Does anyone else have a blog with blogspot? If so, how do you post links nowadays, they've changed the format and I can't figure out how it works? Anyway, onto recruiting:
- Michigan LB commit Joe Bolden has been selected to play in the Under Armor All American game this January. Michigan already has one other commit in the game, Terry Richardson.
- Amara Darboh has scheduled his official visit for the Ohio State game the weekend after next. There is a lot of optimism surrounding Darboh and Michigan; he's visited before and seemed to really like it, so a commitment wouldn't be shocking after the visit. He's going to Notre Dame this weekend btw.
- Scout.com has updated their rankings, and a few Michigan commits have made some nice jumps. A.J Williams is now a four star OT, and Joe Bolden and Tom Strobel have jumped into the top 100 overall.
1. Diggs
ReplyDelete2. Wright
3. Thompson
4. Schutt
I don't want Dunn cuz I'm he may scare Ty isaac away. Who in my mind could become a first round pick.
What's with kaleb ringer dropping to a 3 Star
Benji
ReplyDeleteDo you also believe this is a first come first served scenario between Diggs (Scouts 13th overall), Payton (91),Madaris (158) or Darboh (206). Darboh the lowest ranked of the 4 is still ranked #33 in his position.......no slouch. Diggs should be an absolute rock star but has indicated that he won't commit until closer to NSD. Do you think we land a different WR??
Phil
@bluesweden
ReplyDeleteThis is scouts reason why they dropped him to a 3 star:
Ringer, a Michigan commit, has struggled with injuries as a senior and has missed a lot of time this season. There are also concerns about his size at the next level. He was productive throughout his high school career though, and we feel he has a chance to continue to be productive, but liked the upside of a couple others better.
As for Diggs i believe we have the best chance of landing him, due to immediate playing time, and Countess. However, my only worry is we may get 2 WR's to commit before NSD and Diggs will be left out of a full class by the time he decides. As for Payton, Darboh, and Madris i would rather see Madris or Darboh commit because i believe they are more the type of guys who can stretch the field in a pro style offense and i believe we already have enough of the possession type receivers like Payton. I just see our biggest position of needs being WR, DL(with brown switching), and another DB (either Wright or Thompson). So i don't believe we should take Dunn with 2 Rb's already commited, yes i know most view Houma as a FB, but i believe he will be used more like a Brandon Jacobs in the backfield. And with the potential to grab 2 Rb's next year i feel we are good in RB depth. I do not want to see Dunn go Buckeyes but if he is all they got, with no O-line and hopefully our dominate DL he woun't be able to do much anyways.
Bendy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of what you said. I still believe that if Dunn wants to attend UM the coaches will take him. The problem maybe that he will wait to long.
Here is how I think the clss will finish. If UM takes 4 more.
1.Diggs UM will hold a spot for him.
2.Yuri Wright UM needs more help with DBs.
3.I said a couple of days ago that UM may take another D-Linemen with Brown moving to TE. So don't be surprised if UM lands one more DL.
4.Will be a race between 1 more WR and Dunn and a O linemen.
UM may also pass on Wright if they do want another D Linemen.
Thats how I see it so tell me what you think.
Here is my four with the order that they commit.
ReplyDelete1. Darboh
2. Wright
3. Diggs
4. Dunn
I could be getting bad info but the more I hear about Dunn the more I like our chances. I honestly believe if he didnt live in Ohio he would have already flipped.
I read on Bleacher Report that Gunner Kiel may end up at Michigan? Any news on this front?
ReplyDeleteThat would be great news.
ReplyDelete@C-Note don't listen to bleacher report, they are awful! Tho I wish they were right!! I did see that Garrnet IS visting for the OSU game next weekend so thats great news! Anybody know how the vist for the 2013 recruit that was on campus went yesterday?
ReplyDeleteYou know how bad this Denard vs. Devin talk has gotten? It's so bad I am starting Russell Bellomy as my QB on NCAA, and the backups...Thomas Gordon and Jeremy Gallon..you wanna know why? Because they played QB in HS, probably more than Denard and Devin did lol
ReplyDelete-O and Joe Bolden is my punter..thaaaats riiight
LOL didn't Desmond Morgan play QB in highschool too? lol
ReplyDeleteWay to bring it back up after it had died down a little bit...stay classy Will
ReplyDeleteI don't think Gunner is coming here...I thought a lot of the reports were saying after the summer camps that he cooled on Michigan after being basically shown up by Shane Morris.
I absolutely think U of M will keep a spot open for Diggs...as someone else said he's a rock star and talent like that doesn't come around everyday unless you're in the SEC. I could care less about landing Dunn other than the simple fact I would prefer he didn't play for another Big Ten team, especially the Buckeyes. I'd much rather land another talented WR, Wright and either a stud D-lineman or more help in the LBs or CBs.
