Mario Ojemudia commits!

Ahh the trouble of being 5 hrs ahead of Eastern Time...I was sleeping!

Still, this is probably worth waking up for, DE Mario Ojemudia has committed to Michigan, becoming the 9th member of the 2012 class. This is a really nice pickup for Michigan as Ojemudia is very talented, and was originally believed to be an MSU lean. It will also help Michigan's cause with WR Aaron Burbridge.

I did this before and it turned out to be correct, so...

Interesting but pointless facts: (DON'T TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY)

1) So far all of UM's commits have come from Ohio or Michigan. The number of commits from one state has never exceeded the other by more than one. It's currently Ohio 4, Michigan 5. So for this pattern to hold, the next commit must be from Ohio.

2) So far all of UM's commits have come in pairs, sorted by position. Firstly they had 2 OL commits, then 2 LB commits, then 2 TE commits, then two LBs. We've just had a DE commit, so for the pattern to hold, the next commit must be a DE too.

So...if we consider both of these together, Chris Wormley or Pharaoh Brown is the next commit? :P

  1. I'm so glad you mentioned the pattern again... come on Wormley, this is the start of something special.

What an exciting time to be a Michigan fan.

  7. Not trying to be negative at all, I think Brown and Godin (silent commit announcing the 12th) have chances to be pretty good, but with limited DE and DT scholarships we are probably going to miss out on Day or Wormley or a premier guy with higher stars. Am I the only one who thinks we need to start being more selective in who we are taking? We are already half done with scholarships now..

  8. No way does Hoke turn away Chris Wormley...or Sheldon Day for that matter. We'll still take 2 DTs in this class, and you just don't pass up on talent like Day or Wormley.

  9. I think Hoke is sending a clear message to all high school kids. If you want to come to Michigan you need to commit early because we will not wait on you. I still think he will save room for them two (Day and Wormley).

  10. Day, Wormley, Pipkins, Johnson, O'Brien... we can only take probably 2 of those after brown/omejudia/godin... right? I wish we were more selective in a sense. I know these kids all have talents and stars don't mean too much but we may miss on a couple 4 stars for some 3 stars because we are trying to get commits early? Pipkins has us as a leader, and O'Brien is a home state kid who may love our class. Royce already is putting on twitter we are going to have the best class in 2012. I just wish we held out for the top talent and trusted we could get them rather than taking a couple of 3 stars and hoping they blossom.

  11. I really don't feel good about our chances with O'Brien. But yeah we'll likely have to say no to maybe Pipkins or Johnson at DT? But hey, whilst Pharaoh Brown is only a three star guy, there is a lot of optimism around his recruitment. He's a really good player and he hasn't even fully developed yet, once he puts on 35lbs he'll be a beast.

  12. This is not Brady's first rodeo, nor is it Mattison's, they know exactly what they are doing in building this class. By piling on midwest recruits they are not only bringing in talented young men, they are returning to the principles on which Michigan Football built its legacy. We are not the only people who pay attention to recruiting, high school players all over the nation will see this class and hopefully start becoming what they think a Michigan Man is and should be. My optimism and enthusiasm are clearly fueled by a deep love for the U of M but at the same time, the facts speak for themselves. To look for negatives in this situation is crazy.

    GO BLUE!

  13. If Pipkins, Johnson, Day and Wormley want to play at Michigan they need to hurry up.

  14. Who ever the next OSU coach is they need to take notice Hoke is coming for your best players.

  15. Sheldon Day is a DT not a DE. We need depth on the line as a whole. If Wormley wants to come Hoke will take him. As far as selective, these guys are 4*. Hoke will not wait for anybody. I love that philosophy.

  16. I'm not trying to be negative at all, I definitely think we have a top 10 class and getting all midwest guys can only help for future recruiting classes. I just was curious why we are letting some less heralded recruits in over some bigger names. Do you think we will be more choosey as we go on next year and so on? Also, noticed shane morris tweeting back and forth with 3 or 4 of the '12 michigan commits. I really like our chances with him. Do we have any news on burbridge?

  17. Brain there is no way to tell if we would get those guys so take the ones who want to be here. Mattison can work with them.

  18. Well we know Burbridge enjoyed the visit, and seeing both his teammates committed to Michigan will certainly get him thinking about joining the good guys.

I'm not sure if Hoke will get too picky. But he'll definitely wait on guys like Wormley, Diamond and Day, no matter who commits before them.

  19. All the kids we're getting seem talented and are reporting good gpas. So we are doing the right thing. I don't understand how you can say I know the stars don't mean anything but why don't we pass on threes so we can get fours. They don't matter so we should take big smart kids that can be taught to play football the Michigan way. We're beating the pants off the entire big ten in recruiting, and we're going to do it for the next 10 years. GO BLUE

  20. Richard I am with you some what on the talent level. But you need to keep in mind if you make a offer to a kid you need to be ready to take the commit.
