Garnett to Stanford

Well that was a crazy liveblog, 4000 of you were reading at the time of his decision, which is mental. Unfortunately it was all for nothing as Garnett picked Stanford.

I think academics and distance from home were the main factors. Best of luck to him at Stanford, by all accounts Garnett is a great guy, so yeah, I hope he succeeds at Stanford.

  1. Well that was an hour and a half of time I was robbed of. I believe he made a horrible choice.

  2. Did he actually say why he chose Stanford over Michigan? Or are you just assuming?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Well that did not work out liked we hoped. Still wish him the best of luck in life.

Not really sure where we go from here? I have a little hope for Diamond, not much for reeves.

  4. I bet if Michigan was NIKE we could snag the tougher recruits. just saying

  5. If you go to the stanford rivals page, they have an article saying hes announcing tomorrow! Wth? We have 4k people on a live blog and stanford fans don't even know when he's announcing! Oh well, we need diamond bad now!

  6. just remember it all takes place on the field. we will get who want to play for michigan. the rest can go play someplace else. stars mean nothing. how they improve will tell the tale.

    1. I totally agree with you. I am always reminded of Joe Smith who played B-ball at Maryland. The year he was recruited Keith Booth was a McDonald's All-American and Joe Smith was a nobody. But the end result was Joe produced (NBA) and Keith never live up to his ranking. As I moved up from high school basketball to college some players game evovled and other were just high school legends on the bench on a college team. So I hope we will have a recruiting class full of Joe Smith's and not Keith Booth.

  7. Time to move on. Lets talk about players that are going to Michigan or want too. I am hoping we can finish the class with Diamond and Reeves. We really only need one more OL in this class. Hoke said when he started recruiting he wanted to take 5 or 6 guys on the OL. We have 5 right now so one more will be 6. We needed to get reeves and either Garnett or Diamond.... so now all are focus is on Diamond. We land him and Reeves then we have one hell of a class. Stay positive and GO BLUE.

  8. What a waste of time. At least 80% of the people that were paying attention to this are UM fans. You'd think it could have been done in a less over-the-top fashion if it was going to be Stanford, which basically disappointed almost everyone that gave a damn about the decision.

  9. Go Blue! MED School is 8 yrs, good luck Josh.

  10. Davon,
You said on the live blog that Chris Muller is staying with Rutgers. Is that true?

    1. Yes, for now. We should know more once Rutgers names a new HC.

  11. Pretty disappointing, I mean Stanford? Great school but Football is just not that important to them. I think he made a questionable choice as well, I believe that program has peaked and it will be hard pressed to maintain what they had while Luck was there, seems like Josh is a good kid and I wish him success in his future.

Now we have to move on, finish this class strong and root like hell for our beloved Wolverines, Go Blue!!!

  12. @Big_Blue we only have 4 OL recruits right now

  15. After NSD Michigan will not be a top 5 class... Maybe Diamond but def no Reeves. Bad ending to such great recruiting year

  16. Not a bad decision....just not a "football" decision. He wants to go to Stanford because of academics. Clearly if it was based on football alone he would have picked Michigan. The fact that he did not means that other factors were at play. We all have to remember that even though Michigan football is something many of "us" live and die by....this does not hold true for everyone. Good luck to him. Seems like a great kid.

Side note. We are still in the mix for OL Kozan, Diamond, and yes now Muller. Jer, he hasn't made any decision bout staying with Rutgers yet. So we know Michigan will be all over these kids. Also, the upside is that if any of these kids were thinking of going elsewhere because they thought Garnett was going Blue, they might reconsider this now. Obviously we wanted Garnett, but now we gotta move on and finish strong. I am much more confident that we will be banking scholies now than I was an hour ago. 5 spots left....NSD right around the corner. Lets see what the Hokester can pull off in the final days! Im excited and I remain optimistic.

  17. This is just a heart break, from what I gathered he seemed like a great and smart kid and football player. Best of luck to him, think he would have excelled more at UM than Stanford in terms of football. But maybe he is smart after all and knows how professional O-linemen die at an early age and have horrible knees after they retire.

