Sam Grant decommits

Tight End Sam Grant has decommitted from Boston College, paving the way for him to perhaps join Kyle Kalis at Michigan in 2012. Since Oklahoma took Taylor McNamara, I felt Boston College would be the toughest competition, so this really makes things look good.

Grant should be announcing fairly soon, as he's had in home visits this week. Michigan definitely favorites to land him now.

  1. I really think this recruiting class is going to be a perfect fit for Michigan. If Grant ends up signing, and either Diamond or Garnett or both (here's hoping) it will be exactly what the new system needs. I think Stacey decommitting does hint at what may be coming for the O-line. This class is not only filled with quality talent, but seemingly high character kids which is always good for Michigan and the future of the program. GO BLUE!!!

  2. I really feel good right now. NSD is 10 days away. With all the talk I hear I really think we could land Garnett, Diamond, and Grant. I think we will shoot for Reeves, but if he doesn't take the offer we will bank the other 2 scholarships. What does everyone else think?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I dont think they are going to bank the scholarships. I think that they have a plan in place and are going to push for the top class in the big ten... That rivalry with those inedible nuts down south goes deeper then just the game on the field, I think Hoke wants to beat them in EVERYTHING.

  7. I will also miss Joe. I have actually had an email exchange with Joe - sort of. Years ago I sent him email (overall complimentary) about refs. I was very surprised that I got a return email. It was from Jay Paterno and he said his father doesn't actual read email. Some of Joe's words were in there. What a great person!

  8. I'm thinking now we can get Grant, Garnett, Diamond, Kozan, and maybe Reeves and Darby. Getting just four of the six wold be awesome. Or maybe UM lets Dorsey in. I really do not see that happening though.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Can someone who maybe knows a little bit more than an average person does on here give me some information regarding Dorsey? Obviously he was a big recruit for us that year. From what I here he is playing at a very high level at the CC level. Is this whole Dorsey to UM even a possibility at all. Or is this just wishful thinking by a bunch of us as fans who would love to see him in the winged helmet next year. Could someone please enlighten me. This topic is driving me insane. On one hand I really want him...on the other if this isn't even a reality I would like to stop wishing that it might happen altogether. Thanks!

  10. Michigan doesn't usually take Junior College transfers. They really don't take many transfers period. I'm not exactly sure why.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Well, I would say it is just wishful thinking. Dorsey from my understanding got onto some trouble a few years back. I do believe he was involved and accused but was never convicted. Like many troubled youths he then went to an alternative /outreach program instead of finishing up at a regular high-school. The bad part about this is that the program as far as I know was not accredited at the time. So basically none of his work there mattered towards his education. So he found out after he was bound for Michigan that he had yet to even graduate from HS.
    (
Since this has happened I believe he has not been in any trouble, either got his GED or diploma and has been taking all the steps he can to get into UM.
I'm not sure if it will be enough though because he will be a sophomore next year. UM I believe does not take freshman juco transfers and if they did can he pass the entrance exam? This is just what I have formulated from articles I've read. If anything is not accurate I apologize

    ReplyDelete
  12. Alright couple things - as for Dorsey.... GRCC where he is/was playing dropped their football program a couple weeks back because of $$$ so we can only hope Michigan would accept a transfer of his caliber but I think a MAC school is a more realistic possibility in my opinion (unless he goes back to somewhere in FL....)

Second found this about Yuri Wright - http://mobile.newyork.sbnation.com/rutgers-scarlet-knights/2012/1/20/2722508/rutgers-football-recruiting-2012-rutgers-recruit-yuri-wright-expelled could very well be the reason UM cooled off of him?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I personally don't think Michigan wants to take a kid like Dorsey. If you do some research on him, he is nothing but trouble. There are pictures of him all over the internet with guns, drugs, and shady looking people surrounding him. Not the kind of kid Michigan wants to wear the winged helmet.

