Quick Dunn Update (Updated)

TrieuA Allen Trieu
According to @BillBankGreene Canton Glenoak (Ohio) RB Brionte Dunn will take his official visit to #Michigan next weekend.

This is good news for us, as some (myself included) had concerns that Dunn might shore up his OSU commitment this weekend whilst on his official there. At least now Michigan will get another major shot to land him.

UPDATE: Brionte Dunn will not be enrolling early. This means the saga is likely to go on until late January/Signing Day. This will give him more time to build a relationship with Ohio State's 2nd coaching staff, but it also means he'll get to see Michigan on the national stage in the Sugar Bowl. The key event is still this weekend though with his official to UM.

  1. Good news for UM. I wonder if the OSU new OC is a factor on why he is taking his OV to UM.

  2. Great news! One question I have. We already have Fitz playing very well, and Hayes waiting in the background. Add that to Isaac possibly committing next year. Who will are starter be? How can we possibly keep all these great backs happy?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hayes in moving to the slot and Isaac is far from a guarantee with ND and ohio after him too. I could see Dunn and Fitz both playing a significant amount next year. If we really want to be in the upper echelon nationally, depth at all positions needs to be improved.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Great news anyway you look at it . Just hope our staff can finish it .. when will he make up his mind ?. Anyone have a date ? # GO BLUE

    ReplyDelete
  5. If UM does land Dunn he will most likely redshirt. I think Fitz and Rawls will get the most playing time next year. In two years it will be a very good fight for playing time. Has a school ever had 3-1000 yard rushers in the same season? Not going to happen but I can dream.

  6. on a different note, yuri wright said on his facebook that he a a boring time in colorado, which wasnt a huge surprise, and that he couldnt wait to get home.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I had heard that about Hayes, I guess I just wonder if he has the hands and speed to play well at slot. I liked him the minute he showed up on campus. Anyone with his kind of conviction should be on the field. I hope he can make the transition well. Who knows maybe it will open up some nice run plays to the slot position.

    ReplyDelete
  8. @michiganman, Hayes is often used in practice to simulate the opponent's fastest offensive threat (Martin for MSU), whether it be at RB or WR. He was a really good receiver out of the backfield, so I doubt there will be any difficulty with the transition. Good to hear about Yuri Wright, he's #1 on my wishlist right now.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I don't think this is good news, I think this is GREAT news.. I think it's a lock and Dunn will be enrolling early and be on campus next month!

    ReplyDelete
  10. @michiganman1975...Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson...Peyton Hillis/McFadden/Felix Jones...Le'Veon Bell and Edwin Baker...I can keep going...

    ReplyDelete
  11. On another note, I read that Diamond said he had an awesome time at his OV at Ohio.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Man if we land Yuri we will be crazy in the back end. We already have 2 4 star db's in this class. We have 2 big time players already on the field. This back end d could end up something lsu would love to have.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think we are gonna land yuri and Dunn. Its all but in the bag. I would really like to get another WR like Jordan Payton. Keep Payton and Stonum on the outside with Darboh speed in the slot. Reminds me of the Manningham, Arrington, Breaston Combo. With Fitz and Dunn in the backfield. Cant wait for Shane Morris to arrive.

  14. Bri'onte Dunn had a good time and all the current commits were working him pretty hard. Dunn was telling people he's going to work on getting Kalis to flip over to the Bucks, obviously a good sign. A couple of the commits I spoke to all said they think Bri'onte will stay with OSU. Dunn is supposed to visit Michigan next week. let's see if that happens. If he does, I won't be as confident as these players.

    Whats up with that?

    ReplyDelete
  15. You can find it at the following link. http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/football/2011/12/buzz-on-visits

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lol. I would say if he thinks they need Kalis to flip so he can get running lanes, then maybe we do have a good shot at him. Does he not have confidence in your recruiting in the o-line?

    What's up with that?