Why is it that TRich has dropped so far in the new scout 300? He was our top recruit once upon a time and now he's in the All America Game and his stock dropped big time with Scout. I don't get them. THey also heavily penalized Kaleb Ringer for getting hurt. I understand he's not currently playing, but why take him off the list alltogether? It's not like he'll suddenly forget how to play linebacker once he heals! SMH
ReplyDeleteIf you could put a percentage on how sure you were that we would get Diggs, what would you be at? personally for me its 60%
ReplyDeleteI'd say your about right there C-Note. Hopefully his visit puts us over the top with him. I just wonder how much of a chance we have with Garnett now that he is visiting??
ReplyDeleteIf we can beat OSU... and not Lay an egg like we have for the last few years against them.. I think that not only do we have a shot at Garnett, but Banner as well... A win against OSU will do WONDERS for our recruiting.. cause now you have two guys.. one who was here for that great game against ND, and then his team mate here for a win against OSU? money in the bank.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need both Garnett AND Banner...so I'm assuming you guys would prefer first come first served?
ReplyDeleteI think I may prefer Garnett but I'm not picky lol
ReplyDeleteBenji, here's a little update on Wormley. I've watched him all year, but last weekend he showed what he can do. He was up against the best and biggest line he has seen all year in Canton Mckinley and was Dominant. He had four sacks, countless tackles for loss and too many pressures to count. I think the announcer called his name on almost every play. I think this is what Michigan is gonna get and I can't wait to see him lined up next to Pipkins. Should be great, I think defense will be great for a few years.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there has been some talk of Allen Gant lining up at Wide Receiver, I've seen him a few times and I think this is a great idea. He's big and physical and not afraid to go across the middle.
Wormley was definitely a steal for us with him being rated at a 3 star level...he was projected before the rankings came out to be a 4 to 5 star from what I remember...our defense is so much better and it's going to be sick in a few years when Mattison puts more of his system in and the young players learn from our coaches...
ReplyDeleteWasn't the only reason why Wormely wasn't rated a high 4* or a 5* was because his "motor" isn't as high as it should be??
ReplyDeleteI think it had more to do with him destroying people his Sophomore year and then his Junior year he faced double teams for the first time and didn't put up very good numbers.
ReplyDeleteIf a recruit comes to visit, there is obviously interest. But even though Diggs might visit in December, he is visiting Auburn on 11/25 and he loved his visit to Florida. He hasn't said UM is his leader. After he has a great visit to A2 in the dead of winter I will be more convinced of our chances. Plus maybe he will compare academics and realize that UM blows every SECond school out of the water.
ReplyDeleteYuri Wright gets a spot. Darboh gets a spot. That leaves 2, hopefully one for Jordan Payton, who I think is a Braylon Edwards type after seeing his film, or Diggs. 4th and final is reserved for Mr. Dunn or an OL beast.

ReplyDelete[How to put a link in here]
ReplyDeleteYes he did lol
ReplyDelete*added to depth chart*
We're closer to Diggs than a lot of other schools because we have so much going for us, like Blake Countess. That kid is a true Michigan Man. One Diggs visits the decision will be easy. Shaq Thompson will give us an official, hopefully for The Game instead of against Nebraska. Shaq at SS with our incredible DB class plus Diggs at WR with Gant doing the dirty work in the middle with Pharoah Brown and Devin Funchess? Shaq and Diggs are 2 of the top 5 recruits in the country at any position. I can't freaking believe we're close with them. MOAR DREDS SHAQ. MOAR!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome read over at DetNews on former Michigan CB recruit Demar Dorsey. Dorsey is getting looks from Miami, Tennessee and Texas Tech, but said he wants to be at UM so bad that he is willing to walk-on if there are no scholarships available. Interesting read.
ReplyDeletehttp://detnews.com/article/20111117/SPORTS0201/111170324/1131/sports0201/Former-Michigan-recruit-Demar-Dorsey-vows-to-cash-in-on-second-chance
I got this from a message board on michigan's rivals site and would like to share...