    ReplyDelete
  18. why is everyone so down on Reeves all the sudden. Is there something I don't know.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. For a smart kid he's pretty damn dumb. If he's not with us he's against us

  20. From Tom VanHeeran......

With a little more than a week before his planned announcement, Chicago Simeon lineman Jordan Diamond has dropped a team from his final five.

Diamond, ranked No. 94 in the ESPNU 150, no longer is considering Ohio State. He has a final four of Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan and Wisconsin, which he will officially visit this weekend.

An announcement will come with his teammate Robert Gregory on Feb. 3, two days after signing day. Diamond, ranked 10th nationally at his position, officially visited Ohio State, Auburn, Michigan and Arkansas already, in that order. His visit to Wisconsin beginning Friday will mark the third time he has been to Madison.

  21. Maybe UM can land Grant tonight.

  22. Im not really sure why people are saying this is purely an academic decision. Stanford has been a very good team the last 2 years (would have DESTROYED us this year). David Shaw is a fine coach and is keeping the culture of tough, pro-style, run oriented football that Harbaugh ingrained in that program.

It may be easy to try to attribute Stanford and David Shaw's success to Andrew Luck, but couldnt the same be said of Brady Hoke with Denard? As fans of Michigan, of course we think the program will be just fine if not better without Denard, but Im sure Stanford people feel the same way about the program their direction is moving in. So i dont necessarily think that Michigan is just so far ahead of Stanford in terms of football that the only possible reason Garnett would choose Stanford would be for academic reasons.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Stanford has had some recent success but they are by no means a football university. If Stanford had any history of winning outside of Luck then the argument could be made. Michigan didn't all of a sudden start winning games when Denard arrived on campus. I see the point you're making, but I don't think the two can be compared in any capacity. Michigan will win significantly more games over the next four to five years, that I am rather sure of.

      Delete
    2. Whoa to say Hoke just took over a Michigan team with Denard is dumb. It's not the coach at Stanford stepped in and turned one of the worst defenses into a top 20 defense. Come on now. No comparison here. Stanford may stay good for maybe two years, but you must also realize USC has been under strict probation. Think how much that comes into affect with recruits, yet USC is still the best team in the conference. Don't get me wrong Harbaugh was a great college coach and even NFL, but Stanford is only a good college team. With Luck leaving, maybe not that but that is why you play the game.

With that said good luck to Garnett, very disappointed in his decision. I almost feel like he toyed with Michigan. You very rarely read tweets abouut him and Stanford. It was weird. But Oh well, GO BLUE! Sucks to be that young man. Have to watch the Rose Bowl from his buddy Magnuson's "family seats" in the stands. Good kid though. Too bad.

      Delete
  23. Denard Robinson is inhibiting the development of this team like it or not. his "amazing speed" is delaying the instillation of a true pro style offense. I'd take a QB who can throw over a QB who can run any day of the week, especially saturday.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Denard could have taken off when Hoke was hired, but he stayed. Denard may have not been great every game but he was a main component to us winning eleven games. We could have easily gone completely pro-style this year and won six or seven games. We'll get there eventually.

  24. @ Darin

I am counting AJ Williams as a OL. He is listed as a 4 star OL on scouts. He seems like he is going to make the switch from TE sooner or later to just the OL because of his size. We really only need one more OL in this class. If you can get two 5 star OL you take them but we didn't need 2 more. We want room to be able to get some OL in next years class because there is already a lot showing interest. We get Diamond who is a 5 star on scouts and finish what is one of the best OL class in the country.

  25. Why is everyone saying Reeves is going to OSU? Every expert says its 50-50. Some experts are not even willing to say because they said its so close. Just because we lost out on one recruit doesn't mean you have to turn into bitches. Sorry for my language but there was know other way to say it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. so....what now. whose next to announce and when? Does anyone know?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ok I am moving on. We are hearing some new names being thrown around today like Chris Muller, JJ Denamn and Dan Gibbs. I know nothing about these guys. Can someone give me some info on them? I am not giving up on Diamond and Kozan at all just looking at all the options. UM needs Kozan more then Diamond because he can play center. But UM needs both.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thats pretty funny about Stanford fans. 4000 Michigan fans were waiting on his every word, and Stanford fans thought he was announcing tomorrow. What a joke

    ReplyDelete

    1. Exactly the point of my earlier post. I don't see the need to hold a press conference to announce you're going to Stanford. Garnett may be a smart young man, but this was handled poorly.

