Surprise Recruit

During the liveblog, many of you asked whether UM would get a commitment out of nowhere on signing day. Well it's not quite signing day yet, but the Wolverines have a great chance of picking up a commitment from DT Willie Henry, who is on campus for an official visit.

Henry is a defensive tackle that doesn't have many good offers at all, so if Michigan offers him today, then there's a strong chance he commits. He's also a guy from Glenville HS in Ohio, which produced Frank Clark for us last year.

Henry is a three star prospect (I know, I know), so if he does get offered this late in the process then it tells us that Hoke and Mattison really see some potential in him. Trust the coaches, they've led us to a BCS in year one, I think they deserve our trust; so please don't flame about MOAR 4* STARS!!!!

Edit: Go blue, beat Ohio!

  1. Go Wolverines...Beat Ohio in Football and B-ball!!!

  2. He was offered today. I don't think he'll be able to beat out Pipkins for that spot though. Confused!¿

  3. The stars isn't really my concern. Campbell was a 5 star and Toussaint was a 3 star, so those prove nothing. But my question is why would we turn away Schutt (allegedly) yet get this kid later on...

    1. As Sam Webb said earlier, our coaching staff has three D line coaches...Trust their decision on who they want in terms of the D line until they prove otherwise

  4. Losing by 3 at the half, I can live with that. Get them cheating bastards!!

Stars are just educated guesses!! Key word guesses, enough said.

The coaches won't just waiste a scolly. There's a ton of coaching experience at that position.

I see alot of FR getting early play time. Maybe just in rotation, but alot of them after just doing training and camp will be big enough to play. I'd love to see Jermey Clark at WR, I know, I know, he'd be great to have in the secondary, but at 6'4 200+ 4.4 speed, would be out bigest, fastest receiver. I have darboh pegged as a starting WR against bama. He's good all around already, and after a quick pollish he should be great.

I'm already dying for the '12 season to start. Any news on a post season change?

    Go Blue

  5. I said a while back UM needed another D linemen. So I have no problem with this. Schutt in not as good as people think.

Any work on Grant and Reeves yet?

  6. Well Michigan in B-Ball is about a year away....But I love the fact that Michigan is a factor again...Now we need to start beating that azz!!

  7. WE NEED MORE 5 STARS. AHHHH!!!!!

Ok now that that is out of my system, I'm with Jer, I think we need another D lineman, you can never have to much depth there or on the Oline.

There is also talk about a current Rutgers Oline commit who is going to decide between Michigan and Rutgers now that Schiano has left, so there is one more possibility up front.

Also according to Sam Webb Kozan, Grant and Reeves could all be announcing today as well. So aside from Diamond in a week this could be the last big push for Michigan before NSD.

  8. TomVH updated our recruitment of OL Chris Muller earlier today. Muller says he's 50-50 between Michigan and Rutgers.

This got me thinking. If Kozan goes blue and thats a big if. Does Hoke call Diamond and Muller and say first one that calls wins. Because I can't see UM taking all 3.

And I still think Reeves is Ohio bound.

  9. Smokey, you said it stars are just guesses. Many kids are overated and many are underrated. Considering Hoke and Mattison's d-line coaching backgrounds I trust their eye for talent. They must see something in this kid to offer him. I hope Reeves, Grant, & Kozan go blue today.

  10. Here's the Latesdt on Armani Reeves from #RivalsMike: Armani Reeves and family to talk again after practice tonight, we'll see if decision comes then

  11. Every site I look has Kozan going to Iowa so do we even have a chance with this guy? Also the longer the Reeves decision goes on the worse I am feeling about it. We only have one DB in this class we really need him more than any other recruit.

  12. Let us not forget a recent 3 star who worked out well for us. His name is David Molk!

  13. Willie Henry would be welcome. like matt134 said. star means nothing. it is what they do on the field. we need him.

    1. Yeah I agree 100% stars don't matter cuz it's what ticks inside you "ala your heart".. It's either you have it or you don't..

  14. I hope this kid has the motivation and energy to be a defensive lineman who can play every single down, regardless of how many stars he has. I'd rather have a 3 star who plays his heart out than a 5 star who had a nice highlight reel but only has the conditioning to play a couple downs at a time. I think this coaching staff is great at distinguishing the 2. They went after Pipkins when he was a 3 star and treated him like he was a 5 star. Today, Pipkins is a 5 star and 14th ranked player in the nation, according to Rivals.
