Another commit?

Scout.com's Allen Trieu just tweeted this:

@TrieuA Allen Trieu

"Should be news coming on one of the Midwest's best..."

and then...

"Good news coming this week for #Michigan"

This basically means that another commitment is going to happen in the next few days. I'm hoping that the tweets are indeed connected, which would mean Michigan is about to land a big time prospect. Assuming this, here are some candidates:

- TE Ron Thompson: He's scout.com's #5 TE so he would qualify as one of the Midwest's best.

- DE Chris Wormley: Oh my...if Wormley commits then the Michigan fan base will pretty much go crazy...in a good way.

- LB James Ross: With Bolden committing, maybe Ross has decided now is the time for him?

- DT Sheldon Day: We know he likes UM a lot, but he plans a late decision.

- OT Jordan Diamond: He favors UM, but wants to take his officials.

- QB Gunner Kiel: We can dream...

I honestly have no idea who it could be. But I doubt it will be Godin or Thompson, given they've set announcement dates for about 11 days away.

Interesting but pointless facts:

1) So far all of UM's commits have come from Ohio or Michigan. The number of commits from one state has never exceeded the other by more than one. It's currently Ohio 4, Michigan 3. So for this pattern to hold, the next commit must be from Michigan.

2) So far all of UM's commits have come in pairs, sorted by position. Firstly they had 2 OL commits, then 2 LB commits, then 2 TE commits. We have just had a LB commit, so for this pattern to hold, the next commit must also be a LB.

So...if we consider both of these together, James Ross is the next commit? :P

  1. I think its Wormley. He and Ringer was tweeting back and forth this weekend. Also by the way I wanna give some big props to Bolden for calling out that punk reporter from Dayton that ruined Ringers commit. Way to be looking out Bolden!!

  2. When did he do that? Must have missed it

    ReplyDelete
  3. Could you post a link to that?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Sorry it wasn't a news article it was TomVH diary post at MgoBlog. Bolden said "I didn't want it to be a big deal, or anything to happen like what happened with Kaleb Ringer in the newspaper. I thought what that reporter did was wrong and I hope he realizes that."

  5. Maybe it is Kiel, didn't he just visit Michigan. He might be blow away by us, so cant wait to jump on board. haha

  6. Next commit= Chris Wormley? Chris Wormley= Worm^?!?!?!?!? lol only jokes

    ReplyDelete
  7. Did Brionte Dunn end up visiting this weekend? He could jump ship, but Wormley and Ross seem the most likely. Tom VH tweeted that there could be two big announcements in the next week for UM

    ReplyDelete
  8. It's not Brionte Dunn, he didn't visit

    ReplyDelete
  9. There is now info that there will be two possible commits this week...

    Go Blue!!!

  11. This week is really exciting!!! I can not imagine we wont be in the top10 recruiting class...too bad we're not the SEC ppl..haha

    ReplyDelete
  12. So we may have 2 big time commits this week? How awesome would it be if its Wormely AND Pike?? This week may be the jump off point for this program going forward

    ReplyDelete
  13. Where did you get there are two big commits? Cause Tom vh is talking about the same guy in his tweets with Chris Barnett as Allen Trieu is with his tweets I do believe.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Tom VH already has cleared up that it's not Pike. Pike is solid to Auburn. What Barnett is talking about is something else.

    ReplyDelete
  15. In my own opinion its not Dunn either. He said he was going to wait and see what happened at ohio state and he didnt visit this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Are you forgetting Mattison went down to dunns school?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Barnett has that " he has his eyes on Kentucky" " has faith in a kid from Kentucky" and also that " he "expects commits from kids in Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky soon.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Who is big in KY? Other then pike becAuse tongue made it clear its not him?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well whoever it is, this class is about to blow up. Michigan could have around 10-11 commits by May 12th alone.

    ReplyDelete
  20. A top 10 class is now looking like a real possibility

    ReplyDelete
  21. Did some snooping and the only prospects we have listed in KY is early unranked WR, two RB and a OT

    ReplyDelete
  22. So how many total recruits do we have possibly commiting soon... the silent, plus two more now?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes. I am also hearing a rumor that Pike is visiting Ann Arbor in the next two weeks. This could be what Barnett was talking about. Take it for what it's worth I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  24. We are looking at Godin announcing, Thompson announcing, this best of the midwest recruit and speculation by Tom and Barnett of someone on the 7th or 14th of this month.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Exciting to speculate. If Pike wavers and does switch to Blue...makes you wonder what took place during the Auburn visit?

    ReplyDelete
  26. THANKS lash but where are you hearing this about pike?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Maybe Auburn has some cash flow problems right now?