  29. @Jer

Sounds like Gibbs will walk on. According to the experts we lose out on Kozan but we get Diamond and as far as Reeves goes all the experts are split between Michigan and OSU.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Big_Blue- We have doubts about Reeves because his teammate and close friend Camren Williams is going to Ohio State...so they have an edge.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Call me crazy but just cuz his long time friend and teammate is going to OSU means NOTHING.. Friends and teammates get split up all the time in sports so I really do see that as an issue.....

      Delete
  31. No edge. I think if anything the fact that his friend is going is the only thing standing between us and him. I think if his friend was going to somewhere like Georgia, a school he isn't consider, then Michigan would be favored largely over Ohio. I think his friend being there is the only reason he is really hanging on to the notion. Not saying he won't go to the dark side, but I don't think it will be enough to sway him to play there. That is just my opinion. Regardless, I hope he goes BLUE. FTSIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have grown up hating TSIO...and the on in South Bend too. That's what I grew up on. I realized a couple of years ago that I do not own one piece of clothing that is red. Not one. And before anyone says anything...yes this was prior to the Brady Hoke story that was similar. I have just always associated the color with the school and never liked it. I always feel like I'm being disloyal when I wear it. Like I am a fraud or I am cheating on my school lmao. Literally every time I see the logo I feel hate in my heart...grown men, kids, women, and even elderly people. It doesn't matter who is wearing it. I hate it, and a part of me immediately says "f#$% that person" as soon as I see it.

I think we can be cocky, but unfortunately we have not had a whole lot to be cocky about lately until this year. I think sometimes Michigan fans feel entitled to greatness or something. That bothers me. We are Michigan like Brady says, but that means more than just greatness on the field. Or at least it should. That is why he was the right man for the job. Really though, I hear a lot of Michigan fans talk about getting back to "Michigan Football" and competing for National Titles. Outside of 97 we really haven't been competing for NC's since the early 1900's. I am as huge a fan as there is, but lets call it what it is. We really have't been relevant nationally in a long ass time. That being said...it's about freakin time we do something about it. I think we got the right guy in there right now to make this happen. I also think that if you don't think we got a shot next year you are crazy. Alabama will be tough. I think we could beat them. Not saying we will, but if we do I really think we are gonna roll some M Efers up next year. Especially YOU little brother. Alright, I feel like I am rambling right now. Those are my thoughts on Michigan football though. LOL. You are probably sorry you asked....

    1. I agree MaizeBlue4Life
And if you ask What the Michigan brass are looking for? they want 2 things, win the Big Ten and Beat Ohio, that's it. They feel we should do that every year. So it's not even in the MO for Michigan to compete for national titles every year. But that needs to change. I think Brady Hoke see the big picture and understands the potential. But the UM Trustees and AD told Hoke they would be pleased with Big ten titles.
Truth be told Michigan graduates a high percentage of their football players, most schools aren't even close. And the Stanford over Michigan is purely a decision based on location. If you have been to Stanford you can understand why. Beach vs. Cold and snow. Academics is just as good at Michigan as it is at stanford. Check the stats.

  33. @cotts

There is no edge. Less you know something that all the experts don't then I am going to have to disagree with you. Not saying he won't go to OSU but its 50/50 according to all the experts. So people on here that are saying OSU has an edge must know something that all the experts don't know. Did Michigan have an edge for Garnett since Mags is his best friend who is commited to Michigan?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Reeves and Williams are now racing to 3k followers on twitter. Reeves just beat him to 2k but is now behind. @PTReeves8 also had a great tweet yesterday to recruits about checking academics 1st !

  37. "Football-wise, they're almost the same exact school," said Garnett of his two finalists. He was quoted saying that. I understand at 18 years old, a decision this big is difficult. Of course I wanted him at MIchigan but understand why he chose to become a little red bird instead of a Wolverine. I wish him health and academic success but his football performance is irrelevant to me. In fact, I wish him no success on the football field. Anyway, back to the original quote; Joshua, I promise I'm not being a baby but please never ever say that Michigan and Stanford are almost the same school football-wise. Get a history book out. Michigan is the winningest football program in NCAA history; Stanford is 82nd. Football-wise we are two totally different schools and suddenly I'm not so upset you're not coming here. Comparing Michigan and Stanford says a lot about your character and intelligence..

