All Americans!

A happy new year to all! It's that time of the year when the top recruits from around the nation gather in Florida and San Antonio to take part in the two premier All American games. At the Under Armor game, Michigan has two commits in attendance; Terry Richardson and Joe Bolden. The latter has already drawn great praise from ESPN's Tom Luginbill on twitter, and seen as Bolden only narrowly missed out on the ESPN150 in the original rankings, there's a strong possibility of him shooting up in the final rankings. In the Army All American game, Michigan has a much larger group of commits including Ondre Pipkins, Chris Wormley, Kyle Kalis, Royce Jenkins-Stone and James Ross. Yuri Wright should also be there, so hopefully the commits will recruit him during the week of practices, like Devin Gardner did with Demar Dorsey in the 2010 UA game. In other commit news, Kaleb Ringer, Jarrod Wilson are down as early enrollees.

  1. Don't forget about Joe Bolden as an EE.

  2. Dont forget about Erik Magnuson as another AAA player

  3. After reading on a couple of different sites that Wright is annoucing on Saturday I have to say the warm fuzzy feeling is gone. How in the world is ND getting all these DBs?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Did anyone else see that Cal is predicted to clean up at the AAA?? Shaq Thompson, Ellis McCarthy, Jordan Payton, etc are all expected to go there. Also, Shumate and Yuri to ND...wtf??? DAMN.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Its unbelievable to me how ND recruit in mediocre and bad seasons. They may end up with 4 of the top 5 CBs in the country (Tee Shephard, Ronald Darby, Yuri Wright, Brian Poole) after bringing in a haul on DLine last year. Imagine if they were actually good how well they would be able to recruit.

  6. @gotwins..... i thought poole was committed to Florida?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Maybe I actually need to go and check out the ND campus sometime. It must be the most magical place on earth with all these kids committing to a mediocre program.

Ok, that's enough negativity. Everything I have been reading on Twitter say Joe Bolden is one of the early stars at the UA game. Can't wait to see what this linebacking core looks like in a year or two under G.Mat.

  8. Why is everyone saying wright to nd?....you all probibly know better then me but what brought about this?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I heard he came to practice with a ND hat but said it was for outfit matching only. He said he is still looking forward to visiting in AA. And UofM is his dream school. Here's hoping we get a recruit because WE are his dream school this time.

  10. I read on 3 sites that Wright is annoucing this Saturday at the AAA game. He has not made a visit to UM yet only Clo. and ND. So that tells me its ND and he had a bad time at Col. I do not get it? But I do have faith in the coaching staff to do whats right for Michigan.

  11. @bendy:

He is, but he is originally from Indiana and both his parents really want him to go to ND. Not saying he will end up there, but there is a possibility that he flips.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I do hope I am proven wrong on Wright.

    ReplyDelete
  13. He actually said he might announce...not that he will for sure. Our guys are supposed to be going at him hard and heavy so hopefully he'll at least make his visit.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Besides even if he does decide to go elsewhere it's not like we don't have options. Reeves is definitely an option again and Kenneth Crawley is being looked at hard by the coaches especially with some of the Vols Defensive coaches leaving for Washington. He would be ripe for the picking and it would be karma for all the BS Dooley is pulling with Arnett.

  15. Brian Poole is a gator unless Muschamp leaves.

ND will continue to be a 7-8 win team until they get a legit QB in there.

Cal is expected to get these kids in their own backyard, i cant blame kids for not wanting to go to school 2000 + miles away from home.

Also, early rumbles here in Columbus say that buckeye d lineman John Simon is as good as gone for the NFL draft along with FB Zach Borren.

  16. and you can pretty much tell the Yuri ship has sailed seeing as the Kenneth Crawley kid is the exact same build and skill set.

Hope you are right on Poole, but Ive seen too many kids go to ND because their parents wanted them too.