    ReplyDelete
  17. @e2 and anonymous, It's an Ohio recruiting site. What do you expect? I wouldn't think too much of what they post. Plus, Kalis has affirmed his loyalty to Michigan and Brady Hoke already.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @MichMan
You do realize I'm a michigan fan right? I wasn't saying whats up like haha, i was saying it like, wtf is this.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh ok sorry lol. I thought I saw you drinking some hater-aid lol. Speaking of hater-aid, does anyone else think that Herbstreit is rooting for the sec because Ohio State never taught him how to be a real man?

    ReplyDelete
  20. And I too am a Michigan fan, just wanted to specify the origination of the B.S. Didn't take long to figure out it was an Ohio site...but thanks for the info none the less. Not worried about Kalis and thrilled Dunn is taking his official this coming weekend. GO BLUE!

    ReplyDelete
  21. My opinion. Dunn is waiting for the last possible moment to make the jump to UM. It will be right around Xmas time when he will make the switch. He doesn't want give the knuckle heads in ohio extra time to harass him on his decision.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I just heard that Dunn is not going to enroll early now. It sounded like he was not going to be able to get everything done for school that he wanted to. I think he is going to try to take his time more. I don't know if this is really a bad thing or if it is a good thing. I would not be too surprised if he decides to hold off on an announcement until signing day. I think Michigan still has a lot of catching up to do in regards to Dunn.

    ReplyDelete
  23. One thing Ace said, and I never like to believe Ace, but he brought up a good point. He says Dunn is waiting to commit until the holiday because he doesn't wan't to deal with the backlash and harassment that Kalis deals/dealt with.

Again, I think most of us here don't hold much water in Ace, but I agree that this could be a very good possibility. And like Benji said, all we had to do was make it through the weekend. THEosu is digging their own grave with Dunn at this point. They hire a spread coach, they hire a spread OC, this is not what Dunn wants and Brady Hoke will assure Dunn that when he gets there and is ready to play, they will be running a pro style/west coast team. The amount of 1000 yard rushers that Hoke/Borges have produced, compared to Meyers 0, thats all there is to it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @lalondtm Well said. I keep going back to Dunn's statement that he doesn't want to play spread offense. I think he is being respectful by giving OSU a chance to state their case. He should know that Hoke puts the run game first and foremost. The proof is in the pudding with our assembly of one the greatest Oline classes in the nation. I think Dunn wants the stage to showcase his talents and make it to the NFL. He can do that best at UM

    ReplyDelete
  25. The offensive coordinator OSU has hired is a SPREAD guy. Dunn ought to think about that.

    ReplyDelete
  26. At this point if Dunn comes that's great,BUT I really want Isaac in next year's class even more. Dunn is a much better fit at Michigan than Ohio but who knows at this point. A month ago my contact was 90% sure of Dunn to UM but now is at about 55%. I just hope Wright visits soon so he can announce to us during the Army All American game!

    ReplyDelete
  27. If he has not committed to UM now, he probably never will. It seems he is just soaking all of the attention in just like our good friend Tattoo Pryor back in '08. If he wants to play in the spread and ultimately run for 500 yards a year at best than do it. If he wants not to get drafted into the big leagues than let him. There is plenty of talent in the backfield the following class. GO BLUE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Breaking news: Per Sam Webb- Michigan has the EDGE with Dunn!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Is it true Demetrius Hart will be coming back to Michigan since he will be leaving Alabama?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dee Hart? what do we need a scat back for? we already have v smith. we need backs that can absorb contact and gain consistent positive yards.

    ReplyDelete
  31. it kills me to see Steven Elmer to ND!!! Do we have any chance with him? he is the 10th best player in the country according to 247sport.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm confused. Is this sarcasm about UM having the edge on Dunn, and Dee Hart leaving bama??

    ReplyDelete
  33. I want Ty Isaac over Dunn and hart

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'd be surprised if Hart was coming to Michigan. He tore his ACL and has missed the entire season. With that said, this would be a big gamble for Michigan unless he came as a walk on and proved he was worthy of a scholarship later on. Not to mention, he's the one that skipped out on us last year, so why would we be open arms this time around? Unless, again, he came as a walk on, which obviously isn't really a gamble for us and would be worth taking a look at.