  14. Thanks for the info. Too bad people waste their talents like himand Yuri Wright did. I would rather not go after a guy like that. We don't need anymore Tate Forcier's or Stonumm's in our program. We need to be the standard. That's the thing I like most about what Brady Hoke seems to be doing at Michigan. High character kids....On a sidenote is anyone else besides me cheering for the 49ers because of Harbaugh. I know that I am. Love seeing one of Bo's brightest kickin some butt out there.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @maizeblue4life how could you be rooting for harbaugh? all he has done is bash michigan since bo died, have you read 3 and out? michael hart called him out and said he wasn't a michigan man. I hope the giants win.

  17. zach.bird: This is all news to me. I do like Harbaugh as a coach though. I never heard that. I just knew he called out Michigan for lowering standards just so they could win football games. Which I have no clue how true that is. What is this book all about and who wrote it? I want to check it out. Thanks for the heads up. Regardless I do like watching that team play defense. They remind me of a younger Ravens defense.

  22. The report on chip Kelly is that the bucs want him and will not move forward with the head coach search until they agree on a deal with Kelly. This should happen within 48 hours,so maybewe have a second chance with Brown?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Why chip Kelly go to the pros? His system wouldnt work..... like at all. What's next rich Rodriguez to the pros? He's building a dynasty at Oregon why would you leave when your competing for a championship every year

    ReplyDelete

    1. I would guess it has something to do with NCAA scrutiny over the Willie Lyles thing.

      Delete
    2. He won't have a dynasty until he actually has a couple championships in a short time frame. Right now he just has some very good, fast teams that are far superior to most of the Pac-12.

      Delete
  24. I will be interested to see what happens to Oregon if Chip Kelly does leave. It personally makes no sense to me why he would want to go pro, but he is building quite a program there. They are finally able to recruit with some of the big boys, if he leaves can they still do that. Will Phil Knight/Nike's money be enough to get another good coach. Very interesting development, especially so close to NSD.

  25. Reeves decommits officially. Will decide between us and the cheaters

    ReplyDelete
  26. That was a great TD catch by Manningham. Happy to see the Giants win the NFC Championship. Harbaugh is a jerk, I must say. He again showed his inability to shake the opposing coach's hand after a loss and he cut Braylon after he was finally healthy. I'll be rooting for Tom to get another ring in the SB, though.

Also, the reports are that the Bucs are close to a deal with Chip Kelly and are in the finalizing stages. That would make an interesting situation with Brown, but we may have Grant by then.

    1. I'm not sure how much bearing his friend committing to osu has on his committing to us or them. There's a number of situations where high school teammates sign with different teams. I'm sure it doesn't hurt them, but I don't think its really hurts us that much either.

  28. He said its 50/50 and that his teammate really wont effect his decision. Tremendous interviewed him and diamond

    ReplyDelete
  29. Looks like the final commits (if they all go blue) are going to be Garnett, Diamond, Reeves, and Grant. I'll take that all day. But as we seen last year with Dallas Crawford and Sammy Watkins, friends who say they're going to go to college together don't always do. Which is why I think we get Reeves.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Reeves tweeted that Shane Morris is his new bro and that he is the best qb in 2013. Sounds promising.

Garnett was also tweeting that he and Magnuson would be roommates. Again sounds really promising

  31. I love what this class is shaping up to be. UM football is looking good for run of great seasons. Both lines are going to be very good with enough playmakers on both sides of the ball to make a difference. I can't wait to see how this recruiting closes out. Go Blue!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Not only is Reeves' friend/teamate and former PSU commit now flipped to the buckeyes, but his cousin, class of 2013 CB Cam Burrows commited to OSU. I would be more surprised to see reeves go blue. I hope I'm wrong though.

  36. Reeves would be wonderful but i think we can fair well without him due to the improvement of our pass rush. with Bolden, Ross, RJS, and Pipkens coming in I think it will only improve and will make our secondary's life easier. Corners never hurt but a good pass rush will help heal a secondarys woes. But if Reeves is coming to AA will reserve a room for him.

  39. From what I have read on this blog and others, I guess it would be better for Kozan to announce for us than Diamond (assuming Garnett, which I hope is safe!) due to our need and his apparent ability to play center. Time until NSD is going way to slow.

