So yesterday I saw that MGoBlog's TomVH tweeted that June will be a very good month for Michigan recruiting, so I thought I'd do a preview of what could/will happen in June.
- The first event will obviously be Wayne Morgan's announcement on June 2nd. Everyone is expecting Wayne to go blue, and I haven't heard anything to suggest that won't be the case.
- Allen Gant may also be deciding in June, and he's currently favoring Michigan. Gant is looking to visit sometime this month, and if he does, an on the spot commitment would not surprise me.
- With possible commitments from Morgan and Gant, plus TR already in the fold, the timetable of recruits such as Anthony Standifer and Armani Reeves will be greatly accelerated. I believe they'll just take the first one to commit, and probably turn away the other. Taking five DBs is too many in my opinion. If I was betting on it, I'd say Standifer is more likely.
- Chris Wormley is another guy who could also be deciding in June. He's going to really focus on his recruitment after his track season ends, which I think is in June - not 100% sure on that. Chris recently confirmed most people's beliefs that Michigan is his leader, so UM could land another DE.
So anyway, that's a brief look at some possible commitments in June, there are probably other targets that will announce during the month too, maybe Gunner Kiel? Sidenote: Less confident about our chances will Kiel than I was last week, I think Alabama are right up there for him now. At least he should be visiting Michigan sometime soon.
Do you think 'bama is still high on Jameis Winston or is he more likely to go to Miami/Florida or LSU. Obviously that'd be big for Keil. After Cam Newton I would've figured Winston ideal at Aubrun until Pike dropped for them.
ReplyDeleteI think Kiel saw all he wants to see of Morris at the camp. I think alabama is gaining steam but we will see what Hoke and the coaches have to maybe sway the young man back to the wolverines.
ReplyDeleteGet him on campus to really see where he stands of course. I won't feel as good as TomVH about this class until we get some DT's. Whoever we pull in this class will need to take some starting reps in 2013 unless our current DE's put on 30+ lbs. Maize n Brew took my 2012 depth concerns to a whole new level today.
ReplyDeleteKeith Marshall tweet...
ReplyDelete@Truthh4 Keith Marshall
when I was in elementary school I always wanted to go to Michigan because of their helmets !
Perhaps...something to think about in the future? Longshot, but there appears to be a small window of opportunity.
Go Blue!!!
Tom Beaver said he would not be surprised if Michigan received an official visit from Marshall.
ReplyDeleteDude, we need some DT's and some OFFENSIVE LINEMEN. My god, if we don't get some O-linemen, we are screwed.
ReplyDeleteWe are in a great position for a lot of talented linemen. We may be getting a few of them to pull the trigger this upcoming month.
ReplyDeleteWe've got some OLine depth for next year if we need it. Coaches say that Michael Schoefield could start at RT already and Rocko Khoury can come in at Center if needed. We picked up 3 solid kids in last years class too. Chris Bryant was a 4 star Rivals 250 Guard at 330 lbs, Tony Posada is another 315 lb. Guard who can play in a pinch and Gary Yerden is bigger than almost every NFL tackle already and is a record setting power lifter. They may not have the technique to start right away but could very well start as in 2012.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the weekly update from @TomVH. It deals specifically with offensive linemen. There are a ton of visits lined up for the month of June. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride as we stomp MSU, OSU and the rest of the Big Ten on the recruiting trail.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, UM has like 26 offers out to OL right now, and is in the top 5 of many of them. So no sweat my pet.
ReplyDeleteTressel is out at OSU!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou weren't kidding, he quit. Saint Tressel does the "noble" thing while we can still say his name without spitting.
ReplyDeleteyes, recruiting is going to be good
ReplyDeleteTressel resigns
ReplyDeleteDunn?
ReplyDeleteLets not get ahead of ourself on this. Is it good news on the recruiting front yes. Does this mean they roll over for the season NO they are still a very good team and will be playing with a purpose this year. We can feel good for alittle while but there is still alot of work to be done. And get focused on the games ahead and we can party at the end of the season with a victory over OSU. Go Blue
ReplyDeleteAnd go get every recruit you can!