  38. Guys, we don't have to bow down and wish him luck so we don't seem bitter. The guy didn't pick Michigan and it stings, you can admit it. I'm now hearing (from Pipkins himself) that Garnett told Pipkins he would commit to UM. At least he could have told Pipkins he had changed his mind, if he was being honest in the first place. I know we won't win every recruiting battle, but that kind of crap doesn't sit well with me.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maize, Good luck with your wife and family. I hope all goes well.

Michigan lost out on prized recruit today. But, sorry to say, the kid made the choice I probably would have made.

I've spent some time in Palo Alto. It's like Harvard in paradise. Best athletic department in the country. Perennial Director's Cup contenders. And, that's what it's all about: Successfully mixing the highest academic and athletic ideals.

People that think they have peaked just because Jimmy left, and Luck is gone, have never been there. It's always amazed me that they have not been perpetually successful in football. Same with Cal. No reason exists, other than higher academic standards, to think that they can not only keep it going, but build it further. Look at OR!?!

All the best to Garnett. But, I'm glad I'm not Pipkins enemy!

    NEXT?!?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jimmy,

Sorry, but it does not sting that he chose Stanford. ohio, AL, or OR? Sure, that would sting. That would make me wonder what he could be possibly thinking.

As for the whole Pipkins thing, who knows if any of it is even true, and to what extent.

To start branding the kid as a liar, based off of post about supposed tweets is extreme, to say the least.

Everything I've heard about his recruitment is that he has been methodical, intelligent, and closed lipped.

If I had to bet, it would be that someone pretended to be Garnett, and was pulling Pipkin's chain for laughs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, except that Garnett apparently told him on his visit, as in face-to-face. So either Garnett or Pipkins is the liar, you choose. I was saying it stings because we seemed so close and not because he chose a crap university over UM. It won't sting once we land another good recruit, though.

      Delete
    2. Jimmy

      1) Stanford is far from being a crap university

      2) if this was said on Garnett's visit, that was two months ago and before his Stanford visit

      3) We will get another good recruit......maybe not Garnett good but good nonetheless

      Delete
    3. Of course, I said it's not a reason. As in Stanford is not a crap university. Hypothetically, it would sting worse if he were to choose a lesser university, such as the ones BlueMarrow listed. That was the point. I have no interest in putting down Stanford; though, I don't see them winning too many games in the coming years. I had drawn that conclusion far before Garnett decided to attend there.

    4. People... These are 17 and 18 year old kids! They do not LOVE the University of Michigan the same way you or I do. He was presented with Stanford's strengths and Michigan's strengths by their respective staffs. I doubt that Stanford lack of football success over the last 100 years matters to him at all! Recruits want to see what is happening now and going forward. Stanford has two OL that will very likely be drafted in the top 20 picks of the NFL draft this April. It is about now, not all-time. Truthfully, in recent years Stanford has been far superior to Michigan football. We are all looking through Maize and Blue colored glasses. I LOVE MICHIGAN, but these kids do what is best for them and their future. Stanford is a great school as is Michigan as are numerous schools. Garnett is the epitome of class and the high character kid Hoke wants at UM. And @JimmyJazz he very likely did tell Pipkins he is coming to UM, but because a high school senior changed his mind after visiting another school he is called a liar? If anything the fact that he had us in his top two shows that this was in fact a very difficult decision. This not only stings because he is a great player, but like I said before he seems to be a the perfect type of Michigan player too.

      Delete
  41. He's 18......he might have been talking about recent history, here and now.......don't need to insult the kid's character and intelligence. I love all things Michigan Football so don't even think of questioning my dedication but the title of winningest football program isn't one I rest my laurels on. 1) A couple of teams are closing that gap and might in our lifetime 2)for at least the last 7 decades we have not been "the winningest team" in any of those 7 decades. Michigan is a great University with a great football tradition and history. Nuff said.

