Three star RB Donovan Roberts (Norman, OK) will announce his college decision tomorrow, and its between Pittsburgh, Arkansas, Michigan, Tulsa and Arizona.
Roberts hasn't visited Michigan yet, so thats a pretty good indication that the pick won't be UM. Very rarely does a recruit commit before visiting. A quick search on Twitter will tell you that the Arkansas Razorbacks are the favorite, as his parents are apparently visiting there on Wednesday...bit of a giveaway.
So unless something changes over the next 24 hours, don't get too excited about this announcement.
In related RB news, TomVH of MGoBlog announced that four star RB Greg Garmon will be visiting Michigan soon. The Wolverines currently trail UNC in the race to sign him.
Benji,Do you think the ncaa should change the recruiting process.Maybe make it where recruits can't commit til like begining of December to give the kids time to visit all the schools they want to.
ReplyDeleteAnd what do you think will happen or should happen with Tressel job.everyone can anwser this.
I would be surprised if Tressel is still coaching when we play them this Nov.
ReplyDeleteIt will hurt their recruiting for sure! So Michigan probably can steal a few or two from them, oh yeah.
The NCAA cant stop a kid committing, because in essence a commitment means nothing; it's purely verbal. The real commitment is when they sign the letter of intent.
ReplyDeleteBBoy i would be very surprised if Tressel is not coaching OSU next year. I think he will miss all of 2011 and back for 2012. OSU is to affraid to fire him in fear of not finding a better coach( I say bring back John Cooper LOL)Specially when you have the AD ( I think it was the ad that said this ) I just hope coach Tressel doesn't fire me. It would be better for OSU to fire him in the ncaa eyes but I think he stays.
ReplyDeleteBenji I just meant that kids would have more time to visit the school and coaches. sence that where they will be spending the next 4 to 5 years.
ReplyDeleteColumbus doesn't seem to want Meyer. The over all feeling in Columbus is a deep disdain for all that is Urban Meyer

ReplyDeleteinteresting story. It is the one Sam Webb is talking about. The 2004 article where Maurice Clarret accuses Ohio State and Jim Tressel of providing money and vehicles. His accusations may have had some truth to it considering what we know today
I understand taking players who want to come and that you always cant judge a player by his stars but arent we jumping the case when we sign a three star tailback or whatever position when we have a possibility of signing 4 and 5 star running backs/ position. I just think with the small number of recruits we shouldnt settle for 3 star players that will take up roster space for 4 years when we could get decent kids later this fall with a strong season and great recruits next year when kids see where michigan is heading and OSU gets hit hard
ReplyDeleteBrionte Dunn just re-opened his recruitment.....per Tom VH. The scandal at O-Lie-O state appears to be the determining factor.
ReplyDeleteGo Blue!!!
Without researching it my numbers and details
ReplyDeleteAre going to be off but....
I remember reading that in Hoke's final years at Ball St, he sent like 3 or 4 lineman to the NFL. I'm sure those recruits were not 4 and 5* recruits.
So, while I agree with you, I trust that we have a coaching staff that has an eye for talent. I'm also assuming this means they can coach them up to.
Von Miller was a 3 star junior prospect. The coaches will base their decisions on heart more than talent. No more 5 star CB prospects washing out for Michigan.