  18. On a side note...Oregon really does have some hideous uniform combos...I really hope Wisconsin can pull this out, with State winning against Georgia earlier today...it would be really nice for our conference to finish out the bowl season with a second BCS bowl game victory. Go Blue!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yuri said today on ESPN that Michigan is still "My dream school" and indicated Michigan is on the top of his list. I think we should all relax.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Amen on the oregon jerseys...they're just jealous of our winged helmets!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I like our uniforms better, and I am in no way a Oregon fan, but I do like thier color scheam. Bummed Wisconsin lost to them. I hate we play at 8 tommorow, I'm gonna be impatiently waiting all day!! Of DR isn't rusty we're gonna light em up!! Although I am a little nervous. I haven't seen the hokies play, but every thing I've read about them suggest thier pretty good. I'm not buying into the whole "thier goin to play with motivation to prove they deserve to be there". I believe uofm has that same motivation, people complain about us being there as well.

    Blue 31-20

  22. Theres a rumor going around that DR tweaked his ankle. I hope its not true.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I haven't been on here in awhile so I'll take this opportunity to say haha to all you hater's on here saying "Michigan goin 10-2 this season you must be smoking something"!! You all know who you are. Shouldve wrote names down to officialy call you out, but I'm a smoker so I don't remember who was talking smack. Lol.

On a nother good note, seen on scout they have Morris as a 5* and Thomas @ 4*. Looks like another top 5 class next year already in the making. Like mcdonalds, I'm loving it!!

Win this bowl game we'll be in top 10 to start next year, beat bama and we top 5!! Let's go blue!!

  24. Jer89,

where did you hear this from?

They havent practiced for a couple days. It's been walk throughs for the last 3-4 days i think.

  25. When does Yuri announce. And reports are saying Denard Filed papers for draft evaluation but he says he expects to be back next season. Does anyone think Bo Dever will get good playihng time? He is a two-star receiver but with our depth that will be in 2014 he will be our 4th best receiver if Funchess doesn't switch to receiver or Gant and we don't have any 2013 receivers ready to make a start. I like Dever as a possesion reciever he has nice hands and I think he can play a good role in the offense. He is also said to be one of the best recievers in Illinois so may be underrated too. Whaddo you guys think?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hopefully Yuri Announces on jan 14 after he visits AA. GEAUX BLUE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. gallon and dileo will play before the walk on, Dever. I do think he can contribute thought and obviously the coaching staff does too.

Yuri has said he might announce at the UA All American game which doesnt bode well for UM and is a great sign for ND seeing as thats the visit he took before the UA AA game. He has said he would still take his 2 scheduled visits after the UA AA game but i dont know...... Nothing is definite yet

    ReplyDelete
  28. Geaux Blue... ? It's 01-02-12,...it's no longer Lets Go Blue.... it's geaux blue ?.... Geez, wtf would it be out if UM was playing in Glendale...

    Vamos Blue huh ?.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Chucky,
maybe he is a NOLA native?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dever could be a real nice catch, pun intended. He's 6'2" and has great hands and probably is just under rated. I know he will be coached very well in AA, so there is that.

@Jer89, I heard the Denard rumors too, something about tweaking his ankle, that he will start but not be his usual burner self. I really hope this is wrong. I look for Fitz to be a major factor for ball control anyway cause of wanting to keep our D off the field.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Heck yeah its geaux blue! When in Rome right? Well technically we'll be in nawlins but either way we're gonna own this game like we're in the big house. And if we were in AZ it'd be vamos azul! It doesn't matter what language you speak as long as people know THE university of Michigan is the best college on planet earth

    ReplyDelete
  32. @drock
I agree with you on the doesnt matter what language and the mden supports that. in the magazine there are like twelve shirts that all say go blue in different languages. its kinda awesome to see considering the reach the university has with alumni and fans. Its a great thing to check out too if you speak another language or want a nice shirt for a conversations starter

  34. Just wanted to remind everyone again, that I said it from the beginning, Joe Bolden will be the best linebacker in this class. If Bolden doesn't see the field immediately, I'd be surprised.

