Armani Reeves to visit

Cornerback, and still Penn State commit Armani Reeves will visit Michigan officially this weekend. I don't know whether he's spoke with the new head coach yet, but Michigan has a great chance now, and he's clearly the guy UM wants at corner.

If Penn State had hired a well known college coach, or even just kept Tom Bradley on the staff, I think they'd have a decent shot at keeping Reeves. Bradley was the DC for 10 years and had a good relationship with Reeves, so his resignation might be why Reeves is visiting so promptly.

  1. This is great news. I'm almost positive he will commit now. Michigan desperately needs good corners so he'd be a huge pickup.

  2. Well now I'd say this is great news for Michigan.. Armani Reeves is going to be a rwally good CB and I'd rather have him shutting down the other teams WR and not ours....

  3. Reeves first cousin is NBA HOF player Charles Barkley

  4. Following Yuri on twitter leads me to believe he is all about himself and isn't a real high character guy so this would be great.

  5. Imo I would still take yuri , just for the sake that it opens the doors to that high school . and he's not that bad of a player either .

  6. Anyone hear how Logan Tuley-Tillman's visit went? Any new updates on him?

  7. Knux..How are you positive he will be ours now? He has an official to Ohio the following weekend, and his friend carmen Williams(I believe) that Is commited to psu or is choosing between psu and osu is also visiting osu... Soooo we will see

  8. Does anyone know how tall Reeves is? I'd love to add a tall corner.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Reeves is listed between 5'9" and 5'11".

    Rivals: 5'9"
    Scout: 5'10"
    ESPN: 5'11"
    247: 5'11"

He's around 185lb. everywhere, though. He also has some really nice forty times too.

  10. Yea, although I love Countess, and Trich looks pretty good, I would love to get a 6' corner on the roster. Being able to tackle in the open field is great, but when your matched up against 6'3-6'5 WR's, a jump ball will go their way every time.

  11. Per tomvh tully-tillman is open about saying Michigan is his leader but wants to visit Alabama, Arkansas, and south Carolina first... Also... Arnett was never offered by Michigan making the decision to go to msu pretty easy. Garnett will be announcing Jan 26-27... Michigan has a "very good shot at him"...

  12. Ha tater is no longer with san jose state cause if academics lol what a douche!

  13. Kenny Crawley is a 6' CB. Isn't he supposed to visit Michigan sometime this week or next? I'm assuming he has an offer from the staff, but I'm not sure.

  14. Can't wait for this O line class to come to fruitation. Hopefully Ty Isaac will sign up to run behind them next year.

  15. I agree about the ability to cover taller, bigger, stronger wide receivers. This was really exposed against MSU, Iowa, and in the Sugar Bowl. I love Countess and believe TRich is the real deal. I just think there will be some match up issues in games against the better teams if we don't add some size at corner.

  16. If we can get a Dline and Lb that can get pressure on the QB and stop the run without having to use our Safeties we won't need super tall DB's as long as they are fast enough to blanket the other teams WR's.

  17. D-rich, the reason I think he'll switch to Michigan is because they desperately need cb's. The appeal of playing time is hard to pass up. For all I know Ohio might need corners, but it can't be worse than Michigan's need.

  18. Knux... Defiantly true my friend. But with urby at the helm at Ohio you never know what will happen. I'd like to see Crawley come aboard. HE is 6-6"2" has decent speed covers well. But projects as a safety... He is already at 170lbs fwIw. I think his size would compliment t rich well

  19. Is anyone watching the NC? Alabama has an absolutely disgusting amount of talent on the field.

    ReplyDelete
  20. yeah bama looks ridiculous right now....thats gonna be a big test next year..if we can pull off that win i see a NC

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow Bama looks like a NFL team. I Cant lie I wish we weren't playing them next year less it was in the national championship game. On the road against Bama. Then have to play ND,Nebraska and OSU away jeez thanks to whoever put this schedule together.

  22. Even though Alabama is losing their offensive coordinator and probably a dozen starters to the NFL and graduation.....it will still be a huge task to win that game. I must say though, I like Denard's playmaking ability (even though it gets Michigan in trouble) more than Jefferson's.