    ReplyDelete
  40. And on a basketball side note, the Men's team has a horrifying 4-game stretch: @ Purdue, @ Ohio, vs. Indiana & @ MSU. With our road woes being what they are, the optimist in me looks at that and thinks 1-3 at best.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The BB team has been in every game so far. They could have won at IU and Ark, and did at PU. Of course they had to hold on vs Mooooo U, but they held on.

This stretch can only help them for the Big 10 & NCAA tournies.

Hope McGreary is as good as they say. We need a big man down low to score and board, which will open the outside for the 3-ball. Right now, everybody just plays D against our 3-ball. Thank God that Trey Burke is playing as good as he is. Hardaway & Smotrycz need to get out of their funk before the tournament.

  41. 1. Kelly transparently leveraged his market value, with Nike being forced to beat the open bids. Game over. Nike has their man at OR. Until next year....

    2. If it's true that it is now between UM and ou for Reeves, I hope he chooses ou. I only want young men who are all in for Michigan on the squad. Not some prima donna jack ass who is weighing playing time opportunity vs. God knows what else, in his grand decision.

Bank the scholie for next year, and take a kid who is dying to come.

    1. Reason #5412341 why it is ridiculous that anyone would accuse me of being BlueMarrow's second persona.

I think you, BM, are a crass evaluator (read: emotionally judgmental) of these young adults. For one, no school only recruits or has commitments that all grew up as die-hard fans of the program. These kids are intelligently leveraging all of their future options, and the coaches understand this despite having fan bases that include such narrow-minded please from fans.

Simply because a kid wants to wait and make the right decision, that does not make them a prima donna or a jack ass. Perhaps the mirror would be a good place for you to search your soul when commenting so crudely on high school kids.

How many of us here, who have already gone through college, and remember what it was like to make that decision, took our time? I knew where I wanted to go, and I applied and was accepted early, but there were other factors. For me, coming from a single parent family, money was an issue. I had to wait for academic scholarship offers from the schools I applied to. My dream school was Michigan, but I never applied because it was 35k a year for out of state and they didn't offer many out of state schollies at the time. I regret not applying, still, but I am happy that I want to where I did end up, which was luckily my first choice of schools applied to.

You and I and everyone on here has no idea what is factoring into any recruits decisions. For some, family (Kiel) overrides everything. For some, it's early opportunity because they want a chance to get to the pros.

Hell, I might not go to my dream school if I hated the Head Coach. If I was a Buckeye fan, I'd never want to play for Urban based on his personality. Or Tressel because of his boring offenses. Urban has always been a person who I find morally questionable in his interviews and in reading about his actions. Same with Bret Bielema if I were a Badger fan. Bielema and Meyer are not only arrogant (so is Hoke, to a point), but they are both alpha males who don't seem to respect reporters or peers that well (like Dantonio).

What has Reeves done or said to be called a prima donna or a jack ass?

      Delete
    2. You really must be a professor.

Long winded, self righteous, opinionated, and ordained with a unique ability to see only what your self-adorned blinders allow.

Reeves is a typical highly touted CB. Prima donna, jack ass, by definition. Many of the best are. Or do you think Neon Deion was not a prima donna jack ass?

My point, is that I would rather pass on Deion, and try to find a Michigan man like Charles.

Any kid who cannot yet decide between MI and UM at CB, I hope goes elsewhere.

  42. @Justin. I'm taking 2-2. I say we beat purdue and Indiana, if hardaway would start putting down 20+ a game again I'd say 3-1. He's playing very inconsistant, needs to take it to the hole more often.

I guess redfords suppose to be at purdue, he's good if he can stay healthy. Since the post is where we're small, he should be key.

I think that last game helped against Arkansas. That team played fast we haven't seen that yet, now we have. B10 teams don't play like that. They ajusted well in the 2nd half but to little to late. I hope that loss will help us in the tournament.

If we played 40 min of ball we'd be tough to beat.

Gotta love recruiting...top 10 class in bball and football!! Bout to start lighting it up!! Again!!

