Jarron Jones to ND

Four star defensive tackle Jarron Jones has committed to Notre Dame this week, having once been a Penn State commit. At one point he was very high on Michigan and was trying to schedule both unofficial and official visits.

This isn't a big deal for UM, I don't think he was even that high on their board given that Pipkins has committed and they are still in play for O'Brien and possibly Azizz Shittu.

  1. I don't know what Brain Kelly is telling these kids or promising these kids but ND is putting together a good D class.

  2. Kind of strange that they said no to Schutt, and now Jones is going from PSU to ND, and Schutt to PSU.

I agree with Benji, this would have only been a blip on the radar if Pipkins had not committed already. I think they know they will land O'Brien, and are waiting for him to decide.

  3. Shane Morris is 1 of 2 guys to get a 5 star rating on Scout!!! ....and I gotta say Shittu and Pipkins would be lovely wouldnt it?

  4. There is a nice article on MSN.com sports about coach Hoke and conditioning coach Wellman. Its all about leadership. Jason Whitlock wrote it. Good read.

  5. I dont think ND turned down Schutt in favor of Jones, I think they turned down Schutt because they got Day. They had 1 slot open for a pure NT in this class and Day filled that spot. Jones is more of a 3-4 DE

  6. GT, I meant that it's kind of ironic. Schutt wanted to go Irish, then Blue, but waited too long. So he finally goes with PSU to be part of a great DL class, and now Jones switches to the team Schutt wanted, in the first place.

  7. Isn't it ironic, don't you think. . . It's like RAIN!!!!

  8. What's everyone's bet for the biggest pleasant surprise during Saturday's MI game?

I'll take DR looking good under center, making good decisions, and completing a very high percentage of easy short passes, while keeping them honest with the deep ball.

Second place is the D acting as a unit, and flying to the ball.

Third place is making a field goal.

Fourth place is fielding punts without bobbles and fumbles.

  9. Thanks a lot Cass,

Now that stupid song is stuck in my head.

    Here's revenge: Guantanamera.

    ReplyDelete
  10. LoL. . stuck in my head as well. The D will hold WMU under 250 total yards. D-Rob will go for 15-22 221 yards (2TD, 0 Int) with 11 carries for 132 yards and a TD.

  11. Wile will hit a 45+ yard field goal that will send The Big House in a frenzy.

    ReplyDelete
  12. i think if were good on all phases of the game(offense, defense, special teams), then we will be a dominate team this year.

    @cassbmw

wile is a beast. with that being said, if he even makes a field goal from 10 yards, the crowd will go nuts lol. obviously we havnt had a kicker in a couple of years.

  13. Anybody know what 2012 prospects will be visiting for the game this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Amen. Have goose bumps already. I hope I can sleep Friday night. Sorry guys/ladies for being giddy.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think Ross will be in attendance (Commit). Darboh re-scheduled. Other than that I'm pretty sure one of these bloggers will tell you. BlueMarrow and Hoke knows alot.

  16. I'm not hearing about any visits this weekend. Between the kids being so early in their seasons, and the holiday weekend, combined with the huge game the next Saturday, it's not really surprising.

I did see where Pipkins was invited to the Army AA Bowl yesterday. Good for him. I'd love to see him earn a 5th star by the end of the year. But, I'll settle for him just playing great, getting better, and staying healthy!

    ReplyDelete
  17. 2013 Gairus Coleman and 2014 RB Lorenzo Collins from farmington hills harrison, will be visiting a game that has yet been told. i do believe it might be the Nebraska game. considering they both hav interest in that school.

these are really great prospects considering thier bieng talked about on rivals. it would be smart to offer these kids early so we can grab them.

  18. @blueMarrow

i think it doesnt matter whether pipkins or any other players are ranked five stars. pipkins can play and hes a FIVE star in my rule book. just wait till he has a break out year in his last high school season.

tell ya what, this kid is going to make it in the pros.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hokemania,

It does not matter to me either. But, he was quoted as saying that it matters to him. It's his goal, like being selected to the Army AA game.

