...until the blog resumes normal service. I've got my last two exams tomorrow and Friday, so everything should be back to normal around Friday afternoon. Stay patient...
In the mean time, unfortunately I won't have time to answer questions; and unless there's a commitment (none expected), there probably won't be any posts. So for now, I'll leave you with a few encouraging bits of info:
- Apparently Wayne Morgan said or implied to someone that he won't be attending college in the Northeast, and with Michigan and Rutgers the assumed top two, all signs are pointing to the Wolverines.
- That would give UM two DB commits, and with Anthony Standifer set to visit fairly soon, he might be forced into a commitment during his trip if he wants to guarantee a place in the class.
- Rumblings around the net seem to be very optimistic about Ondre Pipkins and Michigan, despite him picking up some major offers recently, such as Ohio State. The summer visit is going to be crucial, but if were deciding today, I think Michigan would be the choice.
- Academics are still a really big issue, but Michigan has caught up with MSU in the race for Aaron Burbridge, one of the Midwest's top receivers. In fact if I were betting on it, if he qualifies, I think UM will be the pick with the way things are right now: i.e teammates on board, friends on board, Shane Morris on board!
I fear that I may not last that long...
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooooooooooooo! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm really hoping we can grab Pipkins and I hope that Burbridge can qualify because I think he's leaning Blue right now.
ReplyDeleteBenji-I believe I speak for all of us when I say you need to quit school, quit your job, and feed our insatiable desire for recruiting news and rumors full time. Do it for the fans. :o)
ReplyDeleteI hope Morgan is a lock this weekend. As for Pipkins one of the Ohio State Blogs was feeling good about getting him there. Here are a few quotes from the blog:
ReplyDelete"We need a solid, space eating DT in every class. This kid seems like he's interested in tOSU, hopefully we continue to stay after him.
Bill, What other DTs have tOSU offerred for this class?"
"Thanks Bill. Is there any real substance behind the rumor of Strobel going north to either MSU of UM?"
"Strobel to scUM? Never saw that rumor. Michigan boards think they can real in Pittman and Dunn but nothing on Strobel. I always thought ND was the other school in the hunt. Now McMullen is the one that we have a much greater chance of losing to the Huskers. Obviously everything is going to hinge on August hearings"
They are obviously about losing good recruits to us. "IF" they get nailed in August it will serve us well.
Good Luck Benji and Cheers!!
Adolphus Washington and Dwayne Stanford set to visit 2A this weekend.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing Benji good luck on your exams and we will be here waiting for posts.
ReplyDeleteSecond thing it would be nice to get a commit from one of these guys this weekend.
Third thing Don't you wish ND had the same student code as BYU does with the Mike Floyd. And I know Stonum is in the same boat but Stonum WILL miss games.
I would like to add a forth.
ReplyDeleteI am tried of Tate Forcie being tied to Michigan he is now another schools problem. And any school that takes him will not be happy with him.
Coach Hoke recruiting 6'9" man-child Zach Banner to play football and basketball at Michigan according to Det.News. Banner very much wants to play 2 sports and I think Michigan might want to let him.
ReplyDeleteA few Zach Banner quotes-
ReplyDelete"Go Blue, Go Blue — that's all I've got to say," Banner said. "I'm definitely highly considering (Michigan)."
"I guarantee that I will be taking an official visit to Michigan," he said emphatically."I want to come to a rivalry game where it is primetime football."
"Coach Hoke is straight up recruiting me and that's extraordinary when the head coach is actually recruiting you," said Banner. "Coach (Dan) Ferrigno, the assistant coach, he is also recruiting me. Also I am on the basketball list (for Michigan)."
"Coaching staff and school tradition,"-on what is most important in his college choice.
It's not good to be a OSU fan right now. It's bad enough everyone is tryin to get anything they can on you but now former player are jumping in to hurt OSU.
ReplyDeleteMichael I also read that and the thing is he mentions a lot of schools, such as USC, washington, Notre Dame, LSU, Alabama and Oregon when talking about tradition and the coaching staff. To me that shows who he is thinking most about, but this one could come down to the Irish and Michigan and we could win out. This would be a great pick up for us. along with picking up a couple more stud O-Linemen this could be a great class
ReplyDeleteLets play over or under.
ReplyDelete30 more days for coach Tressel?
I'd say over. Unless something absolutely catastrophic comes out in the big May 31 SI article, I don't think that the brass at OSU have the guts to fire him.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know who will be redshirting next year?
ReplyDeleteHoke has said (more than once so it might be a rule for him)that he'll never tell a kid "you're going to redshirt" and he'll never tell a kid "you're going to play." We might give best guesses as to who's undersized but he's going to give everyone a chance to compete for a playing spot. It'll probably play out at Fall camp.
ReplyDelete@Logan
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think so too. He's going to give everyone their visit but he keeps putting Michigan at the front of the conversation and I wonder too if the "primetime rivalry game" won't be the Michigan Notre Dame game. He'll come out for their u$c game too. Getting these kids on campus is the key. We saw what an impact it had on lifelong buckeye fan Tom Strobel.
I to think he will keep his job. For one reason only who can you get to coach with 3 month notice? Rich Rod or Urban Myer thats it.Even with the stuff that came out today I think he is safe. But OSU fans need to get ready for loss of sch., no bowl games and a long vacation for Tressel maybe the whole year.
ReplyDeleteOver, and that's the bad part (for them.) They're going to make the NCAA force their hand instead of doing the right thing. Moeller left, Hayes quit, Jalen plead guilty, but Tressel will absolutely refuse to go, and they will absolutely refuse to fire because business is good. Right or wrong isn't even in the conversation, even though it was the main focus of both of his books. :/
ReplyDeleteAgreed......they don't have the balls to let him go and their fans don't care how tainted he becomes!!