  23. Love my Wolverines but let’s not get delusional about September 1st. My hope is that we don’t get embarrassed.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Finally some comments that make sense. Bama has had stability at the head coaching position & recruitment trend thatn UM did under Rich Rod's regime. We can & will get there but it will take a couple of more recruiting classes & good performance on the field.

Let's hope a lot of UA players on the d-side bolt for the nfl.

  25. win or lose im excited, and happy that our team gets to play alabama. consider it a baptism by fire. they will be exposed to physical, intense play, that will no doubt resonate in the young players on defense, and the offensive line. there is no better teacher than failure. michigan will get lessons in physicality and toughness that maybe they thought were lofty dreams from coach hoke. win or lose, michigan will learn how to bring it. and our hearts will be measured. i love it. id like to expose weaknesses that can be addressed. cough!o-line.cough!

  26. Frankly, I'm tired of some of the fans acting like Alabama is impossible for Michigan to beat. Nobody needs to explain how great their backups are and stuff. No team is immune to losing, just look at the Iowa State versus Oklahoma State game. It may be the toughest game ever, but I'll still be rooting for my team to win.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jefferson looked lost in that game. He played pretty bad. I wish T-Rich would have left for the draft though. It will be a real tough task next year for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Just what I wanted, Bama win the title so that the Wolverines can beat the defending national champs in the first game of the year.
    GO BLUE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. @JimmyJazz We are all going to be rooting for them to win, but we are just looking at the reality of Alabama's team compared to Michigan. We have a lot of youth that will be getting tested. Like @Chucky Gruden said give Hoke sometime for the kids just coming in. I believe they have a chance in every game and hope for them to win, but lets be realistic.

  30. Yeah yeah I heard all this same shit last year. UM dont have the talent, yadayada. I feel asleep half way through the game...boring. All you haters just tell me this...what happens when UM's top 14 D turns into a top 5-10 d, and DR can throw?? You acualy think Bama is gonna win the NC again next year? Doubt it! Very highly!! Their QB throws like DR. Lots of people leaving. Mark my words now! Bama will not be the #1 team next year. I all but gaurantee it!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I feel the Alabama game will simply let us know where we stand overall as a program in terms of how much more rebuilding we have to do. True, Bama loses some players, but so do we. I don't think we'll get crushed, but I don't think we have the personnel yet to win. DR would have to be great for the whole game and some inexperienced guys will have to step up BIG TIME. Ultimately that game doesn't mean much, we know our real years are ahead of us. The Bama game will let us know how many years that will be. GO BLUE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Reeves add to list of Dwarf db's. Buckeyes/VT burned Floyd and Countess. The buckeyes would have won with the deep ball to Posey blew by Floyd. They need to get Yuri or find some player around 6'1- 6'3 to play at corner. Charles Woodson style. The small guys will get exposed in big games. Keep the dwarfs for rich rod.

    ReplyDelete
  33. A, DB is about talent not height. Charles Woodson was a rare talent ,so don't go there. The average NFL CB is 6ft or shorter and great athletes. Taller guys tend to be safeties. T-Rich and Reeves list of teams that offered them should tell you all you need to know. Someone else said this before trust the coaches. In year three or four our defense will look like Bama's. Deep and highly talented.

As for next years opener. Somebody said Bama's QB throws like DR. Wishful thinking but he is taller w/ a stronger more accurate arm. I think no matter who leaves and stays for Bama. They will be a tough game, but it is a game we can win. If we do it would be a great start to a NC season.

    Go Blue!!!

  34. Don't be negative about coaching staff. Remember the athletic director knew about this game so he went out to hire the best man (Brady Hoke) for the job. He knew if he kept rich-rod the program (Michigan) would get embarrass on national t.v (primetime game). I said all along this year that the hire of Brady the Mattison was the best fit for the program to improve rapidly.