If someone has a link, however, that states otherwise please share it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. BTW, last week on this blog I saw posts of Allen Gant mentioned he may be playing some WR once he gets to UM. According to Gant (per Rivals), the coaches see him on defense. He played LB this season and see his versatility as a strength (Im assuming if he is a good WR he may have some ball-hawking skills) and he may be a hybrid-type of player between a big safety or a quick linebacker.

"They see me as a hybrid-type," he said. "They said I have an advantage because I'm versatile and I can play both free and strong safety, or I can line up as an outside linebacker in a nickel package. That's what I have going for me which will allow me to get on the field quickly."

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hart back to Michigan? I haven't seen anything about that anywhere else, however I'm iffy. Hart is the type of player that we are trying to steer away from, small and shifty. He's got a lot of talent, and could be a great scat back/return man, but with the direction Michigan is going, he's not worth a scholarship without walking on first. Let him be a 3rd down back and a return man.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Looks like Grant, Chesson, and Kozan all are likely to commit... I'm a little disappointed that we have 5 slots left and are not being as selective as it appears we could be. Obviously we all get second rate info, but it seems like we are in pretty well with a few recruits.

I know we have needs and don't want to miss out completely, but the top tier recruits tend to commit in Jan and Feb, if you don't have any slots left that means you aren't going to get any of those types of guys.... I guess it's a catch 22

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think Michigan should be forward with Dunn and quit this BS pin the tail on the workhorse game. tell him straight up that if he comes to Michigan, he will get the opportunity to play in big-set packages and he will pound the rock. BUT, we are not going to continue to waste our time with chasing him if he is going to delay his announcement and inevitably chose OSU.

people: we have Thomas Rawls, who is 5'10 220lbs of bowling ball that will only get faster and stronger. he is a favorite of mine, and I'd love for him to get the rock more.

we should offer Dunn one last time during his visit, whilst staring at a mural of tyrone wheatley, anthony thomas and chris perry, if he says no, then the chase is off, there is still a couple big backs (Brandon Radcliff) that can help us. but waiting will only hurt us more. the odds are in OSU's favor. 60/40

bottom line: if Dunn goes to OSU, his role will be limited, he will probably redshirt, and he will see time near the goal line and short yardage and thats about it. if he wants to go there, let him go. but we need to stop wasting recruiting time by going after one stud.
QUIT WASTING TIME AND SECURE ANOTHER BRUISER

minimum requirements for a Michigan back should be

    height 5'9
    weight 210lbs
stick to this criteria and we will be just fine, fred jackson will do the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think i'm gunna be mad if this dude comes in and he's not the next wheatley, but the next mcguffie

    ReplyDelete
  40. Have to agree with dust, he needs to make the decision. Granted we are not in his shoes but you would think that his inner circle would be in his ear telling him which offense could possibly lead him to the next level.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Forget Elmer, Forget Hart, Forget Dorsey, and Forget anyone who doesnt want to be here. I dont like the idea of settling on lesser star commits, but I remind you that not everything is stars.

we have all seen what Bielima and Dantonio have done with their classes, and they were not full of 4-5 star talent.

Ty Isaac is a absolute stud as I have said before, but you can never have too many good backs. Injuries and so forth can decimate your ranks especially in the big ten. Also nice to have fresh legs ready to go. I do hope Dunn commits I think he will compliment our backs nicely.

Grant... eh... ok... Chesson... eh... ok... Kozan im sort of OK with, but with the base we have established in terms of Oline and protection, I think we could have been a tad more selective. But then again im not a coach, and perhaps they see something in these guys that we havent.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think we are all thinking like fans and not like a parent or as if we were in his shoes. His heart is clearly with OSU and yet he probably knows that UM fits him better as a player. What if we were a 17-18 year old kid 6'0 195 (a la Denard Robinson) just as highly touted as Dunn. Our DREAM school is Michigan, in facy we BLEED Blue, but the Urban Meyer's spread is my best chance for collegiate success and maybe even a national championship. Do you go Blue or go to Ohio? He's a kid and he should be afforded to take all the time he needs. Some kids probably do just like the attention, while others may truly be torn between schools. I think we all (including myself) should be slower to judge and keep perspective that this might be the most important decision of his life. His decision should be made on his timeline, not on the fan's.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wow people. Dee hart is crazy good, we would be silly not to take him if he wants to come. Size during recruitment is only a number! If they have the frame for it size can be added. You guys are getting too caught up in ratings and don't realize the real judge of what a player will be is in there potential, not a star rating!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Congrats Benji, your blog was linked to on MLive:

    http://www.mlive.com/sports/bay-city/index.ssf/2011/12/anthony_zettels_penn_state_car.html

