Once again I've got a bit of time to kill before my weekly soccer game, so if you've got ANY recruiting questions, send them to me via twitter and I'll answer them as best I can. Here's my twitter profile.
Benji, could Stefon Diggs be the next Charles Woodson if he came here? I think it sounds like he wants to be a safety and WR. Also, Zach Banner..,if he wants to play fball and bball, Michigan is the perfect place because we can always use a BIG tackle and bball needs a Center in the worst way.
Ryan, probably not. I really don't know why scout.com listed Diggs as a Safety, nearly every school is recruiting him as a WR. As for Zach Banner, he says he'll decide between football and BBall sometime this year, so he might not try to play 2 sports in college. Jenn: Not sure whats up with Conway, we haven't heard much of him in a while. If I hear something, I'll let you know.
Thank you! Oh, is there any substance to Pike and DGB being a package deal? I think both would do wonders here and could bring back the Brady/Terrell and Henne/Edwards like combinations. Also, how good of a chance to you give UM to land Jordan Diamond?
I cant speak for "The Man"(Benji) ut I think we stand a great chance for Diamond. He is really close with 2011 commit Chris Braynt. I just want to hurry up and find out what happens with the whole Ringer,Bolden,Ross,RJS cluster.I dont see how in the world we can take 4 LB's after taking 3-4 last year!
The reason you take so many LB's is because a 17-18 year old kid is pretty much guaranteed to put on weight over a 4 year span.. so if they see potential for him to be a DE you get em and put them on a weight program and have you a DE prospect...Also competition you got young guys pushing older guys it just makes the team that much better
Who do you see from last years Red Shirt class coming in to make a big impact this year? We get so excited about these recruits, when they redshirt we forget about them because we have invested in the new players. I've hears a little about Jake Ryan having good bowl practices but thats about it.
UMFAN, then can we expect the same, from DE. Do you see kids recruited as DE that become DT?
Not a normal case, but Dennis Rodman grew like 10 inches post high school. It'll be awesome to actually let some more of these recruits red shirt and get a year to get stronger, adjust to college classes/life, and learn the college game.
Can Michigan cut a couple of place kickers to open up scholarships? Or maybe they can try a 35 yard field goal to keep there scholarship if they make they stay if they miss it bye bye.
Sorry, I've been barbecuing for the first time this year! Ok, questions...
Ryan: Pike and DGB aren't a package deal, but Pike will recruit him to whatever school Pike chooses. They are in contact, probably weekly. I think Pike will convince him to visit Michigan at least. Michigan is the clear leader for Jordan Diamond, and assuming nothing goes horribly wrong in his recruitment, we should get him during the fall?
Jennifer: I think Jake Ryan and Josh Furman could be two redshirt guys who really push for playing time this year. Neither will be starters come September, but they are both making strides. And Chris Rock is an example of what you were saying, recruited as a DE, but looks like he will play DT in college.
Dang Benji you cook out and dont bring us any ribs when you come to answer our questions? We find that rude here in the states. lol Just messing with ya but glad to hear that Rock is a DT now. I have the feeling Ringer may end up at DE since he is already listed at 230(on some sites).
@ Jennifer yea DE's can become DT's..Depends on how big they are coming out of high school..If you have a DE's who is 240 you wont want him to gain 50lbs so he can plat DT but if you have a DE who is 270 you might ask him to gain 20 and switch positions if thats better ..We had Brandon Graham came in a MLB and left a DE.. Jonas Mouton was recruited as a Safety he grew into a LB ..Just depends on where the coaches think you fit best
Laron Taylor is the third, OLB... I'd say not a high chance at all because Taylor isn't gettin offeres from the bigger schools like RJS and T-Rich. Laron's biggest offer is Iowa, I believe.
Ugh.....y'all are killing me!! Haven't had any new comments to read the last couple days, my iPhone is becoming a paper weight. Lol. Benji, how many games did you pick them to win this year on your pole over there?---> just curious..
Trust me I know the feeling I think I like mgorecruit more then mgoblog, maybe its just because Benji is a bit more involved and what not and maybe its just the awesome community we have but whatever did anyone else hear about pike and the dome shot on the ref at the seven on seven?
D-Rich I'm with you.I think this is becoming a better site and it there is no doubt the community is better! That being said the Pike hitting a ref is a BAD thing no matter what the story is. He is just a 17 year old kid,I just hope it is something he learns from.
Yes, this is a better site. I find myself checking it several times a day and reading Benjis posts and the comments. No, i have not heard about Pike. Whats the story?
Pike was at a 7 on 7 camp, and nailed a ref in the head with a pass...and was ejected. whether or not it was done on purpose or if it had some sizzle on the throw is yet TBD.

ReplyDeleteWhat ever happened to WR Shawn Conway? I thought he had some accademic problems. Is he out there for a possiblity 2012

ReplyDeletelol. Good idea Jer89
ReplyDelete16 scholarships?
ReplyDeleteHow do those retarded s.e.c. schools seem to have 25-30 every year?
Because they cheat and always have.
ReplyDeleteI was born and raised in Michigan and now live in Florida. So I know about the sec cheating. Can someone make the Gators go away?
ReplyDeleteSorry, I've been barbecuing for the first time this year!

ReplyDeleteBenji, love the blog brotha. What are the chances all three cass tech boys end up at the same school?
ReplyDeleteBenji, How many scholarships does Michigan have to offer this year. I have heard anywhere from 16 to 25? I like the 25 better.
ReplyDelete16 scholarships but will more than likely end up being around 20-22.
ReplyDeleteAll three Cass Tech guys? I think Michigan has only offered two (RJS and Richardson).
ReplyDeleteLaron Taylor is the third, OLB... I'd say not a high chance at all because Taylor isn't gettin offeres from the bigger schools like RJS and T-Rich. Laron's biggest offer is Iowa, I believe.

ReplyDeleteI think I chose 8-9 (specifically 8), but thats more to do with the easy schedule than the strength of the team.
ReplyDeleteAnybody hear anything on how greg brown is doing in spring ball?
ReplyDeleteI heard he did quite well in the last scrimmage, but I don't think he'll threaten for playing time early on, unless he has a really good summer.