  35. Have two tickets to the SugarBowl tonite, Section 646, row 10 if anyone needs these...asking $50 for both. Can meet outside the Superdome. BTW, Yuri will pick us, if we are indeed his dream school. Go Blue!!!

  37. Is there any chance that Demar Dorsey could end up back at Michigan. I know he is at GRCC now but would be a huge help at CB if he was aloud to transfer to Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  38. My two cents on yesterdays bowl game.

Ticket Bowl-Penn State never got on the plane to go to the game and it showed. That whole situation at PSU is toxic. I feel bad for the upper classmen that are stuck there. I think Reeves goes blue any day now.

Gator Bowl-Both teams sucked. But OSU sucked more. Why OSU did not play like they did againist UM I will never know?

Outback Bowl- Has MSU used up there 9 lives yet. The only thing the prevent D does is prevent you from winning just ask the Bulldogs.

Capital One Bowl- Neb. is not as good as most people thought. This game was so boring even cheerleader fell asleep.LOL

The Rose Bowl- Great game. But who spikes the ball with 2 seconds remaining in the game? I guess its the the Badgers. How dumb was that. Hate to see the Badger senior go out like that. If the Ducks are not playing for a chance at the NC next year I will be surprised.

Fiesta Bowl- Another great game. Stanford needed 4 guys to cover Blackmon.

I heard the rumors about DR was on Twitter. Still hope they are not true.

I have said a couple different time that the ship has sailed on Diamond. Well I may have reacted to fast. I think UM has a real shot at him. This is a gut feeling and nothing else. But i think UM will make a stong push for him on his OV. Even if UM lands Garnett.

Prediction, I am torn on this. If UM is health I believe UM wins big. If DR is not 100% it maybe close. In the end I believe the game is in the hands of DR and Will Campbell. UM wins 31-24.

  39. Brandon - With all due respect, to you and Joe Bolden, but I'm placing my bets on James Ross. He may only be 6ft tall, but the man can hit something fierce. Let's hope they both turn out as well as we think.

    M GO BLE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. BTW, James Ross is a very good hockey player. Maybe Red Berenson should give him a look.

  41. Jeff Tinker, with regards to Demar Dorsey, I think he would do well at U of M. IMO though, I think it's the admin that do not want to let him on campus/in the school. Everyone makes mistakes and can work to correct them, but I think the admin feels that the team can survive without him. JMO.

  42. I'm curious, why UM basketball seems to be getting the shaft all of a sudden, especially compared to MSU basketball? MSU was behind UM in the rankings last week. Both teams win their games this past week, and MSU jumps up 6 spots in both polls, UM only 3 spots in both polls? Granted MSU beat Indiana, but UM beat a Minnesota team that is now 12-3. UM lost to Duke with a chance to win at the end still, and also beat #8 Memphis. Granted their early season schedule otherwise wasn't much, but they are 2-0 in the B1G, PSU wasn't BAD and Minn again 12-3 now. I know MSU beat Gonzaga and lost to UNC and Duke back to back, has been on a winning streak and beat Gonzaga and Indiana, but they haven't played anyone else. I see no reason why they should jump a team like UM, who was ranked higher before the season, and jump 6 spots when UM only goes up 3 spots. Worst part is, if UM blows out Indiana this Thursday, they won't get as much praise as MSU did.

  43. UPDATE: During this morning's press conference, Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley stated the school has decided to grant DeAnthony Arnett's transfer request.

"Derek Dooley plans to grant DeAnthony Arnett a release closer to home," Josh Ward of WNML tweeted. "Dooley said that includes Michigan & Michigan State."

Dooley must of gotten tired of being a d-bag.

  44. Has anyone else read/heard that OT Kyle DOdson may be taking an official to UM on the 21st? With Wisconsin's Paul Cryst leaving to be the head coach at Pitt (and rumors that he is taking the OL coach with him) Dodson has re-opened his recruitment. DOdson is Rivals' #20 OT (higher than Bars, Braden and Stacey).

