Weekend Notes

Exams on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I'll be camped out at my Uni library for the next couple days. If you have any recruiting questions, probably best to tweet them to me, as it's much easier for me to reply than on blogspot. Anyway, on with the news...

Terry Richardson was on campus today, and a decision could come this week for him, so this is obviously very promising for Michigan. With Ross and RJS in the fold, if he announces soon, it'll definitely be for UM. And that's almost it. Really not a whole lot going on this weekend. But! This week there could/should be some more fireworks.

  1. According to an article on Rivals, we lead for Chris Wormley!! Any more info on this Benji? Hopefully he wants to end his recruitment soon... Also, any reaction from Brionte Dunn's visit?

  2. Since Benji is busy we can keep this going thru the threads! Ryan,I think i read on here that Dunn is keeping things quite about his "other" visits but he did say that the visit was better than expected! I'm no insider or anything but I think the more trouble it looks like for OSU(which at this point looks to be A LOT of trouble) the better our chances get.

  3. I have a feeling that we'll get three more commits this week. I think we'll land Richardson, Diamond, & Wormley.

  4. I think the Diamond commit would be huge! I know he has been a heavy Michigan lean but I think this kid may end up as the cornerstone of this class. He is a smart upstanding kid that you want to build your team around.

  5. In the Toledo Blade there was an article this week on track in which Wormley was mentioned for winning the City League title in discuss and shot put. They said Michigan is his first choice and OSU is still second. Also, he accidentally hit a javelin thrower in the head on a practice discus throw! Hope the kid is alright.

  6. My dream/wish but not completely out of the realm of possibility to finish this class if the class was around 18 would be Richardson, Diamond, Day, Wormley, Dunn, and Burbridge. I know that seems like a lot of wishful thinking, but I sure hope it happens.

  7. @Timbo,I don't find your list all that crazy. We lead for Day,Richardson,Diamond, and Wormley the only "tough" pull will be Dunn.If he wises up and see's the writting on the wall at OSU we stand a shot. Burbridge all comes down to grades and personally I don't see him making it.

  8. Burbridge has an entire year of knuckling down and considering his future to do. He can get his grades up all senior year but if we don't land a WR we don't really need one, especially if we do land 3 TE's. I'd like Brionte Dunn to go to Michigan but mostly because it'd be a coup to steal him, I think Greg Garmon would be equally good if not better on the field. Wormley and Diamond I think are inevitable but Diamond as it stands is our most (universally) highly regarded recruit right now. I still wonder about Jarron Jones. Why only "soft verbal" to PSU? I'm excited about Jaleel Johnson, Sheldon Day, and Ondre Pipkins, but Jones looks like he's in another class all together. If we could swing him it'd be much MUCH bigger than luring Dunn.

  9. Man, Michigans future is as exciting now as it was in the 90's. As many times as I try to pin down a final class I can't guess who we'll get by position. Will we take more than 3 DT's, will we take more than 3 OT's? We could end up with 3 or 4 DB's in a race to commit and if we take a CB and 2 Safeties then skip on a WR or RB or QB? We've taken a qb for 14 straight years but we have 3 scholarship qb's who're currently underclassmen (D'Rob will be a JR of course) plus 2 walk ons and a 2013 commit already. Do we take a 6th string qb at the expense of another lineman in this class? It feels like they're targeting foundational players in this class like Dline and LB's and Oline and TE's and will focus more on skilled ball handlers in the next class but it could shift some after summer.

  10. I think we could also legitimately add Stanford, Washington, and Jarrod Wilson to that list

  13. I would like to give out a BIG CONGRATS to Coach Carr on the College Hall of Fame. I think this is a big deal for Michigan.

  14. Good call Jer89!! Also it sounds like the Mott event is going to be getting even bigger and better next year!

  15. Jer89,
You got it right on Coach Carr. Thought he really took some heat when he retired. This man is a class act and really cared about his players. After this short RR era, old Coach Carr looks pretty good.

  16. Also.....
    Benji,
Just want to thank you for this blog, you’re doing great. (I am a new devout follower) I found you after Hoke became coach just trying to find out about recruits coming and the ones who decided not to come to Michigan after the coaching change. I would be curious it any of those guys have had second thoughts on not going to Michigan. (We will never know) I am just glad our national nightmare with RR is over and that we are moving forward in a positive way. I feel sorry for those osu fans, they are going through hell right now; (just kidding) no I don’t feel sorry for them but I have empathy for them. I guess it could not happen to a better bunch of numb nuts.
