Great Spot

Thanks to 'TJ' in the comments section of the last post for pointing out that Devin Funchess is now rated 81 overall on ESPN's rankings.

The ESPN recruiting staff have been meeting this week to decide who makes the ESPNU150, and I believe they went over Tight End's yesterday, so this makes sense. They'll be going through film highlights all week, and if I remember rightly, I was extremely impressed with Devin's footage,; so again, this upgrade makes sense.

With an 81 rating, Funchess is now a virtual certainty to make the 150, which is great news for him and Michigan. Hopefully other players will move up as the week continues.

The ESPNU 150 will be released on June 8th.

  1. Benji,

Where can you see the ESPN rankings? I'm looking on the ESPN sight and don't see them listed next to our commits yet.

  2. hey Benji,

How long do you think Hoke will coach Michigan? Man this is worrying me lol...Who will be our DC after Mattison, he is already 61? I know it is a stupid question but i was just thinking. OSU got soo many high profile options ...

  3. It sounded like (in his interviews) that coaching at Michigan again in a sense WAS his retirement. His daughter appealed to him to move back home, take the Michigan job, and be near his new grandkids. His wife said something along the lines of: every time you've taken a new job you moved away and left us to do the packing, now it's time to do this for us. Another thought is how unhappy he was coaching superstars who didn't really need him because he's such a natural born teacher and recruiter and the NFL had no use for his best talents. He won't likely ever take another job after Michigan. He's here doing what he loves and he's here till he's feeble. It's the same with Hoke.

  5. Mark,

Where are you finding these ratings?

  6. It's complicated, I found it by looking at the on the trail ratings on Espn recruiting then setting the year to 2011. It has mario's commitment post and says he has a rating of 80. I dont know if you can find it on a normal computer, I only check on my iPhone. Here's the link to the page http://insider.espn.go.com/college-football/recruiting/school?id=130&class=2011&page=onthetrail&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fcollege-football%2frecruiting%2fschool%3fid%3d130%26class%3d2011%26page%3donthetrail

  7. Benji,

How can OSU keep any of there current staff? Even if they knew thoughting about Tressel wrong doing. Did they not notice Pryor driving around in a 35 thousand dollar new car every 3 months. It just seems that the staff is hiding in the corner hoping nobody see them. I know it looks like I am shoving more stuff on the pile but if Rich Rod would have been fired for his oversight on practice the whole staff would have been fired with him. All I am trying to say is you can't tell me the other coaches knew nothing about what was going on weather it was the Tattoo, appeal or cars they had to know something.

  8. If I play a college football game on my ps3 and I play as Terrelle Pryor do I get free cars and tats?

  11. I am a true freshmen when it comes to recruiting is it possable that all the maybe commit that were going to commit down the road will commit early because it they wait there will not be a offer with all the OSU recruits maybe changing there minds. If you think about it if 4 to 5 guys that were OSU minded change to Michigan before the guys that are heavy Michigan leans we may not get the guys we want and need even if they are good players. I would love for all the guys that were torn between Mich. and OSU just go ahead and commit. I guess we will see.

Benji, other then Morgan who are the next 5 commits and when?

  12. lol-We have faith in Benji. He might know or have a solid guess but noone who knows wants to be "that guy" and take the moment away from a kid. He might not answer unless you rephrase the question.

  13. Who would be your best quess?

  14. yeah Michael is right, I'll usually word things like, "Recruit X will probably choose Michigan" or "is likely to choose Michigan".

I try to avoid saying what will actually happen, because then I'll get disowned by the Michigan family of bloggers...

e.g - you guys probably don't like the Dayton Daily anymore?

  15. I am just asking for best guess not for you to turn into Dayton Daily you are way better then that. Just some things to look forward to.
