Hail to the Victors

If you predicted that scoreline, hats off to you; you deserve some kind of medal.

First off, whilst we don't like Ohio State, we do/should respect them as a talented football team, and we should respect the way their offense came out and played today. They played their tails off for Luke Fickell, and their gameplan was actually very good. I'll enjoy this victory for a long time, but Braxton Miller's rushing will haunt my dreams for a long time too!

Still, hail to the victors! Michigan finally wins the big one, largely thanks to Denard Robinson who turned in the best game of his Michigan career in my view. He will go down as a Michigan legend for ending the streak, as will all those seniors.

I was nervous before the game, but it was even worse during! The game never looked safe and after the officials blew that TD call from Tousiannt, I really did fear the worse. It was Michigan that was making the mistakes (fumble, bad  punt, bad penalties), but thankfully the defense finally sealed it at the end.

Now we just have to sit back, enjoy the day, watch some more college football maybe, and then wait for some recruiting stories unfold further - hopefully in our favor!!!

  1. The refs really did look like they were trying to give the game away for us with some of their spots and blown call on the Touissant touchdown. The OSU offense really was in full force today. That's not a 6-6 caliber team we played today. BTW great job to the players and the coaching staff for turning in a 10-2 record...truly incredible for a coach in his first year. It really looked today like everything is gelling at the right time on offense and the defense (although they did blow some coverages) was much better than last year again. I think we really should get some positive recruiting news coming our way in the minutes, hours, and days following this victory. On an even better side of things, we really have one foot in the door for a BCS bowl game in Hoke's first year, which is amazing on the recruiting front as well. GO BLUE!!

  4. I forgot how good this feels.....At the end of the game seeing Hoke, that has to be the most emotional he was all year. We are lucky to have such a classy coach.
    Bring on the recruits!!!

    Go BLUE!!

  6. OSU played like a top ten team today. Non Michigan fans will not give us credit where credit is due because we beat a 6-5, but Ohio state finally played to their potential and braxton miller played like a veteran today which should be a wake up to everybody he will be a playmaker. Hope we hear some good recruiting news soon..

  7. Agreed .......great /horrible game but soooooo much fun. Got some good pics down on the field .........atmosphere was electric. Recruits seemed to into the whole thing including the pre-game seniors ceremony. Drinking good Canadian beer and bar bound. Today we have a right to be proud. GO BLUE. Benji, if you want I'll get scoreboard and field pics to you.

  8. That was quite possibly the hardest game ive watched in some time. I dont think I sat down once save at half time. Was angry at the Refs... Im not quite sure how you have that TD reversed when its so close and then look where they spotted the ball after the reversal. it was like almost a foot away from the goal line. Just stupid IMO. In the end michigan won and im not divorced. Hopefully we get some good recruits out of this. One more thing. Why in the hell were we getting just TORCHED on the post today. It was bad, Braxton Miller will make those throws next year he is a beast in the making.

    GO BLUE.

  9. I don't think Thomas Gordon or Jordan Kovacs are really free (deep) safeties, neither possess elite covering ability, so when you think of it that way, the post route should be effective against us. You'd like to think Woolfolk at free safety would help us in those situations, but he probably got burned once or twice too.

  10. It couldn't be better. Now, we should get rid of Drew Sharp from the Detroit Free Press. I can't accept his evil comment any more. How he changed his attitude aginst Michigan football so fast. I can't beileve it.

  11. Finally!!!!!!!
I have to give props to DR he had a outstanding game. The RBs and WRs played well. The D was alittle off all day. And this hurts to say but OSU played well as well. They could have put there tail between there legs and ran home but instead they showed up and played well.

Hope the commits come rolling in?

    GO BLUE

  12. Okay this is what i have seen on twitter about the game:
2013 WR Laquon Treadwell says he wants his mom to see Michigan, "Immediately." http://es.pn/w2WHxT

2013 OL Logan Tuley-Tillman has Michigan in front after his visit: http://es.pn/w13TAb

Quick RB Bri'onte Dunn update: http://es.pn/vrghpt

2013 DB Shaq Wiggins talks about his Michigan visit: http://es.pn/q71X6c

Taco Charlton good relationship with there coaches making me lean towards Michigan with the win today for the 1st time ever

2013 WR De'Niro Laster RT @Mucho_Deniro UM is my top school so u know who I'm riding with

The question is who has a espn insider account to see what the story is on the few with espn links?

God that win felt so good after 7 long years!! Hail to the Victors

  13. For those of us without a subscription, what's the Dunn update?

    ReplyDelete
  14. The Brionte update:

I spoke with Bri'onte Dunn's father about their second consecutive trip to Ann Arbor. I will hopefully have more with Bri'onte tomorrow, but his father said they both really enjoyed the game. I asked if a decision is going to come soon, and Mr. Dunn said, "It's up to him, but we'll see."

It sounded to me like a decision could come soon. He is planning on enrolling early, so it has to come sooner rather than later. This was a big positive for Michigan in his recruitment, for him to see the Wolverines beat the Buckeyes in person. Like I said, I will hopefully have more from Bri'onte himself tomorrow, but wanted to get you this update for now.

  15. Thanks. Really hoping for a definite commitment this week. :)

  16. Hey guys is there a way to list some of the recruits we know of twitter accounts so we can follow them as well? I have a few, and find it interesting to see what they are saying.

    Great game and go Blue!

  17. Espn has us in Sugar Bowl... Dk if i like playing Houston. Yes Im sure we could run over them but wont they dominate us in passing game? Any thoughts...