ReplyDeleteI've been following recent threads on the Big Ten scholarship limits which have stated that there is an absolute limit of 28 shcolarships per class in the Big Ten, 25 NCAA limit plus 3 oversigns which of course must eventualy be accounted for within the 85 total NCAA limit. Thus, posters are stating that there is no way Michigan could take more than 28 in this class, even if we had 4 or more early enrollees. I did a google search "Big Ten Rules football scholarships" and found the quoted article:
"Back in March of 2010, we wrote that there was a rule change in 2002 that allowed Big 10 schools to accept 3 LOI over the 25 limit, provided they had room to back count the players to the previous year and provided they proper documentation to the conference office regarding the 3 extra recruits. What we failed to comprehend was that the 3 over the limit applied to the 85 limit, not the 25 limit. To confirm this and get further clarification, we contacted associate commissioner, Chad Hawley for further explanation, to which he provided the following:
The Big Ten exception in football is that an institution may oversign by 3. Our rule isn't based on the NCAA limit of 25 initial counters, it's based on the number of scholarships available. Using your example, if an institution has 65 countable scholarships returning, the institution could sign up to 23.
When we approved limited oversigning in 2002, part of the deal was that institutions that did oversign would need to provide "sunshine" to allow for peer review. This reporting includes identifying the individuals who received the offers that created the oversigned situation. In addition, institutions that actually oversign would need to provide a person-by-person accounting for how the institution comes into compliance with the NCAA limit of 85; this includes reporting on not only the new signees, but also the status of each student-athlete who received countable aid in the previous academic year.
Over the years, a few institutions have used the exception to oversign, but what we've seen is that the majority do not use the exception."
It seems clear from this article that posters have been misinterpreting the Big Ten rule. The focus of the 3 oversigns rule is the total limit of 85, not the 25 annual limit. What does this mean? If our total number of scholarships beig carried over to 2012 is for example only 55, then we have room for 30 additonal scholarship players in 2012. While we are limited to 25 in our official signing class for 2012, if we have 5 early enrollees and have only 20 scholarships given in our 2011 class (which I beleive is the case), then we could in effect take a total of 30 this year.
Now, whether or not the coaching staff would do that may be unlikely. After all, they probably would want to have at least a couple of scholarships to dole out to walkons. In this regards, one must keep in mind the Kovacs is a walkon and NOT a scholarship player though he has earned a scholarship ineach of the past two years. He does not count against our overall limit, but the staff undoubtedly would want to have a scholarship available for him next fall.
I hope this helps clarify the misinformation that has been postedon the board. Given Michigan's past recruiting practices, I doubt that we will ever be in the position again under Hoke to consider taking more than 25 players in a class, much less as many as 30, but this year, with the poor recruitng by the past staff together with the defections that come with a coaching change, we literally could take as many as 29 or 30 in this class.
Todd, thanks for digging this information up. It's great to know that there may be a little leeway if a number of great recruits come knocking... which seems to be the case with the interest in UM right now.
ReplyDeleteIf we could take 30...........
ReplyDelete1. Diggs
2. Darboh/Payton
3. Shaq Thompson
4. Brown/Dunn
5. Garnett/Banner
6. Wright
Could you imagine?! Although I feel like this would be very unlikely :(
That would be great if we could pick up Demar Dorsey again. If he gets his attitude and grades in order, which it sounds like he's doing, that'd be huge.
ReplyDeleteMichigan doesn't take CC transfers, period, because of the academics. I wouldn't get too excited about this.............Unless Hoke can get the University to change their policy.
ReplyDeleteHow many player will be on scholarship next year for UM not counting the incoming class?
ReplyDeleteThe football team might not take JUCO transfers but they will take walk-ons if the University will take him. I'm not sure why Dorsey moved to Grand Rapids, but he now qualifies for in state tuition.
ReplyDeleteAce Williams says Dunn is visiting this weekend. I guess if he visited for the OSU game it would be alittle awkward. I am not a big fan of Ace but I do like to list the source.
ReplyDeleteDorsey said he'll walk on, we don't need to offer him a transfer scholarship
ReplyDeleteYa I also heard Dunn will be up here with his Cousin Dymonte.
ReplyDelete@Chris and everyone,
ReplyDeleteDidn't UM take a JUCO linebacker a few years back, Austin Panter? He was supposed to be the real deal and I don't think he panned out whatsoever. From mgoblue.com:
Senior linebacker Austin Panter joined the Wolverines in 2007 after two seasons at Butler Community College, where he earned National Player of the Year honors in 2006. Panter recording seven tackles while seeing action in seven games in his junior season, and through four games this season he has five tackles and a fumble recovery. Panter served as a senior game captain against Wisconsin, seeing action on special teams.
I remember being psyched when we swooped in to grab Dorsey a few years ago and extremely bummed when he was not eligible. If he's still the player he was then I would welcome him back. I think I speak for all of us when I say that UM can take all the upper-tier DB's it wants because our secondary has been prone to WAY too many huge pass plays for a long time now.
hey dear blogger, I do have a sports blog on blogspot and you are right they changed it a little bit, but I found how to put links, if you want me to explain it to you, it would be an honor, this is an example online bookmakers, see I know how to do it :D