    Go Blue!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Reeves isn't selecting based on whichever team offers playing time. He spoke out saying that he was misquoted in that recent interview and the interviewer has since corrected the misinterpretation. I'd be very happy to welcome Reeves to Michigan. We lost one CB and have ended things with Wright, so we could really use another highly ranked CB in this class. Reeves is the last CB we're still recruiting. I think he could develop into a great CB at UM.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I would like to think none of Michigan's commits would not commit on NSD and stretch it out a bit longer.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sounds like Anthony Standifer is going to be a golden domer. The original thought was that he and Michigan parted ways due to academics and it may have very well been. But, if he is going to qualify at ND (currently taking an online Spanish course that is required for admittance at ND), why wouldn't Hoke wait on him as well? Max Preps has him as one of its top 100 players! It just got me thinking, did Hoke think that Yuri Wright was "in the bag" so it made the decision to part ways with Standifer that much easier? Has anyone heard anything on this?

  46. Another 10+ (win) season coming up. We will beat Alabama by 10 points for our season opener. Look forward to see how much D-Rob passing efficiency/accuracy has improved. Curious about WR position. Roundtree will need to step up. I dont see any team challenging us for the BIG Title. Unfortunately if Mayans predictions hold true, NC will not be played next year.

    My 2 cents:

    1. Garnet (Beast)
    2. Sam grant

  51. Michigan fans need to slow down. A 10 win season next year and a win over Alabama are highly unlikely. The next great seasons are a couple of years away, it'll take time to develop our talent we are bringing in. I don't see our offense scoring as much next year with the losses at WR. Alabama loses a lot, but they still have great athletes ready to step in and people will be surprised at how good their running game will remain. Their QB will be that much better as well, and again, I just don't see our offense getting a lot better next season. But I'm excited for the next ten years, and that's what this is all about! I have no idea what to expect next year. This year I had us at 9-3 and we all know it went 10-2 (bowl game excluded). Next year I have us pegged at 9-3 so far......pending recruits and other changes between now and labour day. I think we were good last year but ended up with a great result. so Bama's going to have 13 players step up the 1st game of the year?

We only need a handful of people to fill in, again they have 13!! They're asking a brandnew D to shut DR down, and if he can throw you're going to be asking alot! To say they have more talent, sure, but we have plenty 3, 4, and 5* recruits on the roster. Not all 4-5* recruits work out, not even for bama. Then if you have injurys on a young team....can get bad. IMO, Bama will NOT be a shut down D when we play them.

I expect all three phases being better next year. We averaged around 28 ppg, gave up around 14 ppg. Why would we go backwards? Losing junior or odoms? Darboh can step in at 6,2 200 and make a differance. Then on D we lose both DT's. With 3 DLine coaches I don't see a problem.

Exclude bama if you want but all the games on our schedule are winnable.

  67. One thing I do like is that w/ Garnett, Grant & Reeves, UM coaches are getting the last in-home visit with these recruits. Hopefully if they are on the fence it will give them that last reassurance to commit to UM. Being the last in-home visit doesn't make a commit a lock, but without a doubt it helps to have "the last word". That's the only thing that worries me about Diamond and his late visit to UW. Garnett, Grant, Reeves & Diamond/Kozan will be a great close to this class.

I agree. Most of these kids are making the biggest decision of their life to date. Some decide and want it over with. Some still just don't know and could even be scared shitless at this point. Some might just be enjoying the ride and recruiting process. I do agree though that a few rock stars or prospects who think they're rock stars play a game and wait for their moment. Yes a small percentage are attention whores but some who follow their every move or Twitter comment continue to feed their egos. Bottom line, they're kids. I'm as geeked as the rest of you to see who does and doesn't commit. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

  73. We are days away from NSD. No matter what happens with the recruits that we are targeting. I hope we get them all. According to rivals.com our last five start recruit was Will Campbell. The last time we landed two five star recruits in the same class was 2007 (Ryan Mallett & Donovan Warren). Things are looking up for Maize and Blue nation.