I'd just like to see the kid continue to achieve his goals, and have his dedication, effort, and performance positively reinforced by others. (Others with no vested interest in his success or failure.)

I like the kid, too. The last time I was this excited about defensive recruits was the year Woodley signed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I hope his goal is winning a NC.

    ReplyDelete
  21. A few of the Detroit commits are taking unofficial visits. I am not aware of any prospects that are visiting, most people are either going to the ND game or one of the later games.

But... Mitch McGary (2012 bball recruit, #3 in country) is visiting this weekend and it going to the game, so it's still a very important recruiting weekend.

  22. @BLUEMARROW

ive been reading this blog site for a while and to tell u the truth, u were my favorite. u made sense on all of ur comments. that bieng said, a five star would help our class be number one.

pipkins is the player we needed. hes a big reason y i think michigan is going to be back to an elite program. go blue.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @hokemania

    Lets not forget Shane Morris...

Kid is an unbelievable stud, he will bring Michigan back to elite status, not only because of his play, but his passion. He committed as a sophomore in high school before most of the people in this incoming class. The kid can play, which will bring in stud recruits, and he obviously bleeds blue. He (to my knowledge)hasnt taken any visits, hasn't swayed in his commit, and has done his fair share of recruiting as well. THAT is the type of kids I want to see playing for Michigan. I grew up a Michigan fan, and if I were good enough to play football in college (even if I was my high school was so small we never had recruiters) I would walk on and earn a scholarship before I played anywhere else, and I think he has the same attitude.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Is UM looking at Godin as a 1 or 3 tech?

    ReplyDelete
  25. shane morris is an athlete that brings icing to the cake. hes the next tom brady in my opinion. also, in the recruiting process, there are going to be more highly recruits looking to play with shane morris. thank god he grew up a MICHIGAN man and not that school down south (ohio state) or we would be in trouble.

i read on rivals that godin, with the right technique, can play 1 or 3 tech. obviously maddison can be that coach to teach.

anyone else excited about the first game of the season? i cant sleep...... what am i going to do?

    ReplyDelete
  26. @hokemania

I don't want him to be the next Tom Brady. I'd rather him be the next chad henne, at least in the college level. Henne was way better for Michigan than Brady, and although I want the best for all UM players when they go pro, what they do while they are here is what I like to see the most.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @hokemania

    forgot to mention...

I wish I could put myself into a coma until saturday. All I can think about is gameday, walking to the stadium, standing with 100+k of my brethren and watching Michigan football!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am just praying ESPN is playing the game here in Florida. It's between Minn.-USC and WM=UM game. I have my finger crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @jer89

If not, get one of those "live tv" accounts and you can stream the game!

Do any TV services offer college game coverage like they do for the major sports? If not, they should!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lalondtm,
    Can you recommend one?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I've never used one, I just know they exist...

    but ustream.tv looks legit.

    maybe wwitv.com ??

    ReplyDelete
  32. actually, I'm sure you could find a sports bar somewhere that would be playing it!

    ReplyDelete
  33. if u have dish or comcast, u can order a year college package. this will give u all the games u want. it cost a lot though.

if u can find me a bar in florida that will play the michigan game over the florida game, i will personally give u a million dollars. not kidding. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  34. not to change subjects or anything, have u guys seen the jersey michigan is wearing during the night game?
i think its a little wierd becuz of the "M" logo. looks childish.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks or the ideas guys.

The Jersey look cooler after looking at them for a couple of minutes.

I was in DC last year for the Michigan vs. Illinois game.....I just googled "UofM bar in DC" and found Buffalo Billiards. Went there for the game and it was literally a sea of Maize and Blue.....there were at least a couple of hundred Wolverine fans and everytime we scored.....yes you guessed it....The bar broke out in "Hail to the Victors". Not saying it will work but try it for your city (a little tougher in your neck of the woods). A friend of mine also did this for NYC and it worked. Good luck!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Www.p2p4u.net. livestreams all sporting events from what I've heard

    ReplyDelete
  38. It probably will be on ESPN3. I always stream games on there with excellent results.

