Alex Kozan to Iowa

4* Colorado OL Alex Kozan commits to Iowa tonight over his other two finalists: Auburn and Michigan. Kozan visited Michigan on December 9th and hosted Coach Hoke for an in-home visit, so we were definitely in the hunt for him.

This was a horrible recruiting weekend for Michigan after losing out on Kozan and Armani Reeves, but we still have the Sam Grant, Willie Henry, and Jordan Diamond announcements to look forward to!

  1. We will end up with Grant and Maybe Henry then next year Shane Morris will help recruit the #1 class in the nation.

  2. The momentum we had earlier has stopped. It would have been nice to keep it going but we have a very talented class and a lot of good players returning. Garnett, Reeves, and Kozan were so indecisive that I'm okay with them not coming here. I want players that want to play here and don't need weeks to decide. I don't want a player like Garnett who has to announce where he is going in front of hundreds of people and cameras. When did college sports become so Hollywood? We will have a field full of players that going to work their asses off and want to play for the University of Michigan; the most storied program in NCAA history and I'm

  3. So you don't want guys like Jordan Diamond then?

  4. Diamond isn't going to Michigan, I can just tell by what I'm reading. Arkansas and Wisconsin are in the lead in my opinion, but I hope I'm wrong. GO BLUE!!!

  5. You think with Michigan winning the sugar bowl and having a 11 and 2 season you think we could finish off strong.... I guess that's not the case

  6. Are you sure he committed to Iowa? I can't find that anywhere.

  7. If we can pull in Grant and Diamond it would ease the pain from losing those other great players. We should be concentrating on getting the two 4 star guys from Rutgers (if at all possible). Rutgers players should be questioning there choices right now. Even Pittsburgh could be vulnerable for losing recruits due to their coach leaving.

  8. @ oldBitty

I agree with you. If we can land Grant and Diamond I think we will all feel much better. Also it wouldn't hurt to go after some top Rutgers players.

    @Honeywolve

All the experts are saying Diamond is going to Michigan. I know people say what do they know but apparently more than we thought. They all called Garnett to Stanford and Kozan to Iowa. So hopefully the experts are correct one more time.

  9. It's not okay that we're losing these trench wars. These are the fights we need to win. Yes we have a good class (we should, we're Michigan) but winning these trench wars is what gets us a great class. Anybody who says that Garnett and Kozan are no loss because they didn't want to be Michigan Men are delusional. Not every kid is this country has spent their life dreaming of a winged helmet but we still have to pull these kids in. Like it or not football is business and we need to get some of these great players who haven't always had us as their front runners. As for these kids wanting hundreds of people and cameras watching their decision, we the fans following recruiting have helped to create that beast. We have turned these kids into young celebrities. These kids have thousands of fans at multiple schools waiting with bated breath.

Yes our coaches have let us down on a couple of recruits. Yes they may have dropped the ball on some prospects that they didn't go after hard or at all. Having said that, the coaches have thrown together a solid class. The class will have some shortcomings and hopefully we can get through the next year and pick up what we missed out on this year.

Diamond and Muller are now the two best prospects left on the table and others though not as talented might be more important gets from a position of need perspective. I would love a real surprise on NSD.....a highly ranked surprise!!

Side note: I too believe that Urban Meyer is a greasy snake that I would never trust with my kid but he's kicking ass right now.....somehow. Stop bitching about the over signing until he's actually done it. Once the final numbers (actual player's on scholarship) are in.....then maybe we can bitch. tSIO may be over their 82 schollies after NSD but until the fall it just doesn't matter. What matters is how he'll get to the 82 after NSD.

  10. @blue north i've been saying none of these players are necisarly a "loss". Garnett wouldve been icing on the cake but we have PLENTY beast linemen in the class. We also have CB's, TE's, hell everything but a QB! You don't have to fill 2 deep at all positions. That's dumb IMO anyway, take a few at every position every class, minus QB. Which is close to what they have done.

With the class we have, as is, can compete with any teams. If theirs is higher it's because they have more recruits, or they just have high rated players also. Either way we have a top 10 class.

Look at lil bro, they never have top 10 classes!! I'm sure it's only a few times ever that they have. Yet they've been a top 25 team for a few years now, despite probably not even having top 25 classes. Acording do scout currently 37 with 17 commits. If I'm not mistaken, never even had a 4* QB.

We almost always have a top 20 class or better. Our 11-2 team is more talented than they get credit for. We don't need to go all crazy to fill holes that have already been addressed.

  13. jeez.... I think the loss of Grant and Reeves wouldn't be as bad if we kept Brown and standifer. We gave grant a offer then took it away to give to Brown then Brown visits Oregon and we give it back to Grant lol. I can see why Grant would choose Oklahoma. If you took an offer away from me I probably would say to late you already passed me up. I think letting Brown go was a big mistake now... probably not trying to keep standifer too now that we only have one DB. O well we are not perfect and neither are the coaches. Hopefully we can make up for it next year.

  14. Standifer was a grades issue - he would have never made it past the admissions board.