    1. Yes, I remember that. I am thinking that at this point, Colorado was probably one of the few big-time schools still offering him? I have nothing but speculation, but I would assume ND pulled their offer as well after all the bad press and seeing how UM had already backed off. It would've been nice for him to commit to ND and then we STILL beat them and can gloat on our higher standards.

Also, read an article 2 weeks ago about Ojemudia in the Detroit News. It/he says he may play linebacker at Michigan b/c he may be too small as a DE. (That's what I've been thinking since he announced his committment.)

  78. There was another article on Ojemudia earlier this winter, where OJemudia describes what Mattison wants his role to be at UM. I know the differences (or similarities) in the 4-3 Under scheme and a 3-4 have been discussed on this blog before so I wont get too much into that, but Ojemudia would essentially be an OLB (strongside, think Jake Ryan's role) in our base defense and then slide to weakside DE in nickel situations too keep his pass-rushing skills on the field. If Wormley is ready to play a lot of minutes as a freshman, I see Roh moving to SDE to fill the void. Then the WDE (pass-rusher) can be a combo of Jibrell Black and Frank Clark.

  79. So Garnett and Murphy to Stanford.... hope Garnett isn't going there.

    ReplyDelete
  80. The Free Press stated Reeves will decide his choice by this coming Saturday. He said Mattison never left his side at his visit and he could tell he really wants him to be part of this program and that his friend who committed to Ohio won't have an effect on his decision. I think this is legitimate considering Reeves originally committed to Penn State. I have a good feeling he will be going Blue. We'll find out soon I guess. GO BLUE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Sam Webb said he has a gut feeling Reeves and Garnett are both going Blue. He is right a lot more than he is wrong. I hope he is right again. His reason for Reeves is that Michigan has been after him way before OSU and he has a great connection with Mattison. His reason for Garnett is because Distance will not be a factor. He has talked to Garnett's dad who said he ended up staying close to home playing for Washington and pretty much said he regretted not going to Michigan to play for Bo. He said he wouldn't let distance be a factor for his son. With that information plus Sam Webb's gut feelings which are usually right I have a good feeling they are going blue. I think it helps that Reeves is tweeting about Shane Morris and Garnetts best friends with Mags and they talk all the time. Most people are saying both players are 50/50 so we will find out soon.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Me too! I feel pretty comfortable with reeves and Garnett. I also think grant will commit. The decks stacked for him at UM. Could very well play as a FR, TE isn't deep at all, very little resistance. Then the 4th to either diamond or kozan, and we have a top 3 class!!

    Go Blue!

    ReplyDelete

  88. @Jer89 They were asking him how he was gonna handle coaching and his family and he said he had a picture of his family in his office that he said reminded him of the importance of them and he said he'd call them every day and he said a bunch of stuff like how being with his family over his break from football was so great and that he saw more of his daughter's volleyball games in 7 months than he had in seven years prior to that. Anyway, Jerry DiNardo interviewed him personally and after, said what a personable guy he was and how down to earth he was and it just got me to thinking if he is really like that because even in the interview they showed he did sound like a really down to earth guy. But I've heard what a lot of people have said here on this blog about him. And I know a lot of the stuff they do in interviews is just for t.v. So it left me wondering if he is really like that. The show should come on again just check your local listings. It won't be listed as anything with his name in it. I think it might be a big ten football and beyond segment but I'm not sure. I saw it at around 11 Tuesday night if that helps

  92. David, I agree completely. He's handled the process in an exemplary manner. By all accounts, he has a good head on his shoulders, and is putting it to good use. Michigan vs Stanford? I would not want to be in his shoes. Both would be tough to turn down...

And, while I am still very hopeful he goes Blue, I am certain he will find success wherever he lands. I, too, wish him all the best.

Regarding some of the other comments:

I've happened to have both the pleasure, and displeasure of interacting personally with elite athletes from the college and professional ranks.

Let's just say that a very low percentage of them are what most people would consider well grounded human beings.

Part of it is that many are convinced their excrement is not malodorous because they have been told as much, since they soiled their first diaper.