  48. If Reeves goes to OSU its going to feel like a slap in the face. We started off so great to have Meyer recruit for a month and have a better class than us is hard to take. If Reeves picks us it gives us a better recruiting class in scouts than Ohio and just some positive news that we all need.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have positive news for the 2013 class, outside linebacker from good counsel really likes what michigan has to offer. Honestly for michigan to become a national powerhouse for recruiting, we need to beat notre dame, michigan state and ohio state more than any other game. Notre Dame gets good recruits for absolutely NO reason, and to kill urbans hype we need to beat him, to win recruits over from the east coast and ohio, with a couple of rose bowl wins, we could steal some recruits from usc in the future.

  50. Also, some perspective from where we came from in the last few years. If one year ago from National Signing Day, you were told that Hoke would bring in a Top 5-8 recruiting class and finish the regular season 11-2 with a BCS win, we would all be ecstatic! Michigan is building a dynasty and this is only the end of year one! We will be a stronger than ever and 2013's class and next season will only solidify our re-birth.

On the other hand is sister played a big part in his choose. either way I am very happy with the current commit and future commits. I have complete faith in the coaching staff.

  63. The Lion Ledger is reporting a new development in the recruitment of Reeves.

It seems Reeves has reported seeing an apparition of JoPa in his bedroom last night, imploring him to recommit to PSU. He is now reconsidering his reconsideration.

Urban Meyer is reportedly hopping mad, and has filed a formal complaint with the NCAA, charging an illegal in home visit by PSU. At the same time, his staff has inquired all over Columbus about the availability of high powered video projection equipment, and vans capable of housing same.

Insiders reveal anonymously, because they do not have permission to speak with the media, that in the event the NCAA sides with PSU, Coach Meyer plans on streaming Woody Hayes videos through recruits bedroom windows.

When asked for comment today at Willow Run Airport, where Coach Hoke and Coach Mattison were set to board a Domino's aircraft departing for an undisclosed location, they declined, muttering something about poaching in New Jersey.

Which mean they will get rid of some people if they get more....So kids who commit to OSU need to understand what they are dealing with. And what else do you expect from OSU? They are cheaters. They don't let me down, NCAA lets us down. This Mark Emmert thing about being harder on institutions is a joke and I better understand how this all works. USC must have not paid the right people, and To allow OSU 2 have 2 separate staffs, 1 for recruiting and 1 for coaching says it all.

  68. Do scholarship limits even matter anymore? They have like 23 commits and are targeting about 5 more. How are they able to just get whoever they want?

  69. We should over sign like everybody else, because no one else gets caught, so what's the point if following the rule if it isn't enforced?

    1. I am starting to rethink playing by the rules. Its Meyer first year and he is already cheating or at the very least playing dirty and lying to his players. Don't get me wrong Hoke will never lower himself to that level. It seems like UM is one of the only teams that plays by the rules.

      Delete
    2. OSU is not oversigning. They are technically allowed to sign 25 per class, +3 extra for 28 total. Early enrollees count toward the previous year's recruiting class, and OSU has 6 recruits enrolling early, so those 6 technically do not count towards the 28. Therefore, technically, they could sign 34 players and STILL be within NCAA and Big Ten regulations.

  70. Guys, that is the difference between us...and them. It always has been. Remember that this isn't just about the W's. Yes we want to win, and we do win, but it is important to do it the right way. We owe it to these kids. It is Hoke's job to set an example. What is that telling these kids if he decides to break the rules just because everyone else is doing it. It doesn't make it ok. You have to be able to look at this on a grander scale. Who knows maybe that is why nationally Michigan Football has been average to good outside of 97' for the better part of a century. I don't know for sure. However, I do know that we produce great young men that go on to do great things....minus Braylon Edwards debactle with the DUI's. All I am saying here is that you win, but you do it the right way. That is what I grew up on, and that is how I will raise my kids. God willing I ever have a son...Brady Hoke is the kind of coach I would want him playing for. No doubt about it. That is why e is a good recruiter, and that is why the kids he brings in will be great on and off the field. Go Blue!

    1. I think you might be a little hard on Braylon. Sure he has made some mistakes but he has also done some great things ofr the field. Just ask any of the kids he is helping financially goto college. Let alone taking the time to be a positive role model for them.

