With Virginia Tech, the two things I'm worried about is David Wilson running the football, and the deep ball throwing of Logan Thomas against a recently exposed UM secondary. But in actual fact, things don't always work out the way they should in bowl games because both teams have so long to prepare and improve ofn areas of weakness. Therefore it is hard to predict what areas Michigan will struggle/succeed in; instead I will simply say I believe they will win the game somewhere around the scoreline of 38-34.
Go Blue
Deanthony Arnett can go to Michigan or Michigan State now. I am really hoping Michigan can get him. If he goes to MSU he will walk in and be the best WR on their team from day one next football season.
ReplyDeleteWe have no idea what way he is leaning but I too would love to have him here.
ReplyDeleteOne of those holiday weekends!!!
After a holiday weekend of death and tragedy at work, my wife and I were about an hour away from me taking last night off and making the drive to NO (17 hours) for the game.....between family and financial issues we passed on the opportunity. Good news is that we are going to next years game no matter where or what game it is. We have agreed to be spontaneous a year in advance!!!
If we had gone to the game I think it would have played out something like 34-27 for the good guys.
Finish off a strong 11-2 season as we go into a very successful NSD.
Wishing all of you a very Happy New Year!!
Go Blue
I think that Arnett will come to U-M and so will Garnett, therefore, you will have a Garnett blocking for an Arnett, poetic indeed.
ReplyDeleteAs for the game tonight, If Denard is healthy, I say 34-16 M with a feeling out process early in the game and then we should pull away in the 2nd half.
If Denard is slowed by a potential tweaking of the ankle, then I see a closer game more in the lines of 24-17 M. Let's hope Denard is healthy, I like my 1st scenario way better, Geaux Blue!!!
31-24 I like our running game and am optimistic at DR not turning the ball over... GO BLUE!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping 35-28 I think the score might be higher. I think our D will hold up good. Some people claim they were exposed during the ohio game and I agree. I just think that will be corrected like every other issue they have had this season.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, and Happy New year to all my Michigan Wolverine family, I live here in the heart of SEC football, in AL. And have had to endure the trash talk for the last 5 years of SEC NC domination. I AL. I am hoping that we can pick up Arnett, and I believe that Dorsey would be a huge selection for us in the secondary. I believe the young man has seen the errors of his youth, and has made significant strides to correct them; and continue to follow his dreams to AA. Good luck tonight team # 132.
ReplyDeletessullie71.... It's now Team #133... lol lol....
ReplyDeleteI hope we get Arnett as well and if we do get Arnett there really will be no need to recruit that position in 2013.. Now back to the suger bowl I have UofM winning 28-17 and I do believe that our D will play better than anyone expected... HAIL... Go Blue.......
ReplyDeletePrediction, I am torn on this. If UM is health I believe UM wins big. If DR is not 100% it maybe close. In the end I believe the game is in the hands of DR and Will Campbell. UM wins 31-24.
ReplyDeleteReally glad that Arnett received his release. Hopefully, UM can land him. The Sugar Bowl could be close if they can slow down Denard, but I doubt they will (unless he really did tweak his ankle). I just want to see some better pass coverage, which I think will be the greatest area of improvement in this game. Go Blue!
ReplyDeleteApparently, Denard did hurt his ankle Friday but was 100% by Sunday, rumor true but severity false, per Ace Williams.....a big whew on that one.
ReplyDeleteI think our coadching staff will have these guys ready for an impressive win.
Go Blue!!!
Best of Luck BLUE TEAM #132!!!!
ReplyDeleteWin it for yourself first, especially the seniors.
You've been through an emotional & tough 4 - 5 years.
Watching the pre-game on espn right now.
M GO BLUE!!!!!!
Nice segment on David Molk and family by espn.
ReplyDeleteM GO BLUE!!!
what happened to David Molk????
ReplyDeleteDon't know but we sure need him to come back. That first series was horrible. Good thing Wilson screwed up....
ReplyDeleteThis horrible offensive play is not gonna get it done. Come on blue let's step it up.....
ReplyDeletePut Gardner in! Denard will never be able to throw. He's to small and awful arm. Denard Is meant for small schools and not the big time. Michigan looks slow out there.