I'm not sure where you are but try the bar closest to you:

    Florida
•U of M Club of Southwest Florida: Tarpon Cove Yacht & Tennis Club,Wiggins Pass Road, North Naples. MSU, Nebraska and OSU games only.
•U of M Club of Tampa Bay Beef O’Brady’s, 4516 S Dale Mabry, Tampa
•U of M Tallahassee Spirit Group The Hobbit American Grill, 400 Capital Cir. SE, Tallahassee
•U of M Club of Central Florida Gators Dockside, 5142 Doctor Phillips Boulevard, Orlando
•U of M Club of Miami-Fort Lauderdale Upper Deck Ale and Sports Grille, 906 East Hallandale Beach Boulevard, Hallandale Beach

I seem to recall you telling me once that you were near Orlando so give Gators Dockside a call

  41. and I'm sober!!!!

Feel like I should be loading the car with my tailgate gear already!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Where I live in San Diego, the game is being shown on ESPN2 and the Minny @ USC Game is on the ABC affiliate, I'm sure it will be that way in FLA.

When one game is on ABC, the other is on ESPN2, it's been like that for a couple of years and will be that way this year. They just invert the networks depending on where you live.

Also, how can anyone say Henne was better than Brady, are you nuts? Brady beat TSIO and won Bowl Games, Henne got hurt often and wasn't clutch till his last Bowl Game and somewhat during the 2006 season.

    Go Blue!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Henne was a better Michigan player than Tom Brady. Brady only played for two seasons, and although they were good years, it wasn't enough to prove how good he was, hence his 6th round draft pick. If he played in college the way he plays now, than obviously, it's no question. But Henne's college stats are far better than Brady's. That's all I was implying. If you look at the future though, I would LOVE to see Shane Morris have Tom Brady's skill set, I just want to see him use it for 3+ years rather than one and done!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ya forgetting about Elvis Grbac (Collegiate Years). Yes, I agree Henne was more impressive than Brady (college only), but Brady didn't play much until the last 2 years @ most. Grbac was the shit. Shane Morris will make a name for himself. You can't compare him to Brady/Henne/Grbac. You'll compare future UM Qb's to Morris.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would like to thank all Go Blue fans for helping me trying to find away to watch the game.Thank you very much. If its not on T.V I will have to try the streaming. I have two kids that want to watch the game with me so the bar is not a option.

As for Shane Morris lets let Shane Morris be Shane Morris. Maybe he will be better then them all.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Think we'll see a four star for Ojemudia??

Or anybody else for that matter?

Using rivals rankings.. who's the most likely to bump up a star?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jer, If you have trouble, email email me, and I will give you the address and password to my Slingbox. You can download the player for free at Slingmedia.com. It works well if you have home wifi.

I can't watch the game real time on Saturday, so your viewing won't effect me. Just don't delete it when you are done!

    ReplyDelete
  48. The last time I was this excited about a QB recruit, his name was Matt Gutierrez! (I was never a Mallett fan, although the only better arm I've seen up close and in person was Roger Clemens).

Let's all just remember the kid is an HS Junior. He has miles to go as QB to even get where Gutieerez is now, let alone be compared to Tom Brady.

Talk after the BBQ was that, out of the QB's and recruits tossing the ball around with receivers, only one arm stood out: Devin Gardner.

Ability to get better. DG clearly has it. I'm betting SM has it too, but you never know....

  49. Here's a story about trying to find a MI game on TV:

I was moving into an apartment in Chicago/Lincoln Park years ago. It was the Saturday of the season opener, and I had no cable service yet.

I walked North on Clark street, going in every bar, asking them if they could/would put the game on. No, No. No.

Finally I stumbled into a huge sports bar, and watched it there. The bar was almost empty. Toward the end of the game, literally, hundreds of people showed up, all at once.