  71. Its because we have a standard and never cheat. One time ever have we been on probation for football, and it was for practicing. It seems like all the "powerhouses" over sign like bama, USC,Oregon, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  72. We need to do the same. If other schools are over singing then that's exactly what we need to do. Playing by the rules gets you know where. Look at the last 10 years we haven't had a real national championship team because teams like OSU cheat or Bama over signs. How About Oregon paying recruiters to put in a good word for their school. How about Auburn just flat out buying Cam Newton. College football is far from what it used to be. If Michigan wants to win another championship they are going to have to figure it out. I don't think you can win a national championship without cheating. Why is the sec the best conference because they cheat the most. All the long time college football fans can get mad and say what you want but college football is not what it was when you were growing up. Its 100 percent about money and nothing else.

    1. @bigblue you have lost all credibility in my book and I am embarrassed to know that you and I actually are supporting the same university. I don't care what has changed, integrity does and always will count for something. I genuinely hope you're just a frustrated fan and do not actually believe what you just wrote.

  73. I am hoping we land Kozan. I think it is pretty much down to us and Iowa. I've never been a big fan of Iowa and they always seem to have a lot of off field issues. I still think Diamond will be Blue. Does anyone know much about the QB from his high school? After these three I really do not think it matters. We have a great recruiting class with upstanding young men and great athletes. Anyone over the 23 current commits is just icing on the cake.

    ReplyDelete
  74. @Bigblue I agree with what you have said, but this is michigan we are different. We will find a way to win championships without cheating, screw teams like bama, osu, oregon, they can win and cheat while doing it cause when we win michigan a title we know we did it the right way, which to me is more pleasing then cheating.

  75. @Zach

I know I just get frustrated when people get caught cheating and nothing happens. Everyone knows Bama is over singing and yet nothing is done. Pryor got caught driving 8 different cars lol 8. Who knows how many more he had that we didn't see and yet nothing is done. I guess a kid with no job and money has no problem buying as many cars as he wants. To get in trouble with the NCAA you almost have to go out of your way.

  76. This is what is frustrating. Lets start with OSU. First they Tressels finds out some of his player are getting free stuff and trading stuff to get free tattoos. When tressels finds out about what his player did he kept his mouth shut til the media found out then he said he knew nothing about. Then we found he knew and then covered it up. When his bosses asked him about it he lied to him then when the NCAA asked him he lied again. Just to play in the Sugar Bowl. Then we found out TP was getting free cars and some player were being paid to show up for dinner. So what happened to OSU. 1 year bowl ban, loss of 9 scholarships and probation. In the end the bowl ban only hurts the seniors because OSU is a young team thats not going to be playing for a BCS bowl any way. The probation is a joke. And the loss of scholarships well they found away around that by cutting kids. So you can lie, cheat and spit in the face of the NCAA and get a slap on the wrist.

Bama the master of over signing. enough said. They are pulling scholarships from kids that VC this year.

So is it really cheating if the NCAA does not care?

  77. I am a little more worried about Jordan Diamond after hearing some news. I guess he really had a great visit to Arkansas last week. Also he is planning to announce with his high school teammate. I looked it up the only two schools that offered them both were Arkansas. Lastly, I didn't know this but his head high school football coach is an alum of Arkansas.

    1. I think he goes to Wisconsin. That's my prediction.

  79. Ok I am going to make 2 bold predictions:

Adrus peat and/or Kyle Murphy commit on NSD

    And

    Another DE in Darious Hamilton

We get Reeves as well, but Diamond goes to Wisconsin.

I know we don't need another DE but Darious is too good to pass up. I hear Stephen Diggs visited OSU...I wonder if we went after him again could we make a play and steal him away.

My reasons? I have none just off-the wall bold predictions to combat some of this bad blood that brewing on the sight to get us back to being excited about our top 10 class. I do think that Andrus peat would like to play in BIG but doesn't want to play with his brother, this is just a hunch and trust me I'm no Benji, but I think if we are going after him we can snag him. We have a big opening on the line, he fits a pro-style offense, and would do well in the current spread with his ability to move, and the success of Mike Martin is turning heads. Darious is looking for a landing spot and a place to develop his skills, he was looking at Rutgers until the coaching change. Michigan has a shot here, That would have us loaded on the d-line though. Again I'm just making bold predictions.

