New TE target

With the departure of Pharaoh Brown from the commits list, Michigan needs a new TE and they're hoping that Taylor McNamara (San Diego, CA) will be that guy. He's a former Arizona commit who's looking around now that Arizona fired their coach. Funnily enough they hired RR to be their new coach, so already we're in a recruiting battle with our old coach!

McNamara is rated as a four star prospect by ESPN recruiting (79 overall), so he's around the same level as Pharaoh Brown. He also just tweeted that he's considering Michigan for an official visit now. Other schools still in the mix include Cal, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Washington.

  1. Benji,
Whats the story on Taylor McNamara? Does he fit into what UM is looking for?

I don't have alot of hope in landing Diamond, Banner and Garnett. Does UM still have interest in Alex Kozan? I have heard nothing about him in awhile. Just wanted to know if he is still a option?

There was a Juco QB at the Neb. game anything going on there? Turner Baty is his name. Does anybody know anything about this?

Do you think anybody will commit at the game this weekend?

  2. Brady Hoke is currently 8th on the list of coachs for "coach of the year". The only two other coaches I'd give credit to would be Bill Snyder and Dabo Sweeny.

  3. Also, I was thinking...

I've never been a fan of taking a RB in this class. I figured we had enough on the roster and the talent was there to develop. I think that has shown through in the past few weeks as Fitz has looked incredible. In the last 4 weeks alone (iowa was the lowly game) he has gained 558 yards, more than half of his total yards on the season. Nebraska and Illinois are both good defenses and he shredded them. Fitz is only a sophomore.

Now, IF Brionte Dunn decides to go blue, we'd have him and fitz AND denard. How dominate would that be? Even if he sat a year, grew up and bulked up, learned the system, Fitz would be a senior, and Gardner would be in the backfield. That would be dominate.

  4. McNamara is a big TE, one who might even be ready to play right away, which is what Michigan needs.

And Michigan doesn't really go after JUCOs.

  5. MI will end up with a 4 or 5 star TE. I don't really care who it turns out to be, because it will be a guy who is all in for Michigan.

PB is by no means a lost cause. Kids will be kids. If coaches can give WR's third chances on DUI's, I'm sure they are more than willing to forgive a hostile visit after a verbal.

MI is still front and center for PB, unless his contemplated position change is to a position other than TE.

  6. OT: It would appear the suckeyes are going nuts on the scout ohio recruiting forum.....Insiders from the ohio faithfuls are hearing words that Dunn has or about to de-commit .

  7. ^Classless a-holes. I can't wait to beat the hell out of them on Saturday. They think that Michigan won't get another recruit from Ohio, well they are sorely mistaken. Hoke and Co. will have 2-3 years head start on Urban Meyer or whoever becomes coach when it comes to making contact with players and coaches around Ohio.

Go Blue!! Can't wait to rush the field on Saturday. Something us students really want...badly!

  8. This is from the Buckeye country regarding Dunn.. doesn't surprise me but how does everyone feel?

  9. Benji,

ESPN Insider is saying that there will be 30 confirmed recruit visitors in for "the Game". Do you have a list of confirmed visitors.

Ryan.....I'll be there this week like every other week. We're beating a 6-5 team that is as bad as they've been in a long time. This is not the field storming game yet......it will be but not yet. Do like we did for Notre Dame......stay and cheer, sing, whatever for about 1/2 hour after the game......we don't leave until the seniors do!!!!

  10. Benji,

I know it's not much but all I have found for visitors so far is: Magnuson, Garnett, Darboh and Cheeson. I'm sure that your list is far more extensive.

Reading that blog made me embarrassed to live in Ohio. It is just ridiculous how arrogant these people are. Sure we dog on Ohio on this site but the way they talk is just so immature. It is times like this I am proud to be a Wolverine. I was doing some twitter stalking today and found Dunns twitter account. I noticed some Buckeye fans talking shit about this kid while he is still committed to Ohio. They were posting on Dunns page how horrible it is that he will be on THE Michigan sidelines while we play Ohio. No wonder kids are switching i wouldn't want to play for Ohio either with fans like that.

  12. I read the link posted from the scout buckeye forum. They are horrible. Everytime a player signs with somebody else we were targeting, or a player leaves our team, its "best of luck" or "wish him well"

When the buckeyes lose a player, they respond with death threats and insults. so pathetic.

  13. I don't understand the forgone conclusion that we need another tight end in this class. What about AJ Williams & Devn Funchess? is it because AJ Williams is a candidate for a position change that we assume they need a third (or second TE)?

  14. Its the very same reason Kirk Herbstreit.. one of their very OWN had to get his family out of Columbus. Its sad.

  15. Two Questions:

    1) Is it possible that Urban doesn't go to Ohio? No one seems to be taking that side of the story? I think the most telling news however, is that he is not broadcasting THE GAME because it is a conflict of interest. If there was NO way he was going to take the job he would just come out and say it, and still broadcast right?

    2) Using past rulings from other schools similar to Ohio, what is a realistic expectation of what the NCAA will bring down on them?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Brad,
I live in Orlando and all the local station have Meyer taking the job. He has even hired a couple ast. coaches already.

OSU will not get what they deserve from the NCAA. They will most likely get probation a loss of 2 scholarships for a couple of years and thats it. OSU has already said they will play in a bowl game this season so that tells me there will be no bowl ban. Sad I know but most likely true. USC should be screaming to the NCAA wanting to know why they got hit harder then OSU.

And if any one follows Dunn on twitter. Please twit to him that we welcome him that he has a home at UM 4 life. We take care of our own.

How about just leave the kid alone. Not including we can get michigan in trouble for trying to contact him and push him a certain way. Were just fans were not employed to recruit athletes.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Robert,
We can not UM in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  19. yes u can for trying to influence recruits. why do you think on sam webbs show they tell you not to do it.

  21. If thats the case we can go to all the OSU website and get them in trouble. Sam Webb can't do that because he is a reporter. We can we are just fans. Thats why.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You cant get michigan in trouble, we as fans have nothing to do with the university. the reason sam webb says it is because us athletes get annoyed by the fact that people we dont know continue to try and push us one way or another. That is what happened when i was recruited and it gets really annoying and after a while you just ignore it

    ReplyDelete
  23. You can talk to the recruits im friends with a few on Facebook, we have no affiliation with the university you cant get UM IN ANY KIND OF TROUBLE

    ReplyDelete
  24. taylor and eric magnuson are seriously blowing each other up on twitter, which i saw over at brices recruiting page. i think that there is a good chance that there is something good going to happen here with this recruitment

    ReplyDelete
  25. yeah I agree with you, I also read on a cost per head website that Michigan needed two extra players besides those you mentioned
