Big Time Updates

Firstly, if you missed it, Kellen Jones "re-affirmed" his commitment to Michigan and probably won't visit Miami on the 28th. This was expected after a hire like Greg Mattison.

- It looks like Blake Countess will end up at Michigan, despite visiting Penn State last weekend. He's had conversations with Coach Hoke and Chris Singletary, and things are looking even better after an in-home visit with Hoke today. Blake did just tweet "those who stay will be champions"; so is his recruitment done now? Probably.

- Floyd Raven (Reserve, LA) will visit Michigan the weekend before signing day after speaking with Coach Fred Jackson and current Wolverine DB, Carvin Johnson. Raven decommitted from Ole Miss last week and has since visited Utah. Ole Miss are still be considered, as are Michigan and Texas A&M.

- Jake Fisher will visit Florida and Oregon this month. This isn't great for Michigan, but it'll probably still come down to Michigan vs MSU unless the Gators or Ducks really wow Fisher, which is of course possible. Has he actually received offers from them yet though? Fisher spoke with Michigan's new OL coach for a couple hours earlier this week.

- Brady Hoke did an in-home visit with Darian Cooper, despite Cooper dropping the Wolverines earlier this month after RR was fired. The visit seems to have paid off, and Cooper will now consider making a January 28th visit to Ann Arbor. The decision to run a 4-3 defense is certainly helping things, and also Cooper is quite familiar with how good a Greg Mattison defense can be, living in Maryland. This is still a longshot right now, but there's hope at least.

  1. Great update. Sounds like Hoke is trying to make up for lost time. Fisher should be priority 1, but its great to hear that we're in on some DL and highly regarded DBs.

  2. I think the DBs and DL are more pressing than Fisher, though he's a great talent. He shouldn't need to be re-recruited to this scale IMO. He should love the school and want to be part of the rebirth of Michigan football.

  11. Didn't Jernigan drop us because he didn't want to be the NT for a 3-3-5?

This is why getting Hoke in here earlier would have helped. I'd think we still have Frost and Jernigan if Brandon didn't wait on a HC. AHHH!