Part of it is the simple fact that thew alpha ego goes hand in hand with athletic success.

Part of it is the additional fact that modern day athletics are really part of the entertainment industry. Actors.... Sheeesh.

To clarify a prior post: I want Michigan to recruit kids who are convinced Michigan is right for them. Not some kid who already chose penn st, and now needs more time to decide between ohio and Michigan.

It has nothing to do with emotion. My opinion is that Reeves is more like boo boo than Woodson.

If Michigan was not desperate to sign a CB, Reeves would not even be considered at this point.

But, beggars can't be choosers. (I know he's a 4 star. Rated lower than boo boo.)

I still say: Bank the schollie, and land a 5 star next year.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Blue marrow: boo boo played good as a freshman, he wasn't good after that cause of off field distractions, this kid kid won't end up in jail like boo boo is. He's a good cb, I trust mattisons eye in talent then I did with richrods staff, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Reeves is actually a very good four star. Not too mention the kid can hit for being a little guy. Excellent ball skills also. We need that. I mean we were beat up on the screen in the Sugar Bowl. Lacking speed. To have this kid step in with speed and able to lower the pads and love making contact. That is what Mattison preaches. Hit and when the man is hit and ready to fall HANDS ON THE BALL!

    BlueMarrow...
I understand what you mean by the decommit from PSU and all, but you must atleast respect his respect, or so to say. He left because he wanted to be apart of JoePa's legacy and they ditched the old man (RIP). You can't be upset for that. I know a Michigan kid is always a Michigan kid, but Reeves was very high on us when he first started this whole recruiting thing. Not every kid we sign is always ALL Michigan.

To say you like Garnett or Diamond or Grant is calling yourself a hypocrite of some sort. I mean they are waiting until the end which is different than decommiting from somewhere else, but it'snot like they have been committed this whole time. Just like Michigan needs the kids; these kids need the right school for them. There is a reason Reeves came right back to us. We have been on that mind of his the whole time. I think he is blue, otherwise he would have committed with his best friend.

Not trying for argument. Sorry if some things were offensive, didn't mean them in that way. Just my 3 cents.

    Shane P. out.

  95. Zach,

boo boo, if I'm not mistaken, was a 5 star A-A bowl kid (where he was schooled by Floyd).

He was flung into the fire by R-R, but his "off the field distractions" were present long before he became a Wolverine. His successor at CB, a WSU student, was shot and killed (I do not claim to know the circumstances, and he may have been a completely innocent bystander. If anyone else has any insight, please chime in). His successor is TR. I wish him all the best.

boo boo wasn't good because he erroneously believed he was already good. The realization of the need to improve, the wholehearted dedication to improvement, and the relentless drive to become better, separates the wheat from the chaff. It's true everywhere, except for government workers and academics.

I agree with your point about Mattison. I did not mean to insinuate that Reeves will end up in jail. My comparison was for illustrative purposes only.

Reeves will be probably be a good college CB. I hope he becomes a great CB, wherever he signs. I am only saying I would not use a scholarship on a kid who already chose to go elsewhere, and has yet to accept a Michigan offer. I also have heard some things, which are only hearsay, regarding his recruiting "process." I won't repeat them, because I was asked to not repeat them.

But, if Reeves goes all in for Michigan, he will be welcomed. My concern if that he will never be all in for Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Blue marrow,
I believe whereever reeves ends up he is going to be all in, but honestly most recruitams are not exactly all in until they arrive on campus and that's when good coaching comes into play, making him believe in the university and buy into the program and that's what Hoke has done in a year compared to rich rod where he couldn't even do that in 3 years. Plus he was a huge Michigan lean before they stopped recruiting him, I think he and countess will be our best corners .... unless trich can prove me wrong that he can make things happen with his size and if you wanted to compare anyone to boo boo it would be trich.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Fair enough, Chuck, and thanks for the qualifications. But I have heard a lot about his decision to back away from Michigan, and decide on penn state. I've also heard some disturbing things about his current recruitment.