ReplyDelete^^jumping off the band wagon...been waiting about 3 months to start this BS again haven't you?
ReplyDeleteMolk has a foot injury? Yet he came in on the second series. He should have been in on the first series, those two bad snaps screwed us and our momentum.
ReplyDeleteI was one of the main supporters for putting DG in but after the last few games DR has proved he deserves to start. Also DR had throwing problems because of his staph infection, which he no longer has. His arm is perfectly capable of making BCS throws, now his decision making is sometimes suspect. Hell look at the block he just threw.
ReplyDeleteHail to the Victors
What an end to the half. Go Blue
ReplyDeleteWhoever thhink dr shouldn't be playing needs to seriously stfu....I'm sick of hearing it....dg will be playing in 2 years right now its dr job...u don't take your best playmaker out of the game! Havve patience the first half was ugly but we r winnin...it looked kinda like the nd game the last 3 min....goooo blue! D saving us!
ReplyDeleteDenard will be same next year. His ceiling is maxed. UM will be better off with Gardner playing next year. Al Borgess calls a so-so game.
ReplyDeleteNo. Um has a legit Big time QB recruiting coming in 2 years. Hopefully Ty will be the running back as well. Denard is just to small and dumb and will never be a passer. RG3 he will never be.
ReplyDeleteA...Just please keep your mouth shut...you have no substantial proof to show that DR doesn't have it in him...without him UM wouldn't be in this game...ND? DR comeback, OSU/Neb...2 more won on his shoulders...Show me consistent proof and then Ill start to listen...1 half of football? seriously??? just keep quiet for the rest of the game...
ReplyDeleteI wish you could click like on a comment on here like on facebook because i would have definitely clicked like on Jared's comment.
ReplyDeleteUM better man the f... down & run the ball at these aholes. Damn what a ugly first half. I'll take it though...
ReplyDeleteFitz only has 4 rushes. They need to give him the rock more in the second half.
ReplyDeletehorrible game plan...let Fitz work a little and settle the offense down...you can see Michigan isn't used to playing against speed, especially on offense...the D has def settled down though...
ReplyDeleteDefense will have to take charge in the second half here. Frank Clark stepping up!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's not so much Denard or Fitz playing bad but the gameplay is horrible... Ten fakes in the backfield before the play starts... Just run the ball...
ReplyDeleteThey can't run thou. VT is all up in the box. If Denard could throw they would win by 4 Tds.
ReplyDeleteThis shows why we need all those linemen commits coming in plus Garnett . Struggling to block to get Fitz some running room.
ReplyDeleteWhat is with their offense tonight... We look like army out there running the triple option... lets see some power football from fitz..
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteCan someone please tell me how that VT kid got that car? Maybe the ncaa should look into that one.
ReplyDeleteIt was only $2000.
ReplyDeleteYes but how did he get the $8000 that he put into the car?
ReplyDeleteThe O-line needs to find a rhythm, then they could get the D on its heels...
ReplyDeleteNo matter what happens, Best Sign this year:
ReplyDeleteSPARTAN TEARS TASTE LIKE SUGAR
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's one thing to support DR because he's our QB it's quite another to say he's the reason we're in the game........ he's been HORRIBLE passing all year long.... even his big completions are just 50/50 balls that a receiver bails him out on. I hope the last 10 minutes he plays better but let's not lie about his non performance in the passing game as a QB all year long. And this is partly why are RB's can't run the ball they can stack the line of scrimmage. The bigger reason we're in this game is surprisingly are defense giving up 17 points per game. It's completely fair to critique DR no matter how much some of you want to jump on people that do.
ReplyDeleteWe look FLAT. Simple as that.
ReplyDeleteNo one said he's the reason we're staying in this game...he's the major reason UM made it to this bowl game...
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell Al Borgess to PASS THE BALL on FIRST down! So predictable run 1st down and pass on 3rd and long.. Mix up the play calling this is terrible!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed play calling is bad. Reminds me of the msu game.
ReplyDeleteAl lardass is so predictable with his calls. Hoke needs to fire him.
ReplyDeleteDenard is not making good decisions with the ball. Odoms was open for the first down on the last play.
