With Penn St's new coach officially named, Michigan's focus switches to Armani Reeves, who has long been awaiting the news. If Reeves gets on well with the new head coach and his staff, then there's a decent chance he sticks with Penn St.
However if things aren't all good, Reeves will certainly take another look at Michigan, probably by taking an official visit.
So now we just need to wait until Reeves gets a chance to speak with O'Brien.
In other news, the Army All American game is on today and Michigan has five commits there, as well as one target prospect in Yuri Wright. Tune in to that, hopefully it will be more of a contest than the UA game on Thursday.
i think he will take a visit to michigan. if nothing else to be sure to compare the two. one coach with no head coaching expierence and one with a bcs win.
ReplyDeleteI think Payton is still a possibility. He seems like a prima donna WR playing games, and enjoying the attention. The recent Cal tweets makes me think that they are out. Why would he spill it before his big scheduled announcement?
ReplyDeleteBut, then again, we are really trying to predict the behavior of children we do not even know...
I like Wright over Reeves. We need some height back there...
Also, if Reeves sticks with PSU, he is too stupid to deserve to wear the winged helmet. How a top back can NOT look at Michigan and see the best of all worlds is beyond me...
I can see a top kid wanting to play in the best conference in the game: the SEC. I can see a kid wanting the warmth of LA, FL, or the special place that is Austin. But PSU over MI right now? Please. If he shows such judgment in the backfield, he should try basketball.
All 5 players are starting. That's good news to hear.
ReplyDeleteOk kinda out of the loop on the army game...been too busy to do my homework...can someone list the kids in the game and when its going to play
ReplyDeleteBlue Marrow: As you pointed out, it's about predicting what kids are gonna decide. It's not all about prestige and where a program is right now, but more how a student athlete feels at that school. Payton passed on Michigan for Cal, is Cal that awesome right now? Of course not, but it's where he feels more comfortable. Penn State is a mess, but Reeves obviously loved PSU as a place he felt comfortable. Now any recruit that goes there will be sold the same thing, "Be part of this program's rebirth." That's how Urban Meyer recruited at Florida when he first got there. Every year top athletes select "lesser" schools, it's because they are young and the most important thing to them is being comfortable where they go. Sometimes a particular school just doesn't feel right. Reeves isn't stupid if he picks PSU over UM, in fact, I'd admire him if he did, it would show a lot of character to go to that place considering what has been happening. I wish him luck wherever he chooses.
ReplyDeleteMichigan man1975: I believe the 5 players are RJS, Kyle Kalis, James Ross, Erik Magnuson and the GREAT Ondre Pipkins. As mentioned above Yuri Wright will be there as well, a big UM target. GO BLUE!
ReplyDeleteHoney, you make great points, and of course you are mostly correct. I was just being sarcastic.
ReplyDeleteElite prospects pass on the NFL factories all of the time. Some want to be close to moms kitchen, and some just bond with certain coaches and programs.
I wish the kid the best of luck, too. In the end, it's a match making process, and clearly he and MI are not a match. If they were, he would have committed a long time ago. The bottom line is that he is a second tier kid, looking at the second tier options.
As for Meyer, he stepped into a dream situation at FL. Zook and his staff recruited masterfully, and Meyer took the keys to the Ferrari, and drove away. It was not a rebuild, as much as it was an administrative tweaking. The players were already all on campus.
As for Payton, last I heard, he is "announcing" today.
Sounds pretty much like Payton is going to Cal.
ReplyDeletePayton was a lost cause weeks ago..... he can stay out west with the rest of the Pac-12
ReplyDeleteDude pipkins is killing out there, can't wait when he arrives on campis
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Pipkins is a destroyer, huge, strong and a non stop motor. Very impressive. Kalis and Magnuson are also standing out.
ReplyDeleteBanner is getting man-handled and looks very slow. Maybe it's a good thing he is looking at other schools.
ReplyDeleteRoss and RJS look good. But that dude Shaq Thompson is impressive
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletePayton committed to Cal.
ReplyDeleteYou cant blitz so I think that takes away a big part of LB play from Ross and RJS. When they are at Michigan they will be doing plenty of blitzing.
ReplyDeleteThis sucks! I live in Houston, TX and the local NBC station is not airing the game so they can show a lame as Texans special from 2 to 3p.m. I repeat this sucks!!! No warning they just did it today and I'm so pissed. Don't get me wrong Go Texans and for all my Go Blue friends in Michigan Go Lions!!!
ReplyDeleteBenji....
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean they've switched focus to Reeves? As in we wouldn't take him and Wright?
Pipkins is a BIG boy... For a High school kid he is enormous, but like some of the lineman it looks like he carries some bad weight. Give him some time in a college weight room and he will get stronger, and more endurance. Linebackers are looking good tho and Magnusson and Kalis have had some nice blocks. But that one handed catch by DGB? SICK.
