The blog is back...

I've been a little distant from the blog this summer, and haven't posted nearly as much as I'd have liked to, but the lack of recruiting news hasn't helped things either. Anyway, the blog will now have my full attention pretty much until the end of the season, which is when my next exams start.

There will be at least one decent post per day, and I'm hoping to start a regular live blog either on Sunday or Monday evenings that will discuss all things Michigan recruiting, as well as the previous game that weekend. And I promise that it will be faster than the last liveblog! (I've figured out how to do it properly :P)

  1. May get a chance to watch Joe Bolden play Cocoa (solid team). Just that the trip is 2 hours. Need to verify the exact date.

  2. First time posting. Long time fan of your site. Glad to hear your going to be more active. I find myself visiting the site several times a day hoping for something new. Ill be sure to continue. On a side note. I live in Cincinnati, OH. Its good to see some of our best high school players going blue this year. Cincinnati is about 75% OSU, 15% Notre Dame, and 10% Michigan. Seems you can find a few smart people even in enemy territory. Looking forward to a good year. Hoping for a great, but will be happy with a good one in year of Hoke #1.

  3. Benji,

Glad your back we missed to you. I hope everything is well in your world? I missed your last live blog and ask earlier in the week if you could maybe start doing one weekly so I am happy to hear you are going to start one.

I am not sure how you feel about Ace William? He has a rumor UM maybe investagated by the NCAA for Pryor related stuff. Any truth to that?

WE are glad to have you back and looking forward to your blogs.

  4. I don't think it has any effects @ all. He never enrolled and Rich Rodriguez and staff are no longer part of the team (Fred Jackson doesn't count, he's always been with UM)

  5. Great news, Benji.

When can we expect your decent post for today?

Just kidding. I hope you were spared personal grief during the riots, and things are getting back to normal, civilized, Britain.

As an aside, you are surrounded by many Michigan fans. Just post a notice on Craigslist announcing a gathering at a nice sports pub running the ND game, and you will find yourself surrounded by MI fans.

Two weeks from today will be like Christmas morning for me. Can hardly wait.

  7. Benji glad to hear you will be posting more often bc I as well check the site multiple times per day lol. Side note 14 days!!! I just got my night game tickets but I'm curious to hear what everybody else thinks regarding 5-0 to start off the season. I work with all ignorant state fans and I strongly believe we can start off the season with 5 wins at home. The hype surrounding a 5-0 hokeamania squad from our amazing fan base, espn, and the rest of nation gives me chills. Then a W at NW and were 6-0 heading into east lansing.... what do you guys think?

  8. Absolutely jholko! NW has a solid team, but an ACL is serious. Persa is their gem. He won't be able to run like he did in the past. We should only be concerned with the ND game. But its a home game @ night which will have a packed house. The key in that game believe it or not is the fans. Talent wise is relatively close with the D-fense going to ND.

  9. Sure, I'd be ecstatic with a 6-0 start, but I'm honestly so happy with the direction of the program that I almost don't even care what the short term success rate proves to be. Almost.

I hope they come out playing old school ball in the first game, and save all of the "special stuff" for the night game.

I envision them charging out against ND with power on one play, spread and speed the next, sprinkled with down field passing. I'm dreaming of them up by 28 before ND even realizes their nose is bleeding, and pummeling them through the 4th quarter whistle. No standing 8 counts. No mercy. Total domination.

That's the dream. The reality: Strong showings, continued improvement, solid defensive efforts and well executed special teams play. I'll take whatever record that brings, and move on with another top 5 class in 2012, and a host of 4 and 5 stars for 2013 clamoring to jump aboard the Hoke express.

Getting excited just thinking about it. I may have to watch Lloyd's last game tonight to get even more juiced for the season!

    Go Blue!

  10. Reports from Pro Day states "Dumbo" ran a 4.41 40-yard dash. Thats very impressive for his size. Kudos. Must be those ears!

    ReplyDelete
  11. That's impressive. I wonder what position he will play, since he can't throw, and 40 times for QB's mean almost nothing in the NFL.

Best of luck to him, though. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the big show. I'm particularly interested in watching him get introduced at Ford Field.

  12. When I first saw "Dumbo" I thought you were going to post something about Mark Dildodio and moo u.

  13. Michigan 38th in AP poll. ND at 16.

I just LOVE being the underdog at home for an historic game!

  14. I truly believe he's decent throwing. Which can be refined in the NFL. I say he stays put @ the QB position or see him as a WR/TE. I agree 40-times are pretty much useless once in pro's, but 4.41 as a QB in the NFL goes a long way. Other than Michael Vick and that one cat in Tampa Bay (QB#11?); its rare to see 4.4's. Either way he's not a michigan man so I'm closing my mouth on him here on out.

  15. I know. I wish I could go to Ann Arbor. Never been to the stadium. I will eventually before my time. Damn, Blue, you must followed college football longer than I have. I think in '87 I began watching College (Michigan).

  16. I think Terrelle Pryor will have success in the NFL as a QB, he is similar to Cam Newton and Josh Freeman. If Cam Newton can do it so can Pryor, he has a little less accuracy on his passes but I agree with CassBMW, he can refine that in the NFL. There are plenty of teams that need a quarterback.

  17. I am fired up about the season getting ready to begin. I'm from Indiana so I'm really ready for them to put the beat down on ND!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't think Cam Newton can do it, TP was another college star who already peaked. They won't be able to get away with half the crap they do against pro defenses, Michael Vick can't even last a season. I don't understand the concept of drafting a qb and then trying to train him how to throw a football and call plays. Shouldn't they, you know, already be able to do that?

  19. Let's try to stay classy when we talk about people we hate. And I don't know why you guys would even hate him, he directly put OSU in worse shape than when he came.

  20. One of my golden adages: it's not how good you are, but how good you can become.

    Ability to improve is EVERYTHING.

And, I don't even need to go South for an example. I can stay local: Drew Henson.

    Cass-

I was brought up on Michigan Football. (I'm hopefully early into the 3rd quarter). My Grandpa and Dad were huge fans, and my Dad was an alum after attending on the GI bill.

They always loved to tell their favorite story every Thanksgiving. They had decided one year to go to the last game of the regular season, down South. They took the train, and had the time of their lives. The game later became known as "The Snow Bowl."

My personal favorite memory is standing on the soft, thick, Rose Bowl turf on a clear, crisp early evening. The day had been quite warm, but it was cooling off fast.

I stood there watching Charles Woodson yelling "You can't say nothing now" with a rose clenched in his teeth, right before a team chant of "It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine" broke out. Lloyd just stood their beaming in his soggy cloths, but it wasn't Gatorade in his eyes.

One of the top 5 days of my life.

  21. OK, just to set the record straight, it was really THE BEST day of my life.

(Wife finally went to bed ;)

  22. Anybody else watching Jake Roh's high school game?

  23. A 6-0 start would be fantastic and have everyone excited, but if the past 2 seasons are all the history you need to know that it isn't how you start the race, but how you finish. By the end of the last 2 seasons, I think we were all well over the euphoria of the early undefeated accomplishments. That being said, I hope we drill ND!!!!

  24. Man Mark, I usually enjoy reading your posts, but to see you defending talking about this fool on our UofM board is craziness. He may have put them where they are today, that doesn't mean I care at all about his 40 time or if he ever plays football again. He gave us 3 beatings. I have seen enough of him.