    ReplyDelete
  45. heard from multiple people hart will be coming to michigan...id say 95% chance he does

    ReplyDelete
  46. I realize this is just people's unqualified opinions, but lets stop with the whole lesser recruits nonsense. It is just stupid. If the coaches weren't ready to accept a commitment they would not offer.

I hope we get Chesson and Grant. Chesson's film is very impressive. He attacks the ball and seems to be a redzone threat. With Grant that is a position of need. Dunn is a beast I hope he goes blue, but if he doesn't oh well. Wright and Reeves are the most important, because Mattison's scheme requires a lot of Man coverage. Last but not least OL I would love to have Diamond or Garnett, but cool with Kozan.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dee Hart is a playmaker and you can never have enough of them. He can be a return man and third down/change of pace back. That is how Bama was gonna use him. It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Caleb,
Well said. But I do think the coaches need to have a hard talk with afew kids. And just let them know where they stand with UM and find out where UM stands with them. They may need to let Dunn know there may not be space for him if he waits to long.

I don't care if your a 3,4 or 5 star player if a UM coach offers you a scholarship they see something special in you. There is some rumors going around there maybe some commits coming in Grant, Chesson and Kozan. I would take all of these kids.

If UM can get Dee Hart and I don't know if this rumor is even close to being true well UM should take him. He is a Trent Richardson clone. A real bowling ball.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Dee Hart was arrested last spring. I don't think we need to deal with that. Plus he had his chance here at Michigan and took a hike.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I have not read anywhere that Hart is coming to Michigan. Until someone provides a link with some proof, I don't buy it!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dee hart is not coming to michigan this dude anonymous is a buckeye fan our someone who reads this blog friend and is just messing with people dee hart come on he chose not to csme to michigan already why now cuz there 10-2 and going to the sugar bowl alabama just sucks and are playing in a shitty bowl game right yesterday he knew treadwell now he knows dee hart 95% he's coming to michigan come on man

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dee Hart is not a Trent Richardson clone. Richardson is 230lbs while Dee is 185. Why would UM take a kid who tore his ACL and nobody knows how his recovery is going.

    ReplyDelete
  53. When T Rich got to Bama he did not weight 230. So Hart can add weight. Besides I cant find anything on this transfer so we can lay this rumor to rest.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think its kind of amusing that the fans seem to be split down the middle. Some want U of M to hold out and wait for some bit time recruits, others want Hoke to force a decision out of Dunn.

As others have said, RB is not a huge need, so if they want to hold out for a stud like Dunn then go for it. As for TE and WR, those are more of needs, and I think it makes sense to take quality today over what might be.

At the end of the day Hoke led Michigan to a 10-2 record (despite what he says RichRod would not have done that). Hoke has my trust until he proves otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Dee Hart and Trent Richardson are completely different styles of backs. We all know what Richardson is having been able to see him all year, but to throw out the term "clone" is pretty far off. Hart was the top "all-purpose" back in the country last year and his game most closely resembles Percy Harvin, Hart just happens to be 5'8 though. He is a great pass catcher (he had 50+ catches both his jr and senior years) and is a terrific runner. His game is all speed and thrives in open space. Richardson came to Bama at 5'11 and 210lbs and was always an shorter Adrian Peterson-type back that was going to jam it down your throat between the tackles. Other than the dreads, these guys aren't too similar at all.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I have also have heard reports of Hart coming to Michigan. From what I heard, coaches are talking to him to see where he is at and discussing a possible scholarship.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't want Dee Hart at Michigan.
and don't argue with me that "you can build on his frame". his frame is 5'8, and his biggest asset is his speed, which would surely be gone if he even broke 200lbs.

we don't need burners, we need bruisers. Dee Hart would do nothing but prolong the implication of the pro style offense that these coaches run. I want Dunn. but if that can't happen then I'd be interested to see who we would get in his stead

    ReplyDelete
  58. BTW, where are any of you getting info that he is even considering coming to Michigan?

