QB Visitor

Three star QB Chad Kelly (Buffalo, NY) was on campus in Ann Arbor today, following his visit for MSU's spring game on Saturday, and I believe a visit to Purdue on Sunday? Chad is the nephew of NFL hall of fame QB Jim Kelly, who led Chad's hometown Bills to four Superbowls!

Chad doesn't yet have a Michigan offer, and I don't think he got one during his visit either. He does however have offers from the likes of MSU, Purdue, Alabama, Florida State and Clemson; so there's a high chance he will get a UM offer eventually.

Unfortunately he doesn't sound overly interested in Michigan, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

  2. Since this is supposed to be a small class, I feel that if we can't land Zeke or Gunner, we should just not worry about the position. If neither of those two, then just go after 2013 QB Shane Morris hard as hell! That is my though process because Denard and Devin are still young-ish and then Bellamy seems to be no slouch either.

  3. I'm with Ryan. Shane Morris looks really good, and if Devin gets his redshirt, we have a great QB for the next 3-4 years

It's amazing how talent can be spotted an promoted now the Internet is awesome.

Anyway. I think taking a risk on a 3/4* QB isn't a bad idea this year. I would think it would have to be a kid with the extras though. The work effort, leadership qualities, accademics. Someone that will be a leader even if he doesn't pan out, yet has the potential to be a surprise.

Drew Henson was suppose to beat out Brady. No knock on Drew. Brady had the extras. His competitiveness and work ethic

I could be wrong, help me out, wasn't Hoke one of the coaches that pulled Brady in?

  6. Hoke was the one who recruited Brady to Michigan. He had an eye for talent even back then. LOL

  8. Jennifer, I know that you want to take a QB every year but we just have a small class and limited spaces so I would rather fill the spot with another OL, DL, or DB rather than offer just a random QB. And, people like Tom Brady are a 'once in a blue moon' find.

  9. Ryan,
I agree. I don't think we will be getting the next TB. I do expect with
Unforeseen attrition, we'll have a 20-21 class size. If that's the case, I'd like to have a QB. That is without cutting is short in need areas.

  10. Benji, can we get some quick stats on Shane Morris? Please. Is a a pure gun slinger?

  11. I guess I just don't see a true need for a QB unless we can land a top-notch guy, but we'll see. As for Morris, he is legit!! I watched some tape on him and the ball just soars out of his had and he can place the ball wherever he wants. He is a pure passer, for sure. He is very mechanically sound even as a sophomore in HS. Even though he is lefty, he throughs extremely well moving to his right which is very impressive! Morris also has great pocket presence and can scamper a bit. Looks like a true stud that we need to land.

  12. Only stats I could find were that he passed for 1139 yards, 14 touchdowns, with around 56% completion rate. He also runs a 4.63 forty, which is very good for someone considered as a pocket passer.
Those passing yards don't blow you away, but remember that he was only a sophomore, he's got two more seasons of high school football left.

  13. Benji,
Have we been having a lot of recruits visiting over the past week or so? It clearly seems like Hoke and Co. are on a hot streak and hopefully it will continue! Also, any ideas of who you think the next possible commits will be? And, are Dunn and Garmon going to be on campus soon?

  14. Yeh I'd expect Dunn and Garmon in the next few weeks. I don't think either have set a date in stone just yet though.

As for possible commits, well I'm about to post something about one....
