September Officials

Writing a post a day is harder than it used to be...

There aren't many spaces left in the class and Hoke will probably just accept commitments straight away, which means the timing of official visits in September could be key. Let's take a look at a few that have already been scheduled.

September 3rd (WMU)

Only one guy down here at the moment, but it could be an important one in Amara Darboh. I'm sure there will be others, especially the local guys as well as a load of current commits.

September 10th (ND)

This will be a big one! Brionte Dunn will be there, which means his cousin Dymonte Thomas will probably come too (UM would love an early commitment from him!). Another big time offensive recruit, Jordan Payton is scheduled to take in the game, and he'll be joined by fellow west coast prospects, Zach Banner and Joshua Garnett. Banner has had the visit scheduled for a long time, and if Garnett is able to go, I think he will.

  1. If Garnett committed and Banner wanted to as well, would Hoke accept both of them? I would LOVE to see Banner, Garnett, Dunn, Darboh and Wright. We may have to go to 27 schollies, but with the exception of Darboh all of these guys are top 100 players! That would be 9 players in MaxPreps top 100!

    Cofidence factor:
    Extremely: Darboh
    Very: Wright
    Fairly: Garnett/Payton
    Somewhat: Banner/Dunn

Also, I saw on Rivals that Adam Bisnowaty doesn't have us in his top 5. Bisnowaty haters can rest easy.

  2. Elijah Shumate has named his top 5: Rutgers, South Carolina, Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia.

  3. The Bisnowaty news is huge, that means most likely the coaches have slowed on him. They would only do this if they felt confident they could get a better OLineman. Garnett and Wright both would be huge. After them my wishlist goes in this order: Payton, Shittu, Dunn, Darboh, then obrien.

  4. Its a shame Jordan Diamond pretty much disappeared. Zach Banner was offered both basketball and football. With the recruitment Beilin is doing, I think Zach Banner may want to jump in the fold. Damn Banner and Mitch McGary!! I say Garnet jumps on board first. E. Shumante also plays RB. I think he's the teammate of Wright as well. This is getting intense.

  5. This is getting AWESOME! Also, what are the chances that Allen Gant plays WR with the other DB's still being recruited?

  6. I'm calling TOP 3 across all recruiting services for our Maize N Blue. I think Texas is limited with scholly's but damn they are rock solid with their recruitment. Don't think they can land #1 if they sign less than 20. Still early though.

  7. With limited spots remaining the rest of the recruiting class will be fun to watch. Hopefully UM has everything wrapped up after the ND game.

  8. I see the latest rumor is that Tony Posada is transferring. If true, I wonder if the number of OL recruits for the 2012 class will change.

  9. MGOBLUE is reporting someone is leaving the team. Does anybody know who?

  10. What is happening with the 2011 class?

  11. Jer-

    My speculations:

Jones raved about MI being his dream, and was either home sick, or FOS, and jumped at a chance to join the number 1 team in the country, who suddenly found themselves in desperate need of his services. Close to home, no less.

Posada? If true? Some are rumoring he is giving up football. Who knows. Could be an injury, or he's just sick of football already, and/or wants to concentrate on something better. (I have a relative who was an All-State player in MI and was recruited and accepted by MI. He gave it all up because he could not balance the demands of FB with his long term career goal. He has NO regrets).

Don't ring the panic alarm just yet. He was a 3 star OL, destined for a certain red shirt, and an uncertain playing future. Especially given the trend in the program's recruiting.

If true, I wish the best of luck to the kid, whatever he decides, and for whatever reason.

One more open spot for Peat to think about, although I believe he will opt for a warm weather destination. Nothing like training outside, in comfort, year round. That's one of the reasons MI will always be at a disadvantage.

  12. I know alot of ppl on here arn't from MI, but did anybody see the lions vs browns game? Burleson scored a TD there croud was cussing him outtalking bout his mamma lol, he did the labran celebration throwing powder in the air, rubbing salt it the wounds lmao. Loved it! Damn ohio anyway....

  13. I have heard Kalis is waffling is that true?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Kalis has been very true to Michigan, and he sure is not going back to Ohio. I would be absolutely shocked if he even considered leaving. And with the loss of an OL and the looming loss of another LB (more than a rumor, seems like it just isn't official). I believe this class has potential for 27. With the loss of the LB we will be at 24 open spots, and just it seems like the program will lose more than just two guys between now and Feb.
Now the best case (still likely scenario) is:
    Wright
    Garnett
    Banner
    Payton
Then the best available player left (unless the coaches really want another position)

  15. The OL for 2013 is going to be very shaky. We might have to start two RS freshmen. I am nervous for our OL in two years.

  16. Why are you guys so positive about Garnett and Banner? I have heard multiple fan bases say that they have a good feeling about them, especially Garnett.

  17. Who's the linebacker that is out?

  18. It is rumored to be Isiah Bell, but nothing has been confirmed

  19. Tony Posada, has left Michigan. Anybody know why?

  20. No reason has been given, but he showed up 30 pounds over his playing weight. I am guessing that did not go over well.

  22. The reason Tony is leaving was never released.

Kalis said in a recent interview that he is not wavering on his commitment. OSU fans have bashed him non stop his he committed. There is no way that he goes back to OSU.

I think that the lines might have been crossed a little between a linebacker and Tony leaving. So I wouldn't be surprised if that is wrong.