With that being said, a guy like Garnett is a different animal. The kid is smart, talented, and has been honest and undemanding all along. He knows his value, and he knows his place. Any program would be lucky to have him. And, it's not surprising that it's down to two of the best academic/football options on the table.

As for Diamond, I've heard he's a "silent commit" since last summer. The business school tour "sealed" the deal. He was not willing to "officially" verbal because he and his family saw no reason to do so. They wanted time to explore all options, and could not begin to do so until after his HS career.

By "all in" for Michigan, I don't mean brainwashed minions who snap at the first big offer. Diamond has stated all along what his process and timeline would be. I respect that, and him.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Zach, what makes you post that Michigan stopped recruiting Reeves. I'd be interesting in the links. What I have have heard is completely opposite.

Why would Michigan stop recruiting a 4 star CB, Michigan lean?

And I disagree. The vast majority of the kids are all in, and ready to jump as high as asked on day one. It's up to the coaches to set the bar, maintain the intensity, and develop the players.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I think he meant Michigan stopped recruiting him when he committed to PSU. Tomorrow is the big day. Here is hoping for the best. No matter what these kids decide I wish them all the best.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Alright....we get the point. Enough with the obnoxious comments about Reeves. BlueMarrow, though I don't doubt that you do know more than the average fan does about what may be going on behind the scenes, you are still annoying the hell outta me. I'm sure many others would agree. Get a life, just be a fan, let the kid be...well a kid, and lets hope he goes Blue and helps the team. If he doesn't, well then good luck to him. Except on that oh so important day in late November.

Didnt know if anyone saw this. It is about Urban Meyer and the recruiting class he has been able to put together in such a short period of time (which makes you wonder if Hoke could have done a little more had he been given more than just 2 weeks when he got hired). In the first paragraph below Urban's picture that begins with "unfortanately" it talks about Diamond going Blue!

  105. Michigan got greedy and thought they had Yuri in the bag so they blew up their relationships with Wayne Morgan and Armani Reeves. Reeves had a monster senior season, his stock blew up, he got bigger and more physical. Michigan dropped Yuri because he is a thug and a dumb@ss. Then they pursued Kenneth Crawley (Colorado commit) and went back hard on Reeves.

Diamond is down to UM and Arkansas. He is announcing on Feb 3rd, the day after nat signing day. Why? Probably because he loves the attention and feels the need to have the spot light on himself and only himself. If he does go blue, lets hope he doesn't turn out to be like his sloppy high school teammate Chris Bryant and show up for spring practice at a plump 350lbs.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Try to put the shoe on the other foot for a minute. How is the Reeves situation any different than Ryan Mallett not wanting to be a part of Rich Rod's spread? Reeves committed to a very good program in Penn St and its legendary coach gets the boot plus all of the Sandusky crap happens and he is ridiculed for having a change of heart? He isn't from either Michigan or Ohio and probably never really thought too much about the rivalry. If you were offered scholarships by Bama and Auburn and had to choose one way to go does the rivalry between them make it an obvious choice in favor of one of them? I personally don't have a bias either way, because the Bama-Auburn rivalry never meant anything to me. These kids do what is best for them. Why is that a problem? Gunner Kiel on the other hand sounds like a diva. Reeves de-committed due to some pretty crazy circumstances. Give the kid a break.

    2. Well said Caleb. The end justifies the means. Whatever road they trek, if they end up at UM I am behind them 100%. We have to realize that it won't be so cut and dry for some of them as it is for others. Kalis is already beloved and he decommitted from tSIO. Reeves definitely had extenuating circumstances for his decommitment.

  107. Diamond and Garnett would be the best thing ever. If a team has an outstanding offensive line with good depth, the chances for a balanced attack goes up ten-fold. the ability to "out tough" opponents in the trenches trumps denard robinson's speed in my book any day. I love Denard, but he feeds off of broken plays. broken plays are missed assignments. lets not have missed assignments.

Michigan goes after young men that they believe can be Michigan men. Clearly, the staff now thinks Reeves is such a young man. There was a time when they were not so certain. Enough said.
