Quick Recruiting Note

Just a quick note to say that four star offensive tackle Jordan Diamond will be at the game on Saturday, per his tweet this week. Along with Josh Garnett, that gives Michigan two top offensive lineman on campus and the Wolverines would settle for either one.

Michigan led for Diamond for most of last season, and through the spring and early summer this year, but have recently fallen back. I think Wisconsin could be the leader right now, but Michigan is certainly not out of it. Lets not forget that we still have his former teammate Chris Bryant on the roster, which could be a big factor. This visit will be an unofficial, so a good experience on Saturday followed by an official during the Winter could really elevate Michigan back into the lead.

  1. P Kenny Allen: A preferred walk-on committed to Michigan. TE Calvin Blank: Blank is a 6'4", 226 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds an offer from Toledo. DE Jake Butt: Butt is a 6'6", 220 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds offers from Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern, Purdue, and UCLA. WR Jehu Chesson: Chesson is a 6'3", 182-pounder who holds an offer from Michigan, along with several other BCS schools. WR Amara Darboh: Darboh is a 6'2", 180 lb. prospect who will be taking his official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend. It has long been rumored that Darboh would probably commit to Michigan shortly after his official visit, so he's on commitment watch. OT Jordan Diamond: Diamond is a 6'6", 289 lb. prospect with an impressive offer list. His teammate Chris Bryant is a true freshman guard for the Wolverines, and Michigan held an early lead before Diamond slowed down his recruitment and visited other schools. At this point there is no clear leader. RB Bri'onte Dunn: Dunn is a 6'3", 215 lb. prospect who's current committed to Ohio State. The potential sanctions in Columbus might be problematic for Dunn, who would fit in well in a power running offense. The rumor mill suggests that the hiring of Urban Meyer would be a negative for Dunn, since Meyer doesn't have much of a track record for developing backs like him. TE Devin Funchess: Funchess is committed to Michigan. S Allen Gant: Gant is committed to Michigan. OG Joshua Garnett: Garnett is a 6'5", 275 lb. prospect with offers from all over the country. He is friendly with Michigan commit Erik Magnuson, who has been working on Garnett to get him to Ann Arbor. LB Ben Gedeon: Gedeon is a 6'2", 215 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds offers from Boston College, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Tennessee. OT Dan Gibbs: Gibbs is a 6'7", 320 lb. prospect with offers from Ball State and Eastern Michigan. RB Drake Johnson: Johnson is committed to Michigan. WR/TE De'Niro Laster: Laster is a 6'3", 215 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds offers from Akron, Bowling Green, and Temple. OT Erik Magnuson: Magnuson is committed to Michigan. QB Shane Morris: Morris is committed to Michigan for the class of 2013. DE Mario Ojemudia: Ojemudia is committed to Michigan. DE Billy Price: Price is a 6'4", 280 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, UCLA, and West Virginia, among others. OG Caleb Stacey: Stacey is committed to Michigan. CB Anthony Standifer: Standifer is committed to Michigan. S Dymonte Thomas: Thomas is committed to Michigan for the class of 2013. S Jayme Thompson: Thompson is a 6'2", 184 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, and Temple. WR LaQuon Treadwell: Treadwell is a 6'3", 183 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds offers from Michigan and Notre Dame. OT Logan Tuley-Tillman: Tuley-Tillman is a 6'7", 280 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds offers from Illinois and Indiana. CB Shaq Wiggins: Wiggins is a 5'10", 160 lb. prospect from the class of 2013. He holds offers from Cincinnati, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Wake Forest, among others. TE A.J. Williams: Williams is committed to Michigan.

  3. I was just doing some reading on Diamonds twitter and this kid sounds like he could still be a Michigan lean. I really hope we get some commits this weekend because its been pretty dull on the recruiting trail this weekend. I was also reading Pipkins twitter and ive never seen a kid so excited and vocal about being excited to play at UM. Its great seeing kids this excited and motivated to bring our program back to national prominance. Also i would really like to see us pull another DT in this class does anyone know of any DT's for 12' we are still targeting. Because last i heard Shittu was out.

  4. I think we're done with DT recruiting, there don't seem to be any potential recruits out there considering Michigan.

As for Yuri Wright, he plays for the #1 high school team in the country, and is therefore still in the playoffs, and his team don't allow players to take visits during the playoffs. So we'll have to wait on his visit.

  7. People turned on Diamond during the flurry of early verbals, way back when commits were coming in pairs.

He and his family said all along that they would take their time, and weigh all of their options. They also stated that academics, and I believe business schools, were a top priority. (I may be mistaken about the business part. There were a couple of kids who stressed the B school potential).

Diamond also said that his coach coached all in for the team. No distractions allowed.

Those are the only "facts" I recall.

With that being said, it seems like the kid is doing exactly what he said he would. Guys like him, Peat, Dunn, etc can afford to wait. They have more options than they really want at this point. So if one evaporates because a program fills, it's a good thing. They look at it like it's destiny.

Welcome recruits! Welcome fans! And even you buckys.

The game has not lost it's luster. The energy is in the air. Proime time on ABC. Can't wait....

    Go Blue!

  10. Blue,
It's not that we turned on Diamond but the kid has been to more UM games this year then some of the current players. He has taken at least 6 trips to UM this year. Thats alot for someone that has not commited. He has also said he like someothers schools alot on just one visit. So thats why we were down on him alittle we would still welcome him with open arms. GO BLUE

  11. How bad do we look... I sure hope our defense and offense steps up! We are lucky to be down 1 point sadly... I hope we come out sharp! And stay sharp for 30 min or more!

  12. first half is a joke for the defense, look unprepared IMO can't cover anyone downfield, luckily he's missed a few wide open or it could be much worse. hopefully a nice pep talk and adjustments at halftime and shut them down.... for the first time in awhile we ARE the better team. Now we have to play like it.

  13. Nice bullshit overturn on the Touissant touchdown...refs haven't given us shit all season. Clutch field goal by Gibbons. Here comes the longest 2 minutes all year...

  14. I hope whoever was in the replay booth loses there job. That should have never been overturned, one view looks short other view clearly looks in. How is that indisputable proof? one camera was looking from just inside the end zone and one just in front of it none straight down the line. TERRIBLE that they would overturn that one.... then a dumb holding penalty when DR didn't even need him blocked. and a dumber PF penalty..... I hope we hang on..

  15. Oh wow what a finish!! Glad we were finally able to pull one out. Great win over a team that was really gunning for us. DR can't be anymore vindicated than he was today. I think he clearly shut up all the naysayers today!! GO BLUE!!!

  16. Well these few calls weren't nearly as bad as the horrendous game-changing bad officiating of the State game at least. Go Blue!

  17. Finally!!!!!!!!! they tried so hard to rob us of this win but we pulled it together and won it go blue baby

  18. I can't wait for some of the reactions from the recruits after this game...hmmm doesn't this offense just seem tailor-made for you Mr. Dunn??

  19. I've been a critic of DR for quite some time. My hat is off to Mr. Robinson. His play the last couple of weeks have made me a believer. This game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated. The future is bright, and let the frenzy to complete the 2012 class begin!