ReplyDeleteBanner doesnt look all that great
ReplyDeleteBanner who ? If he is not a current UM target, who cares !
ReplyDeleteALERT, Yuri Wright's teammate ELIJAH SHUMATE just committed to ND. I don't know what this means.
ReplyDeleteIt means shumate will attend college at notre dame! Lol... Hope Yuri is not a follower....
ReplyDeleteBarry Sanders Jr is going to Stanford. I hope Josh Garnett doesn't want to block for him.
ReplyDeleteI love PEE WEE PIPKINS!!!
ReplyDeleteI only got to watch the second half so I did not get to see much. Reading some of your comments some of the UM commits played well.
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me why there was no UM hat on Jordan Paytons table? I thought UM was in his top 3. Don't get me wrong I thought for sure he would stay on the west coast but I thought for sure UM was in his top 3.
I am glad UM is know longer going after Diggs. It kind of looked like the was pouting out there in the second half.
Hopefuly UM starts getting some commits soon.
I read on ESPN jordan payton tweeted he was going to Cal
ReplyDeleteWe have 2 great WRs in our class. Hope Payton catches a ton of TDs over the next two years against Ohio.
ReplyDeleteGood day for Cal, I wonder if they will actually be able to do anything with all that talent. Tedford's been there awhile and hasn't done much since some QB named Aaron Rodgers left.
ReplyDeletePee Wee is a beast and is excited to get to U of M. Hearing the announcers talking about all the other schools that are calling him and he said he is done and committed to Michigan is great to hear.
I didn't get to see the second half but I would still take Diggs and trust Hoke to straighten him out, he looked fast out there.
If I had a wishlist '13 WR marcell ateman would be #1. 6'5 180 4.5!! Him Ty Issac, Morris. I see us having top recruiting class next year. All the '13 recruits I've heard of so far are 5*s.
ReplyDeleteWonder if Morris will be #1 overall qb this year. He was second to only Kiel in this years camps
Go Blue!
Go honalulu blue!
I bet jehu chenson has a chance to play early with all th WR change (Hemingway, stonum). 6'3 183 4.5. Could pry be 195-200 4.4, after the off season.
ReplyDeleteso my buddy just texted me and said that he saw a tweet saying Kyle Kalis is looking at possibly re-visiting OSU after hanging out with some of the commits at the UA game. If this is true, this is not good at all.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: at the Army AA game.
ReplyDeleteHe was the only one not showing a UM sign in a picture from Sam Webb. I hope this is not true. He he visits Hoke will drop him just like Brown.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Kalis has a twitted account anymore. Not after the was OSU fans slammed him.
ReplyDeleteI searched all over twitter and i could find nothing to back this up. Even if someone did say this i wouldn't believe it till i heard it from Kalis's mouth. I believe every single one of the kids that are currently verbally committed to us bleed maize and blue.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/#!/NotoriousB1G
ReplyDeleteThis is the "source." The guy has 93 followers so I have trouble believing he would get a big scoop. Also, he calls himself the "biggest speculator on Buckeye athletics." So while this rumor is possible....I'd say it's more likely a guy trying to create his own news.
Kalis has mentioned multiple times that he has no interest in THEosu, and he is faithful to Hoke and company. Buckeye fans love to create rumors, if you ever read bucknuts or any of there boards, they are constantly saying stupid things. You could probably find somebody saying Morris was leaning osu at some point or another.
ReplyDeleteDamn...lions one and done in the playoffs. Bummer. Need a shut down CB. Lol
ReplyDeleteSmokey: Millen just said if the Lions only had one more WR they would be unstoppable, LOL! Yeah, bummer is right, but it was a good season, and those young players learned a lot. Suh had a sophomore slump and hopefully Fairley can get healthy for next season. Anyway, Kalis is staying at UM, I'm not worried. GO BLUE!
ReplyDeleteQuit stirring up sh*t about Kalir & ohio. How many times is this bull crap going to be discussed. He is all blue. Drop it.
ReplyDeleteis michigans strength of schedule next year the toughest in the country?
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt it guru. All of the sec has tougher scheds than we do
ReplyDeleteOndre Pipkens is the man!! (Check out Kalis' hat!)
ReplyDeletehttp://michigan.scout.com/2/1146189.html
I think that all of michigans commits move up in the rankings after their performances in the aa games. On another note Schmitt and J. Jones did not look good at all yesterday. Both will loose their 5th star for sure.
ReplyDeleteRyan.... thanks for that feed, i appreciate it. that was the funniest clip ever. i think pipkins can and will be a leader when hes a senior.
ReplyDeletei seen him at the all american bowl and when he mad a tackle, the announcers started laughing. hes a beast.
do u guys think pipkins or bolden will move up in rankings? not that it matters or anything.
Ryan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting that. Hilarious! Guru, I agree. He's the kind of kid everyone can eventually rally around. Keeps everyone loose, but ready to bring it when the bell rings.
