where Dorial Green-Beckham went.
Congratulations to Diggs! I don't think this is that terrible of a choice at all. The other schools that were his favorites are better team-wise, but between Florida, Auburn, Ohio & Maryland, I can't think of a school that has put out better receivers (to the NFL)than Maryland in the past few years (Heward-Bey and Torrey Smith). Stefon Diggs is a huge get for Randy Edsall. Peter Warrick 2.0 in the ACC! He'll be alot more fun to watch with him not wearing scarlet and grey.
Delete@Ann Arbor Victor: Zach just got an image in his head of Diggs wearing one of those uniforms.
DeleteFair enough. Those uniforms were different, especially the helmets.
DeleteM GO BLUE!!!
Looking at next year's schedule (already), I can't see us being any worse than 8-3 going into The Game on the road. That's worst case losses against 'Bama, @ ND and 1 other "surprise", I picked @ Nebraska. I wholeheartedly believe all 3 of those are more than winnable w/ D-Rob and our defense playing like they can.
ReplyDelete@lalondtm, Norfleet won't be an every down back; he'll be a special teams player and change of pace back. Hoke's looking for an elite, game changing player this year. I feel if we offer a smaller back in this class it will be Berkeley Edwards (part of the family legacy).
ReplyDelete@fursty13, You very well may be right, and the staffs intention may be along your line of thinking. However, the kid is electric (more so than Hayes is IMO) and in the next 3-4 years he will add the right kind of weight and get up to 195-200lbs and if he is able to keep his speed there is no reason that he can't be another Mike Hart/Ray Rice-type of player for us. I think we should all learn from what Hart taught us about judging players just by their measurables. Norfleet is a player and clearly he isn't the prototype.
Delete@Darin (for the comment below), I hope I am wrong, but I am not sold on Rawls at all. He has the size, but he seems to be a Brandon Minor at best. With the potential for Ty Isaac to come on board I think his shot at much playing time goes out the window if Isaac goes Blue. Rawls doesn't appear to have the wiggle or speed to be a great back at Michigan.
The reason why Bama does so well with smaller backs is the huge O line. UM has and is working on the O line size. If you have a huge O line then even I can run threw the holes.
DeleteI like Rawls and Norfleet/Justic Hayes as thunder and lightning in the future. For those saying you can't have two runningbacks split time, It worked for Clemson I think it can work here
ReplyDeleteI just watched the film on OL Chris Fox. He is 6'-6" and 285 LBS. That's a big boy. His O Line play was nice. It was filmed at field level so it was hard to see him on a lot of plays. Now as DT I liked him more he has a motor. He is to tall to play DT but he is a wide body. I would love to have him in the 2013 class. Would be great to have Fox and Duke commit this weekend.
ReplyDeletePeople on here care to much about size with RB. Look at Bama's last two RB. They were both small guys and seemed to turn out well for them. Look at all the great RB Michigan has had over the years..... Who ran for more yards than anyone? A little guy with a lot of Hart.
ReplyDeleteNo running back is going to be any good if they don't have a hole to run through. Keep the top O-Line recruits coming in and all of these RB's will look like 5 stars.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! I saw USC kill Oklahoma in the National Title game in the Orange Bowl a while back and Adrian Peterson ran for like 40 yards. Obviously he's a stellar back, but had nowhere to run. Football is won and lost in the trenches, PERIOD! Michigan MUST keep recruiting on both lines in order to compete with the big boys of the SEC if they want to win a National Championship, and yes I'm saying the SEC is the cream of the crop. Sure it's more fun to get a sexy wideout or running back, but great lines create great teams. Michigan did a great job this year recruiting those key spots. GO BLUE!!!
DeleteYou can't compare every small running back to Alabama. Trent Richardson was just a freak on the field and more impressively the weight room. I think Michigan needs to go after Isaac VERY hard because he has nice size and imagine that kid running behind our future O-Line!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, go here..... http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/school/_/id/130/class/2013 look at the top of the page where it says 5 Star recruits, Michigan has the 2. So is this a mistake or does ESPN consider Dymonte Thomas a 5 star?
ReplyDeleteHe is a 5 star
DeleteHe's an ESPN150 watch list guy. He's number 77. Doesn't make him a 5 star, only the top 26 this year are 5 stars right now.
ReplyDeleteI did look into it further and it is strange that he is only watch listed yet it says we have 2 5* recruits. Guess I don't really care how many he has. Join UA game and he'll get it. Lol. All I know is he's going to be a freak.
DeleteDo they truly limit it to 26 though? Seems like if you are a 95 and up (or whatever you want to make the 5 star rank) yoy get that many stars. I know this is exagerated but say you have 29 guys ranked at 98 or 99 and the #30 guy is an 87, which 3 do you cut out from the 5* category?
Deletekozan can go where ever. if a kid does not know what school he wants to go to. michigan is not his pick. you either want to go to michigan or you donot. you know right away. taking this time means he is looking at who goes where. looking at playing time. I SAY GOOD BY AND GOOD LUCK
ReplyDeleteI also was expecting they could get Kendal Fuller, but after the article I read at Hostpph.com, it disappointed me that they did not even try to get him
ReplyDelete