ReplyDeleteWith u$c losing its appeal to reduce or overturn all sanctions levied against them the "coaches" in Los Angeles find themselves in a bit of a bind. They have had several upperclassmen transfer and are now limited to only offering 15 scholarships for the 2012, 2013, and 2014 classes. They already have 8 verbal commits, only 7 scholarships left, serious needs to fill at several positions, and a bowl ban. the 13 seniors in the Trojans team are allowed to transfer without sitting out a year and the "coaches" can do little to replace them. I think it's time we looked at the current u$c verbal commits who hold Michigan offers.
ReplyDeleteDT Arik Armstead. Scout calls him an OT even though he was a DT in high school, Rivals calls him a SDE even though he's 6-8 280lbs. Verbally committed to u$c in early February (one of the very first to do so). Extreme longshot for him to rescind his verbal, unless the coaches are mad they'll play him as a 3 tech DT. If they now try to move him to OL look for him to have second thoughts.
ReplyDeleteOT Max Tuerk 6'5" 290. Committed just yesterday, may find himself having second thoughts soon but OL is one of the trojans bigger needs since soooooo many kids jumped ship early for the draft. Kiffin will beg borrow and steal to keep him.
ReplyDeleteWR Jordan Payton. 6'2" 200lb. Even after committing to u$c Coach Hoke and company still offered the young wideout while on the west coast. The offer was received well by the, well, receiver. He said: “We’re offering you a scholarship to the University of Michigan, Hail to the Victors.” I’m really excited about it, and I’m excited to take a trip out there in April. It’s a big offer for me because of all of the tradition they have."
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about osu is that their two "greatest" coaches will be remembered for
ReplyDelete1.punching a kid in the head
and
2.being a lying,cheating scumbag
stay classy osu
U$C did take 3 OGs and 2 OTs in the last super-class for the trojans but both OTs were 2 star kids. So Max Tuerk might find himself sitting even with a thin roster. They did take 3 solid DT's (2 were 4 star kids,) and 4 solid DE's the best playing SDE last year so Arik Armstead may very well be asked to stop rushing the passer and start wrestling blitzers as well. I wouldn't say that will disgruntle him, but you can consider him to be seriously less than gruntled in that situation. They overloaded with WR's last year even though they only took 2. 1 was a 5 star #3 overall wideout and the other was a 4 star # 13 overall wideout plus 2 RB's a FB and 2 QB's so at this point I would say Jordan Payton can reasonably expect to not play much if he keeps his commitment.
ReplyDeleteStanford and Washington not visiting this weekend.rescheduleing we need them both to come to the campus.
ReplyDeletewhere did you hear that they weren't visiting this weekend? On scout it still said they were visting.
ReplyDeleteTrying to figure out what U$C has on roster right now.....they only signed 30 players last year!!!! While I agree that we should try to get some of these U$C commits to reconsider let's not forget the OSU guys that might reconsider if OSU gets hit the way U$C did. While I'm not expecting the same penalty I hope the NCAA hands out the punishment that is consistent with what U$C got
ReplyDeleteWith how public all this has been, and these other players now coming forward and this forthcoming SI article which apparently is suppose to blow the roof off of Tressel pulling up all sorts of things (remember the writer is a Pulitzer prize winning investigative journalist, he's not messing around. This is going to go WAY beyond what USC is dealing with.
ReplyDeleteA few things:
ReplyDelete1. Wayne Morgan moved his announcement to June 2nd. There's a pic of him wearing a Michigan Football hat over on mgoblog's boards. Take that however way you wish. I can't seem to find out if Morgan is the silent commit or if there's another one out there.
2. Dwayne Stanford and Adolphus Washington won't be visiting A2 this weekend; they'll be rescheduling. This info comes from @TomVH.
3. There was an incident involving Tate Forcier hanging out of a window in a locked apartment in Grand Rapids last month. I guess it was kept hush hush. No confirmation on exactly what he was doing.
4. Se'Von Pittman's top five schools are Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, MSU, and Ohio State. Says Ohio State not best for him "as I've matured." LOL.
5. Speaking of Ohio, the SI article on them comes out 5/31, hopefully more details will leak before then. It's going to be juicy. If Tressel keeps his job, I'll eat my hat. And for the person wondering who'll replace him on 3 months notice, they'd probably install an interim coach from his staff - somebody not connected to the scandal(s), if there is anybody. Double LOL.
6. OL Joshua Garnett (6'5", 275 lbs), the 22nd ranked prospect in the nation has Michigan in his top five. He won't be committing anytime soon. Michigan is in on a bunch of big time studs on the offensive line, so I'd expect this position to fill up last in this recruiting class.
The story out of Grand Rapids on Tate Forcier is here: http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/local/grand_rapids/GRPD-report-details-Forcier-incident
ReplyDeleteThis guy needs some real help. Hope he gets it.
Forciers dad sent him to be emotionally scarred by none other than football father Marv Marinovich starting in the 3rd grade. Hope he's okay.
ReplyDeleteIs the story from SI a real report or is it rumor? I hope Tate gets help I just wish they would stop saying fromer Michgan QB when they talk about him.
ReplyDeleteBenji, you need to get back here or your fired!
ReplyDeleteHow are u going to fire a guy from his own blog.
ReplyDeleteI am a "mgorecruit" head and I need my fix. Come back Benji, already checked for updates 4 times today...lol But keep up the hard work. Go Blue!
ReplyDelete@cp
ReplyDeletelolololololol So did I. I stopped counting at 60 hours to go. :)
Benji- We've had so many new top athletes (mostly linemen) say they have Michigan in their top 5. Most of them are well out of driving distance and will have to make an official visit to get on campus. Do you have the D.L. on which top recruits are likely to visit 2A?