ReplyDelete4:00 to go. Fck it again, let the best team win. Beamer pos.... a'hole going for it on 4 & 1...
ReplyDeleteWho would be a good candidate for a new OC ???
ReplyDeleteAnyone have suggestions. Borges has choked in a few key games for sure
A- I totally agree with you on Borges play calling right now, but don't agree with how you show it...Have some class buddy.
ReplyDeleteCountess showing lack of experience tonight. Burned repeatedly
ReplyDeleteCome onnnn D. Going to OT. Let's go blue. We played a sloppy game and still can win
ReplyDeleteVT has big advantage in OT. Mich can't move ball and given a short field VT can pound it at us and score
ReplyDeleteOvertime.... should had never come to this...
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected ......... Thank the football Gods !!!
ReplyDeleteOne play action boot would have been nice there though AL. Not feeling good about his play calling.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO..THE SUGAR BOWL CHAMPS ARE HERE!! GO FREAKIN BLUE!!!
ReplyDeletewasn't pretty but I'll sure as heck take it!! GO BLUE!!
ReplyDeletehow ironic is it that we've struggled soooo much with our kicking game the last few years and we win our first BCS game in how many years on a FG!!!
ReplyDeleteMichigan played slow and awful offensive calling and o-line. Denard is blah. The VT WR caught that ball as well. This win feels flat.
ReplyDeleteso who is game mvp...Jake Ryan??
ReplyDeleteHey A...go back to the msu or osu boards...
ReplyDeleteI love Michigan. The defensive won them this game. Offensive was awful.
ReplyDeleteGood win Blue, way to play defense!
ReplyDeleteAnyone that calls themselves a UM fan would never call this win "flat" yea it was ugly but regardless we won. End of story. Support our team and get off this blog if you feel otherwise!
ReplyDeleteThat was not a catch! The point of the ball made contact with the ground, what do you think knocked the wind out of him?
ReplyDeleteDefense was bent in all kinds of directions, but they did not break. O-Line man handled for the most part. We will take the win either way.
ReplyDeleteM GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amen bendy!
ReplyDeleteA - it was not a catch. The tip of the ball clearly hit the ground. Sometimes wins are ugly. I'll take it over a pretty loss any day. Everyone knows this team is a work in progress. Remember last year's bowl game before you criticize any win!
ReplyDeleteOn another note I loved Junior's emotion after the game!
Yayayayaya go blue!!! One of our worst offensive performances but who cares!....agreed with that spartan sign. Awsummmmm!
ReplyDelete@goblue totally agree on jr! It was awsum to hear the passion and emotion that he has!
Go blue! Pour some sugar on me lol!
Your opinion Bendy. Mine is they were flat. Mainly speaking of offense if that helps clarify. Based on expectations going into the game. We struggled to move the ball all night. Thanks to Denards ability to extend the play and Juniors ability to catch those jump balls we scored enough to stay in the game. Defense bent but didn't break Again my opinion. Not sure telling me to get off the blog is warranted there?????..........Good Talk
ReplyDelete26, that comment wasn't aimed at you... A said he thought the win felt flat. Also, what else are you talking about other than offense? Defense held tough when needed the most, even stopped a 4th and short... Special Teams? they played great, other than KO return...but ST as a whole was great, Gibbons went 3-3 including the Game Winner! You just didn't scroll up to see who he was referring to...
ReplyDeleteI agree with those that say a win is win. It's good to step back and realize this was only 5th M team
ReplyDeleteTo ever win 11 or more games and to enjoy it, regardless of how they got it done. They fought and scratched and clawed their way to a victory. We should ve proud of them and proud to be Michigan fans after what they and we have gone through the 3 previous years.
Wow can't believe all of you...VT's D is tied for us at 7th for points allowed, 6th against the run, not sure against the pass or sacks, but I'm pretty sure there top ten as well.
ReplyDeleteOur special teams looked great. Secondary was burnt, but all and all the D was solid. Despite a great, IMO, hokie D out offense put up 26 points. Another off-season to work with DR so Borges can trust him to throw it, he will improve. Better reads, better fundamentals, and he will be deadly! To say he's hit a ceiling is rediculous!! Why wouldn't he pass better as a senior?