    (Dee Hart)

    ReplyDelete
  59. @ caleb

If I were a die hard UM fan but THEosu and the spread fit me better, I'd go to Oregon.

Those who have mentioned it are correct. The coaches aren't going to offer a scholarship to anybody they don't think can play ball.

As for star ratings, no, they don't mean the world. IMO, star ratings give a general idea of how this kid COULD perform at the next level. We've had some 5* players do awesome, LaMarr Woodley, Chad Henne, and some not so awesome, BWC. At the same time Mike Hart, Braylon Edwards and David Molk were all 3* players. It's all about what the coaches see, and how the players develop.

I couldn't find anything on Dee Hart either, and I agree, mr. anonymous is could certainly be a troll, seeing as how he has yet to provide a link for anything.

I think Dunn would be a nice get, but I've sided with the few who agree that RB is not a top priority at this point. Even less so now that the season is over and we've seen the production from Fitz.

    On another note

I honestly think we are going to shut down VaTech. Not shut out, but shut down. Our team certainly got better as the year went on, and our coaches have a month to prepare, and for our guys to rest up. I understand VaTech has the same time and such for preparing, but they are "good" year in and out. Our team has way more weapons based on the complexity of an offense we can run, and with a month, Mattison will have our boys ready to play.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The dee hart talk is not true!!! Come on guys- the dude sayin that is just tryin to stir up talk on this board! Jesus Christ so gullible!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'll one up him- Kris frost is considering a transfer- he's real big on Michigan rite now!!! So I have heard sources outta auburn saying!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. To switch up the topic..

It looks like Tommy Schutt has switched from Penn State to Ohio..

    ReplyDelete
  63. anyone else notice that Schutt committed to ohio?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I live in Bama and have to put up with Bama fans every day, including the father of a reserve (possible starter next season) defensive back. Word around the "water cooler" is that Dee Hart got into some sort of scuffle/fight in the locker room a couple of weeks ago (at least 2nd "situation"), so he might be leaving Bama on something other than his own volition.

    ReplyDelete
  65. and as for these trolls posting on this UM blog...... just ignore them.... giving into their half minded ohio rumors is what they feed off of because they are bottom dwellers and if we ignore them maybe they will stop i will only read or respond to the names I recognize.

    ReplyDelete
  66. This comment has been removed by the author.

  67. Its on twitter and Scout has switched to OSU. Next week he will switch to Minn. it will be there turn. Whats this is 4 team now. First ND said no thanks then UM said no thanks then he commits to PSU now its OSU. He is like Jennifer Aniston.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I live in on the georgia/alabama border and I have heard a lot about Hart on some local websites that he is done with Alabama and looking for other options. Michigan has came up on quite a few of them.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hart sounds like trouble and damaged goods trying to transfer from one school to another. I certainly hope we wouldn't burn a scholarship on this guy. If he wants in...let him walk on and earn it.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm discontinuing the Hart rumors. If these were in fact truthful possibilities, SOMEBODY would have written about it somewhere, plus I chatted with TomVH this morning and he didn't mention anything about it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Im happy and will support who ever Hoke brings in.

    Bottom Line.

    ReplyDelete
  72. How about we talk about the visitor from the past weekend. Like Kozan, Grant and Chesson?

    ReplyDelete
  73. if dunn doesnt commit to Michigan, will we recruit another running back?

    ReplyDelete
  74. check out this link for all the latest on UM recruiting question:

  75. Schutt committed to ohio. I still feel like we should have accepted him in this class. Hope he's a bust haha.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Ready on an Alabama blog that dee hart has been struggling at bama with personal issues. I still cannot find anything saying he is leaving bama...if anyone has a link about him leaving shoot it out there. I watched the whole mcguffie thing go down and from what I see this looks like maybe he is on to something...but cannot confirm it. Let me throw a name out there. Andrus Peat...why are we kicking this kids door down? It seems like there are few schools on his list compared to the talent you would get.