    ReplyDelete
  18. First of all,I would be happy to be in a BCS game.. REGARDLESS of who we play. I think our staff has done a tremendous job and continues to improve our young players as well as our seniors. They deserve it! We did not do so great against the pass today, but lets credit Ohio a little bit here in the execution and overall tenacity. As a team we needed that to hopefully address some of our coverage issues. now about Houston.
Bring them on. They are a good team in a so so conference led by an outstanding QB in Keenum. However you also have a guy named Greg Mattison who is going to have a BOATLOAD of time to prepare for this team. Mike Martin will probably be the best Dlineman they have seen all year, and with our new found commitment to the run game and clock control, it keeps the other teams offense off the field. Can we beat Houston? absolutely! And after listening to all the spartan fans on FB or other venues cry about possibly getting a lesser bowl game then us if they lose, reaffirms my disdain for them. I hope Sconsin blows them away. Even in our victory they want to point out how they beat us, blah blah blah. Time for them to put up or shut up. I will be rooting for the big "W" just so they can get hosed and cry some more about it.

Sorry guys venting... it was a great victory today and I hope we get Houston or any other team for that matter in some form of a BCS bowl game.

    what a great day!

    GO BLUE!

  19. Time of Possession is where this game can be won by UM. The D is good enough to make critical stops against Houston, if Fitz and DR get goin early, like today, then UM should take care of business.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bring on Houston - we will play pass defense in that game. Take away 3 pass plays we didn't bother to defend and we would have blown out Ohio today. But the win is very sweet and better than any bowl imo.

Dunn's twitter is DunnItAlready25. Hope he comes because every defense that sees him and Shane in the same backfield will crap its pants. Payton is JordanPayton I think and he tweeted a "Go Blue!" earlier today. With hin on the outside and our O-line??? Going to sleep to have happy dreams now.

  21. Tee.. They were like three passes overthrown from 3 touchdowns... Our pass D was horrible today... I agree our offense would run for 400 yards on them but they would put up points on us too! Especially since our cb's play 10 yards off... Id def take Michigan winning 38-24.... Does South Carolina winning today have any effect on our bowl game? They are done and higher ranked than us?

    ReplyDelete
  22. South Carolina was already ranked #12 going into that game. That said I think it was taken into consideration. Anxiously awaiting the next few days!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hail- 1. The pass D was bad today, but they redeemed themselves with the game sealing pick from Avery. Don't think that Hoke and Mattison won't get this corrected during practices for the bowl game. Also, just because the corners play off at 10 yds, doesn't mean they will score a lot of points. Not saying they won't, just saying thats a bad reason for them scoring.

    2. I don't think that a conference can send more than 2 teams to BCS games. I could be wrong though.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Either way, I just want to see UM in the top 14. With UW vs. MSU I think UM should sneak in there with a couple weeks to play, and conference championships.

    ReplyDelete
  25. today our corners played 10 yards off and let them run 10 yards behind them. not a good combination, very few plays was the coverage even decent. the INT at the end didn't save anything it was a fourth down anyway. plus let us not forget the guy running free down the sideline the play before who was overthrown. That could've been a ugly mood killing ending. thankfully it wasn't!!

Took a lot of grit to pull it out considering all these circumstances. lots of passes missed on there part thankfully. Really liked the teams attitude though even when things weren't going smoothly they looked confident. Other then putting the ball on the ground a couple times in the first half *one time was really holding it with 2 hands but still lost it due to good play by the defense* DR played a really good game. his best of the year at the right time. whoever we play I'm looking forward to it this year.

  26. @ c-note, Hail and Jared...a conference can only send 2 teams to the BCS...HOWEVER if Alabama and LSU both make the BCS championship game it falls under an exception and the SEC would be able to send a 3rd team...HOWEVER AGAIN...I don't see Arkansas falling all the way down below South Carolina.

  27. Joshua Garnett,Jake Long&Erik Magnuson after t big game....http://yfrog.com/gy2f4xdj/hope this means good things 4 michigan!

  28. For Michigan to go to a BCS game they have to be ranked in the top 15 in the BCS ranking. So UM will have to wait til next week to see who loses.

On a side note lets enjoy this great win before we worry about a bowl game. I personly will enjoy this game for a long time. And I have read a twitter the OSU player and fans are talking smack. Not sure how a team can lose and talk that much smack.

  29. Jer89......just t nature o t beast,hehheehe

    ReplyDelete
  30. For one I think its funny when they do... The whole argument they have is that Michigan beat a subpar OSU team having a down year. Well guess what OSU? isnt that the pot calling the kettle black? Michigan didnt exactly have a "Michigan" type team the last few years. So man up and just take it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jer89. We are 16th in the BCS; however, the 15th and 14th place teams play each other next week. (MSU, Wisc). It seems that the loser would drop below us and we are almost assured of a top 15 BCS finish.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Kellwood,
I agree with that. The problem is you can't trust the BCS.

    ReplyDelete
  33. We were 15 in BCS last week. Wisconsin was 16. But I believe we have to be top 14 to make a BCS bowl. Wisconsin beating MSU will be very good for us. But there are a few other losses that will help us. Georgia is 13 and they will almost certainly lose to LSU. That might drop them the couple of places needed. If OK State beats OK, OK will have three losses, and probably drop below Michigan. And another upset by Iowa State would be great. They are playing Kansas State who was #11 last week, and a loss would give them three losses.

    ReplyDelete
  34. well I did not predict that scoreline, I have to be honest, and I thought that no one could have predicted that, but I read an article on a cost per head sports blog and a guy actually predicted it