  36. In the last three years Michigan has had 7 guys drafted and Alabama has had 16. That's not including this year. The disparity in talent and overall team speed is why Michigan will lose. Michigan will be there in three or four years in my opinion, but I just don't think they'll be very competitive against Alabama. Our chances are certainly improved because Alabama is losing so many players. And having rich rod out increases Michigan's chances by a quite a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would love to have another CB at 6 ft plus. But we need speed and toughness. Just something to ponder Tyrann "the Honeybadger" Mathieu is not over 6ft. But he plays with heart and toughness that our DB's do not play with. The BAMA game will truly show where we are and how far we are as a program. Its not always the size but the fight that matters!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well, I think we have a great shot at winning the Alabama game next year. I think they they have more talent at this point. I also think we have a lot more undeveloped talent.
Just look at what our defense was able to accomplish this year. We are losing a few on our D next year but our returning guys will have a year of quality coaching and experience.
I'd not be surprised if we go 12-2 next year.

Back on topic I like Reeves and hope he decides to come to AA. Nothing but good things are going to happen for this program. Our coaching staff is getting all high talent, high character recruits.

  39. Did yall whatch the army game ..yuri wright looked horrible and slow..plus have read his tweets the dude talks like a thug always saying the n word and talking about himself..armani reeves sonds like someone who will listen to a coach and play hard ,not be all about himself..I hope we get armani not yuri

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh Smokey.... I just can't seem to find any overwhelming comments that state UA will be # 1 ranked next year in the preseason poll. It more than likely will be Ls Who once again. They have all that talent coming back.

So what do you want me to say geaux tigers ?. F That. Go Blue... !

    ReplyDelete
  41. Actually, USC will probably end up being the pre-season #1

    ReplyDelete
  42. Evidently former UM DB Greg Brown has landed at University of Findlay.

    ReplyDelete
  43. You all need to cool it with all the negativity! I do agree the Alabama has more talented players, but the best TEAM will win the game. I believe bama will have more questions to answer next year. They are a play action pass type team who is losing their stud rb to the draft. Well unless the kid comes back, but I would be shocked if he did. I would also be very surprised if their d doesn't get raided by the big leagues as well. Back to the point we have won games this year against teams with more talent then us. I agree that bama will be a measuring stick for our team. We can get the question "how do we stack up" answered with a win or a loss. So I say we throw our pride and hearts on our sleeves where they belong and cheer on the blue!

    Go Blue!

  44. I wanted to record the Nick Saban interview and send it to Al Borges. They asked Saban how did you shut out this LSU offense. He said he stacked the box and was playing the WR in close coverage. Nick Saban is one of the most aggressive coaches on Defense. They said he will give up a 5 yard pass the same as a 50 yard pass. That he will play close coverage because he doesn't even want to give up a yard. The only way to beat this Def is to pass on 1st down and open up the game passing. We will not be able to run against them to start the game. Against Bama you have to open up the passing game before you can run. If you can't get the passing game going against them then their will be no running game.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah so I just watched the highlights from the game. Wow. 5fg's 1 td (rushing td at that). So besides that mamoth OL, their offense looked bad. LSU's offense was pathetic!! Their D played well holding them to FG's. Jefferson just couldn't do anything, Bama's D was tough.

Any word if TR will be back?

If he's not I don't see anything on the offensive side that I'm worried about. On the defensive side is a whole nother story.

    @bluewarchild17

what throw did their QB make that impressed you? They run the screen game. I didn't see 1 play on the highlight real, that they passed more than 15 yrds down the field. The only TD they had was a TR run.

I feel I need to make it clear IF we beat Bama we won't blow them out. It will be a tough game. If DR doesn't throw better, we will lose. But bama can't throw down field either, and I doubt they will expose our secondary, which I bet will be better next year anyway. I honestly believe our D is good enough to stop their running game. Which means we could stay in the game, and very possibly win.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Smokey, he was taking what the defense was giving him and not forcing balls over the middle like Denard does all the time. Watch the game again Bama's QB played a great game.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Not to mention he made some of his best throws THE Honey Badger with ease all game. AJ was MVP for reason of that game on offense. Game was basically over when Trent scored. Not too mention Maze was done before halftime.

    BTW BLUE WINS! JUST SAYING!

    ReplyDelete
  48. He managed the game that was dominated by defense. Managed, nothing more. MVP worthy? Trent Richardson didnt turn the ball over either and he scored a TD... I dunno.

  49. so what I read at Host pph website was correct, they said he will go to Michigan and it was true :D