I was like "WTF, where did everyone just come from." I walked out the front door, and right in front of me was the answer: "Welcome to Wrigley Field."

A Cubs game had just ended. In my blind haste to find a TV, I never even noticed the stadium.

  50. @Jer89: In Florida its slated for ESPN2. Brighthouse does have NCAA package but I think its roughly 120/for the season. Its called ESPN GamePlan

    ReplyDelete
  51. My story,
My wife and I just bought a new house in a new development in central Florida except the builder forgot to install cable in the development. It was the start of football season.

I called the cable company everyday for a month lucky for me I talk to the same lady everytime. I called one day and she told me she was just about ready to call me and give me good news Finaly I received good news. I got my cable turned on 15 minutes before the UM and MSU game.

    Blue thanks for the offer.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Cass,
I have Brighthouse. They have both Minn - USC or WM=UM game. I think they will play the UM game just don't want to get a surprise on Saturday. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  53. Buffalo wild wings if one is by you children friendly and good wings too. They should have the game on

    ReplyDelete
  54. If you have son(s) with high testosterone's I recommend Hooters or Wing House (Florida).

    ReplyDelete
  55. Cass, man, you must not be married.

"Bye honey, I'm taking the kids to Hooters for 3 hours to watch the Michigan game."

"OK, dear, and you can drop them off on the curb when you're done. And then keep f@#cking driving."

    ReplyDelete
  56. LoL. I actually am. 10 years with 1 child (daughter). This is where you guys start bashing me: I am pretty much trying to convince my girl to "Just Say No" to boys, that they are nasty AND EVIL. In fact, when she gets older (7 now) I'll nudge her more towards females. (BIG smile creasing my face). As a former SAE member, I refuse to let someone violate my kid like I've seen girls here being used.

    ReplyDelete
  57. And that means she will be boy crazy, and probably work at Hooters.

My niece never wanted anything to do with boys up until this year (Soph in HS). It was like a switch was thrown, and a new program started to run on her mainframe.

Now guys in trucks are picking her up to take her to games, etc. I've been telling her for 10 years: "See that lady sweeping the parking lot... She got PREGNANT in HIGH SCHOOL!"

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anyone read that article on Darboh?

I didn't know he was a Sierra Leon refugee.

Cool story. I hope he goes Blue!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Need someone to confirm: But looks like Jeremy Clark and AJ Williams has a slight boost in ratings according to ESPN - though Clark was rated @ 74 and AJ @ 75. Clark should be a consensus 4 star @ worst.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ryan Van Bergen is saying UM fans can have high hopes for the D this year. I hope he is right.

    ReplyDelete
  61. TomVH,
Is reporting that Garmon will visit this weekend and Peat will visit for the ND game.

Everything Michigan and more.blogspot.com is reporting 3 more player suspended for the Akron game for receiving more money. I agree with something they wrote if Tressel was the problem then why are they still doing the same things. Sounds like a lack of institutional control.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Looks like 3 more suckeyes got suspended..... Jordan Hall, Corey Brown, & Travis Howard. Wow, & Boren said he left because there wasn't any family values, u got values now big guy!

    ReplyDelete
  63. This string is going in several directions, but did anyone see that ohio reported 3 more players who received improper bennies this year? Sounds good to me!

  64. is there anywhere to watch the maize and blue in Jacksonville, FL?

  65. Here's a link for finding UofM bars in your area.

Like Jeremy said.....try Buffalo Wild Wings I have in several cities with success....call them 904-448-1293

  66. ESPN3 is showing a ton of games. I watched the wisky game tonight. Offensive line looks pretty tough for having three new starters. I know it was UNLV, but they still gave Russel Wilson a ton of time. B1G should be pretty exciting this year. Anyways, picture quality on ESPN3 is pretty solid and you can do picture in picture as well. Its a good option for non-cable people like myself.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I just checked and ESPN3 is indeed showing the game.

  68. @jer89,

I live in central florida also. The game is being shown on abc tomorrow.