And for the record, we are upset over one recruit, but there are plenty of undecided players still available. And like last year Hoke will conjure up some magic and get a good solid recruit or too. I think this class goes to 26 when it's all said and done and pocket the 2 scholarships to offensive talent next year.

  80. You think were gonna get either peat, Murphy and Hamilton? I would love to see one of these guys here but its a longshot and Michigan stopped recruiting these guys awhile back

  81. Michigan is the BEST program because we play by the rules. I'd rather go 0-10 against Ohio honorably than going 10-0 against them by cheating. Michigan has standards, and I'm proud of that, GO BLUE!!!!

    1. I am also proud of the fact that Michigan does do it "the right way" and does continue to keep its standards. Our only major infractions EVER are practicing too much; I can live with that. But I don't know HoneyWolve, I don't EVER want to go 0-10 against tSIO!

  82. If I recall right, diamond said he was high on academics, yet arkasas is in his top 2? Lmfao compair UM to Stanford, but not to ark! Not even close, academic or sports!! I don't care where he goes, IMO we have enough OLinemen. Don't get me wrong I'd like to have him, but I don't feel we need him.

I'm just hoping reeves and gant commit. I somehow get the feeling that's to much to ask for. Just can't wait to see it finished, hoke will do it right.

As far as cheating, who cares??!!! Those cheating bastards got their NC stripped!! Which sucks because we were #2 that year. That was just 4-5 years ago, so to say we haven't been in the NC hunt since '97 would be false. USC got multiple NC's yanked, along with other sanction. I'm not sure if cam newtons NC got took?? Three years down the road Bama's could get stripped, you never know.

Meyer is in a tough spot. Every year he don't win, his credability will go down. The 4 tebow years did wonder for his stats. I believe he only coached one year after he left and a pathtic one it was. Plus carr handed his ass to him, and I'd bet money mattison knows alot more about Meyer and his offense, than he does mattisons D. It's going to continue to be a great rivalry, if not the greatest.

    1. I am not sure if the comment "so to say we haven't been in the NC hunt since '97 would be false." was directed at what I said the other day. Im sorry bro but it is true. I am not sure what you mean by saying they got their NC stripped. That season you are speaking of ended with Florida kicking OSU's ass all over the place in the NC game. No title was ever stipped that year. If you are refering to the epic #1 v.s. #2 game betweem us and Ohio as us being in the national title hunt that is a joke. We lost to Ohio...then they go on to the NC game and get blown out....then we go to the Rose Bowl and get walked on by USC. I hardly call that being in the NC hunt. What that means is that the Big Ten hasn't been relevant in a while and it took these things happening for the rest of the country to realize how far behind the Big Ten really was. Also, that was 6 seasons ago. Sorry bro. Need to get your facts staight.

  85. Another DT does seem odd with all of the talk of being done with D-Line. Also, I thought this was the quiet period -- or does it start Sunday?

  86. That tells me that UM will not land a couple of guys.

  87. Michigan was at Good Counsel this past week to JUST visit Dorian O'Daniel since Kendall Fuller was out of town... This seems very weird to me. I know that the coaches and Stefon Diggs had an unfortunate situation early on but I bet we gave Stefon a talking to! Maybe a surprise for NSD? What does everyone else think about this?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Geez, what is it with this Diggs glamour ? - He is not coming to UM, move on.

    ReplyDelete
  89. It's intriguing to think about. The glamour is that he is an awesome WR who could really help us from Day 1. There was an article which talked about him signing long after NSD and he still have a visit remaining about O$U this weekend. Blake Countess may be in his ear like no other as of late too.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Why are we going after a 3 star DT? I really hope this class ends strong. The more time that goes by the more worried I get. I just want to land Reeves and Diamond then I don't care who else we get.

  94. We know that Uran visited Reeves on Monday, then Mattison on Tuesday, but I guess Hoke visited him again over the weekend. So expect a decidion fairly soon. Maybe it will be today, but my guess is that we will be waiting till signing day.

  95. Just read an article on scouts saying 4 out of 5 Michigan recruits could be announcing today. I am assuming they mean everyone but Jordan Diamond. So we are on commit watch for Reeves,Grant,Kozan and I guess the new DT we are going after.