Now we're going to start out in top 10 next year. Play the number #2, or #1 (#2 IMO) could make for a very interesting season. Straighten out secondary, tune up DR and we're on a national champ run. If we beat Bama you know it can happen!!
Go blue!!
Apologize for assuming there. I did notice and realize that after I posted. I was making comments about being flat earlier. My bad. Apologies to Bendy.
ReplyDeleteGo Blue!!!
Smokey- I am right there with you on everything you just said....I Definitely think with the offseason to shore up a few thing, if the coaches figure a way to replace Martin/VanBergen then it will be a battle of the ages with UM vs Bama! (Hopefully with another W going to UM)
ReplyDeleteFeels good to be Sugar Bowl champs. Go Blue!
ReplyDeleteDenard will not be a real goo passer EVER. He might have one or two good games but his arm will never take them for a national champ run. The defensive and running game will create that. Denard is short and cannot pass over dl. A lot his long passes are under thrown jump balls. Borgess play calling will be the other factor that will give away a game or two next year Gardner would be much better fit next year. That is just the truth. Despite the Denard slappies in here wanting to live in denial.
ReplyDeleteIt is a mark of great teams to win despite playing so poorly. Great teams FIND ways to win and tonight Team 132 found a way. Yes, it was ugly and yes DR and the entire offense seemed lost at times but JR and an opportunistic defense and special teams prevailed. A football TEAM is 3 parts: offense, defense & special teams. Great TEAMS will raise their game when 1 of those gets shut down or plays poorly. DR isn't the first quarterback to have a bad game. 2012 Sugar Bowl Champions! GO BLUE! HAIL!
ReplyDeleteBenji should set up a few moderators for this blog to get rid of trolls like the Anonymous guys a few posts back and people that post classless comments and just look to start arguments like A. If you want to make a point, make it like an adult and don't be so negative.
ReplyDelete@A,
ReplyDeleteI know you can't compare the two too much because one is a prolific passer and the other was born to run, but I believe Drew Brees is no bigger than Denard therefore you're comment on size is no factor. Denard throws just under 60%. Put up some tough points against a D we are not used too. If you ask me, blame is not on Denard. The blame is on the play caller. How many times did Al Borges run that RichRod option but instead of just one option he had two, whether it was Touissant then Odoms or whomever. Come on man, give the kid a break. Borges basically set him up for failure. I mean we run like once in the first quarter with Touissant and he almost took it to the house down the sideline. Denard will be fine next year. He will have better technique, and gain some patience behind the beasts we have next year.
Too bad Tom Brady is still playing. A QB coach would be nice.
I hate to throw so much blame on Borges because the man is outta his element with a guy like Denard, but dammit let's do something other than our three plays: QB option, HB off tackle and the Detroit Lion's favorite play, just throw it up for Megatron (in our case it's Hemingway).
Why is everyone crucifying Denard again? Did we forget that Va Tech had a month to prepare for this game and find a way to take he and Toussaint out of the game. Va Tech played fantastic because they are a very good team. Michigan is a borderline top 10 team and so is Va Tech. Michigan didn't play great and a large reason for that is Va Tech isn't too bad. Calling for Borges-head is also ridiculous. We kept trying to establish something in the running game but again Va Tech played really well. I will be the first to say that relying on Denard's throwing ability is not this teams strength. I am guessing by now that every team in America knows this as do our own coaches. Just because the plays didn't work doesn't mean the play calling was bad. I would love to have seen Toussaint and Robinson run even more, cuz either one of them could break one at any time. Players still have to execute. I doubt Hokie fans are calling for their OC's head because he kept pounding David Wilson. It was only the third time he had been held under 100 yards all year and he only averaged 3.4 yards per carry. Teams like UM and VA Tech need to stay balanced to be effective! Borges and Hoke know that abandoning the running game would have been the worst thing for us to do. We won, period. Va Tech was inspired and prepared and played a good game. We can't get greedy on how we win after the last few years. We won a BCS bowl.
ReplyDeleteoh that really helps me a lot with my own predictions and with my host pay per head wagering system, thanks my friend!