    ReplyDelete
  77. My mom is transferring too.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anyone see se'von pittman commuted to Ohio? I love to see MSU screwed over, but I don't know about this one... Not when Ohio benefits from it!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yip, he flipped... Maybe Burbrige too? Wishfully thinking :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. It looks like Meyer has convinced several top recruits to play for Ohio. I think Jordan Diamond will be their next commitment hopefully we know what we are doing to close this class out strong. It seems like we are only talking to 3* guys at this point outside of Dunn & Wright. IK stars don't mean anything but still we should be targeting top guys at this point in the process.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anybody have ncaa 11?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Anybody else feel we should utilize our fullback more? I love giving the ball to the fullback and passing it to him on the check down when nothing's open downfield. Whaddo you guys think?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Remember Aaron Shea, Corey Schlesinger, or even Dan Alexander of nebraska?

    ReplyDelete
  84. What was the name of that whack job that played FB at WV? Owen something... Or Mike Allstot? Didn't the own kid knock himself out of a game for needing stitches after head butting his own helmet?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Chris where is your mom transfering to and how many stars is she?

    ReplyDelete
  86. I said this before, and gonna say it again. Please get off the whole stars thing. Getting a 5 Star recruit doesn't guarantee he will play like one. Many kids are over and under rated. The coaches are recruiting talent, they could care less how ESPN or Scouts rate him. We have great coaches and they know what they are looking for in recruits, and just because a kid shows interest doesn't mean he will sign with us. I remember when we all thought Diamond was a lock to go blue. Your wish list is just that your wish list it is not reality. I wish every elite kid would want to come to AA, but the fact is they don't. I also would not want that because you need role players to go along with stars to build a team. This is just IMHO

    ReplyDelete
  87. Dunn deciding to not enroll early is very telling and NOT good for us, if he was coming to Michigan he would want to enroll early so that he wouldn't be around for the backlash about his decision from the locals, the fact that he isn't now practically guarantees that he will be staying with OSU, no need to worry about backlash from the locals if you just plan on staying committed...

chances at getting Dunn are now forked imo...

    ReplyDelete
  88. One thing that many coaches consider that often these recruiting sites do not is potential. How good is the high schools weight room or training program in general. More than likely if a kid is coming out of a football factory like Don Bosco these players may have less room for development because they have already pushed their bodies and football skills so much. On the other side, their may be some kid that had a weightroom built in the 50's and in a small or rural town that is on a 3-6 team with nearly the exact same measurables as the DOn Bosco kid. Offensive line is IMO the most telling sign of this. If you go back and look at the last ten years or so on a recruiting site, VERY RARELY are the elite OL the same as the ones that are drafted early in the NFL draft. Players develop so differently and at different ages. Joe Thomas and Jake Long (probably the two best OT in the NFL) were rated as the #18 and #21 players at OT in 2003. Here is a list of the "stars" ahead of them.

    Jorrie Adams
    Martin O'Donnell
    Ryan Poles
    Brian Daniels
    Jeff Holler
    Donovan Davis
    Aubrey McPhadden
    Eric Young
    Will Arnold
    Adam Kraus
    Steven Jones
    Trey Chandler
    Aaron Sears
    Ryan Schuler
    David Price
    Mike Jones
    Matt Welsh
    JOE THOMAS 6'7 270lbs
    Tyler Luellen
    Brandon Keith
    JAKE LONG 6'7 295lbs

Eleven of the top 15 were already over 300lbs and possibly didn't develop much after high school and were about as good then as they ever were going to be. Thomas was only 270lbs Long, 295 lbs and clearly they had room to develop size and skills and maintain their athleticism and these two did it better than everybody else. I agree with @gobluewarchild71, settle down on the stars and trust in the coaching that these guys will receive. Looking back most of us would have been far happier with Adam Kraus (#10)than Jake Long back then.