But in all seriousness, I doubt it's Pike. He clearly stated when he signed that he was 100% Auburn, and that he was going to recruit everyone to Auburn. I just don't see what could have changed so drastically for him to commit elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You are hearing a rumon about Pike visiting in next 14 days ? Proof of said rumor ? Link / Website/Source ?

    ReplyDelete
  29. He may be a nice addition but do we really want a flip flopper? If he didn't choose Blue in the first place, maybe he doesn't have Blue in his blood.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I heard this stated on a Michigan recruiting facebook page. Thats why I said take it for what its worth. I am not stating it as 100 percent fact. Barnett is leaving it wide open with this statements and to me a guy who is really good friends with Zeke would not just throw his name around on twitter to Tom Vh for no reason.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Go to mgoblog.com, Tom VH already has stated, it's not Pike , Barnett is talking about something else.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So Barnett is also stating it is not the same commit as Scout's TrieuA is referring too.

I do have to say, it is an added bonus that these kids are starting to spread out to one a week. It keeps our buzz going each week.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes. Furthermore, just mentioned on mgoblog.com, that the announcement could be made tomorrow Monday on Wtka Radio. Sure does does the suspense & buzz keeps you on your toes eh ?

We will all know soon, unless the story is leaked, hopefull not by the Dayton Daily News , lol!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you jayjit112, I dont want pike at Michigan. He has already shown that he is a poor decision maker. 1st by throwing a football at a referee, and 2nd by choosing auburn.
Not a good idea to chase a quarterback that can't make a good decision is it?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Starting to need a scorecard. Away on vacation and trying to keep up. Can somebody please tell me what commitment announcements are expected and when. We have our silent, this weeks impending surprise and Godin and Thompson coming up....... does this sound right. Sorry just been out of touch.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Gobluenorth

    you are right on...

there sounds like noise of 2 more coming. I don't think either are the silent.

Scouts.TrieuA Allen Trieu is talking about one, and Chris Barnett (cbarnett2011) is tweeting about another one he says is different from the one Allen is speaking of.

Both claim to be big gets

    ReplyDelete
  37. jayjit112,

I don't know if that holds water. We have flipped commits in the past. Roundtree was originally commited to Purdon't.

These are 16/17 year old kids. They are going to have some indecisions.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Would love to see Wormley and Pike!! Can only hope!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't know how much stock I would put in to what Barnett says his tweets are all over the place and don't always make sense. I would love for the commit to be a 5 star QB with lots of 5 star frinds to bring with him. If the commit is Pike do you think Auburn found out what the ncaa is going to do to them?

Benji I bet your happy everyone stopped asking about the silent commit.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ok, I'll give 100 Benji-bucks to anyone that names the right commit that we get tomorrow. I'm going Chris Wormley

    ReplyDelete
  41. Its Dunn.

Its irrelevant that he didn't visit because he's obviously not afraid to change his mind and said he was looking around but still committed. Trieu said it was one of the midwest's best. TomVH said it was something very 'public'. Read between the lines about what that could mean...

The choice of word here 'public' is intentionally ambiguous but TomVH hasn't used that sort of language before - so we're talking about something different than Thompson or Wormley or Day, which just falls under the category of typical recruiting win. Nothing that would get the non-recruitnik public talking. What does?

It doesn't get more public than an OSU flip to UofM. Its that or Pike and TomVH has said that Barnett's comments (about recruiting someone elite in Kentucky, which can only be Pike). Conclusion:

    It's Dunn

    ReplyDelete
  42. I find it hard to believe Dunn would commit to Michigan without even visiting Ann Arbor first, especially when it's so close for him. I know he had an in home visit with Coach Mattison last week, but still, it's hard to go from an OSU commit to a UM commit without visiting.
Remember that he planned to visit with his dad too, so I'm guessing that his family have a big role in his recruitment, would he commit to a school without them seeing it? Probably not, and definitely not if they are Buckeye fans!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think it's going to be Shane Morris. He tweeted a video with #goblue yesterday, and he's definitely a top prospect from the midwest. Did they specify 2012 or could it be a 2013?

    ReplyDelete
  44. We'll see Benji. I'm sticking to my Dunn prediction based on what people are saying. People have committed without visiting before and Mattison is an ace recruiter.

Could be Kiel, I guess, but I don't think anyone else would warrant the hubbub.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Never posted before but benji, I love the blog! My brother and dad are wolverines and I plan on being one soon. GO BLUE! I hope the comes are Pike Dunn and Day, but that's TRUE BLUE wishful thinking. No matter who they are welcome top the family and HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi Adeem, glad you're enjoying the blog! James Ross is certainly welcome in the Michigan family!