On Yuri Wright, maybe he set to announce this weekend, because he is already sold on UM without a visit. Maybe it's wishful thinking, or maybe he has already decided and wants to take a couple of free trips. I think he announces Blue and visits AA next weekend and then does NOT take his last trip.

  45. I read that Ondre Pipkins has been absolutely unblockable for the West All-American team. Rivals has ranked each teams top performers from practice so far (includes all positions) and Pipkins is #1 over all so far for the West. Here it is from Rivals:

"Pipkins is a monster physically - he already looks like BJ Raji or Vince Wilfork. He is one of the most physically imposing defensive tackeles we have seen in awhile. At the point of attack, he is impossible to get on his heels and he penetrates quickly and athletically for a big man. Pipkins is going to be a load for the East offensive line to handle; he was simply dominanting a good group of West linemen in the early session of practice."

As for the East squad, Kyle Kalis was rated as the sixth best performer so far, behind DE Jonathan Bullard, DT Tommy Schutt, WR Stephon Diggs, OT DJ Humpries and OLB/S Elijah Shumate.

"Kalis moved to guard from his regular right tackle position and he took to it very well. He came out of his stance low and with power and was aggressive in team run drills. In one-on-ones, he engaged, locked up and rode his opponents out of the play consistently. He could play either tackle or guard in college with equal effectiveness and his ability in run and pass protection is balanced. He went against some big defensive tackles and excelled while the other interior linemen for the East squad struggled noticeably."

  46. Whatever happened to Stefon Diggs' recruitment?

    ReplyDelete
  47. @Caleb,

That Pipkins comment has me so excited. Any year we bring a new young d-lineman, especially after losing such a force like Mike Martin, it is so exciting.

Also I was watching the interview with Garnett and he seems to be owning fellas just like we are hearing Kalis.

    @Daniel Taylor,
I think his recruitment is just very low profile because more than likely he will keep everyone waiting until signing day. As much as I would like to see another top 10 recruit, I think after Chesson signing and all the talk with the Tennessee WR Arnett ttransfer talk really hurts the chances of Diggs going Blue. Although, he is good buddies with Countess and was very impressed that Countess momved to a starting spot so soon.

IMO, best possible last four would be (what we have left correct??):

    1. Garnett
    2. Wright
    3. Reeves
    4. Diamond

I know the chances for all four is slim, but these boys all want to wear the Maize n' Blue. I think it's more if they feel there is room on the team mainly concerning Diamond. I think he may be Blue but gets concerned with Garnett coming in. He may feel there is no room.

As with everyone, I am excited to see the game tonight.

FROM THE TOLEDO AREA: GO BLUE BABY! I talk with everyone around here and all I hear is moaning on why MSU should be in our spot and how we are overrated. My answer everytime: "I remember when we had 3 losses this season... Oh that's right we will only have 2 even after the SUGAR FALLS!"

    GET SOME!
    Shane P out.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Also forgot to add a question.

How would the transfer of Arnett work, saying he makes his way to AA?? Would it count for a schollie this year?? Would he be able to play this year?? Apologize if that has been answered already.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @Chuck Arnett counts against our 85, not against our 28 for 2012. Also, I think your final four is very realistic. I would bet that guys like Diamond that have told the coaching staff that they are waiting till NSD will still have a spot no matter how many OL are verballed (as long as we dont have 28 verbals). If we only have 27 verbals come NSD (including Garnett) and Diamond wants to commit Hoke will still take him. As far as Diggs, if he were further along in the process with us I think we would take him, but there is an academic concern as well. If we did grab a guy like Diggs or any other WR, what does having that 3rd Wr commit do to our sales pitch of immediate playing time for 2013 elite WR's? If the roster looks full of FR Wideouts the depth chart maybe less attractive. Would Ty Issac be considering us as highly if we had brought in Dunn? I think the staff really like that Treadwell kid and don't want to oversign the WR class this year, because with Shane Morris coming in 2013 skill players are going to want to come play with him.

    Michigan 31
    Virginia Tech 20