  89. Where are all of the anonymous comments coming from? I am guessing Ohio State fans, since this blog was minus much anonymity and OSU disguised leanings in the commentary prior to the Legend's first weekend at Ohio. I sense devil's advocate type tom foolery from pretend UM fans.

Ohio State may keep Dunn, and that is fine by me. The obsession over a big back is ridiculous, to me. He is not guaranteed to become anything, especially at OSU. Over the past few years, their getting Roderick Smith, Jaamal Berry, Carlos Hyde, Laamar Thomas...these guys have done nothing worth their HIGH SCHOOL rankings. In fact, I'd be scared to take any RB in the Top 10 that first chose OSU simply because those RBs have done NOTHING in college. Think: Austin White, who wavered as a UM recruit and then left in his first camp.

Brionte Dunn will not be visiting Michigan this weekend -($)

  91. jesus who cares about Brionte Dunn. Fitz has years of eligibility left, Rawls has years of eligibility left, Drake Johnson is 6'0 210lb track star. if he doesnt want to go blue then so be it.

my top 5 wish list for remaining spots doesnt even have dunn in it. We need to sure up the secondary, grab another tight end, and another OL.

trust hoke and company. you see what they can do with players that arent even theirs.

  92. Agree with the Bobcat here 100%

    Best wishes to Dunn.

  93. lol, no I'm not an OSU fan, just pointing out that his decision to not enroll early is a bad sign for his recruitment to Michigan, that said, I don't think we'll miss a beat without him, the Dee Hart flip didn't end up hurting us and I don't think Dunn staying committed to OSU will either, I agree with the people saying that we have other spots we need to fill anyway, just one more available schollie for someone who WANTS to be here imo, Hoke and Co. know what they're doing...

  94. i just heard on 97.1 sports. they said he is not going to be here this weeekend. they said meyer got him.

  95. It's also reported that Dunn will be visiting in January instead. Look at it two ways.

    1. He canceled his visit to Michigan for this weekend, good news for the buckeyes.

    2. He rescheduled for January, good news for Michigan. This lets the energy from his ohio visit wear off and lets Michigan take their final shot on him right before NSD.

Either way, best of luck. If he wants a chance at 1000+ yard season, meaning national notice and NFL scouting notice, he'll go blue. If he wants to follow his heart to 2 or 3 400-600 yard seasons leading to the CFL at best, go for it.

  96. Bummer for dunn, his loss, blue will just keep forging ahead.

  97. Let me just say, I don't know any of your real names, and thats fine. But I really hope none of you write some of the stupid articles on bleacherreport. I just feel like these are "fans" who only notice wins/losses, but don't really know anything else. Twice in the past couple days I've read that Dorial Green Beckham has interest in Michigan, and I just read that Michigan needs a QB because they only have Gardner for one year after Denard and thats it. (Gardner will have two years due to Medical RS and he didn't even mention Shane Morris)

  98. I honestly could care less about Dunn, so what if he goes to ohio, Meyer will ruin his career with that all spread crap. Don't get me wrong, I like elements of the spread and being able to execute certain plays from it, but not as the main Offense.

I want guys who want to be at U-M, not wishy-washy guys and that's what Dunn seems like to me, it's a no brainer for him to choose M from a strategic point of view, if he's too dumb to figure that out well then so be it.

I want Yuri for sure, another stand out WR, whoever that turns out to be, Garnett would be nice and maybe a TE too. Remember, as some have noted on here, our coaches are as good as it gets from so many standpoints, these player will improve throughout their M careers and become great men and better football players than when they arrive in AA. Go Blue!!!

  99. I cannot believe the NCAA has not handed out sanctions on ohio yet. I still have to believe that they will get with something. I mean the coach lied to the NCAA. What will the NCAA be thought of if they only give them a slap on the wrist. If they don't at the very least get a 2 year bowl ban and probation for 3 years then it will show that someone at ohio must have some pictures of some NCAA dude in a compromising situation.

  100. does anyone know when the sanctions come out. wounder if ncaa is holding off until after signing day. i think they will go easy on the dirty team. have no idea why but something tells me they waited this long not good?

  101. The NCAA has already punished OSU. They just don't tell anybody.
