It's looks like Thomas Rawls could be in Michigan's class after all. The hugely talented in state RB has been in contact with Brady Hoke and Fred Jackson, and whilst he doesn't have an offer yet, he stills plans to take an official visit to Michigan next weekend.
The issue with Rawls has always been his grades, he has a 2.8 core GPA, but scored only a 15 ACT, which he has since retaken. He plans to announce his decision on January 31st, and I fully expect the choice to be Michigan. Here's why:
- It's down to UM and CMU; the later has offered
- Rawls claims there will be a surprise in his decision
- Well choosing CMU won't be a surprise if they are the only offerers - I think the real surprise here is his new ACT score, which he has refused to reveal - I wonder why...(surprise!)
- Michigan wants to offer him; Fred Jackson is so high on him as a prospect
- I think Rawls will inform Michigan of his new ACT score and get an offer on his official next week, then commit to the Wolverines on the 31st!
In doing so, the Wolverines will be getting a 5-foot-10, 210-pound monster who would surely fit in perfectly with the new offense.

ReplyDeleteThomas is be a great addition to this class if we get him. If you haven't watched his video check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoMqyUufmmI I don't know anything about the caliber of competition that he is playing against. But he is a man among boys on the field. He has a great burst and out runs any angle of pursuit. He has has a great juke move and can run over people. I believe that he is a better running back than Justice Hayes. Reminds me alot of Mike Hart but faster in the open field.
ReplyDeleteRawls school FLint Nothern plays Class C schools. And they beat the likes of former Class C state champs Saginaw... They started the year shaky and ended well
ReplyDeleteWell...add Keith Heitzman to the 2010 incoming class....!
ReplyDeleteBtw Benji, im from Grand Blanc i know Justice. Ive watched him play and you are going to like what you see. ON and off the field... he's a great guy. Ive seen Rawls play, im not sure if his personality is going to mesh with the team as well as Justices. Dont get me wrong a michigan man is a michigan man, but they come from very different backgrounds. m kind of half expecting Rawls to get suspended for something in one of his 3-4 years at Michigan or CMU
ReplyDeleteRawls is regarded by many as the best back in the state, and probably the one most suited to our new offense. D-Rich, you're right in saying that Justice Hayes is a good kid, I follow him on Twitter and everything and he really loves Michigan and generally seems like a good guy.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it's a bit harsh of you to assume Rawls will get in trouble whilst playing college ball. He struggled academically sure, but he made a real effort in the classroom so he could get to Ann Arbor in the first place. He'll truly appreciate that scholarship offer if/when it comes.
IM not questioning his love for michigan its his background im questioning, i know its kind of hrash but i dont know any one from North Flint who doesnt have a criminal record at the age of 5. I know im stereo typing, and if im wrong then i'll eat my words. Im putting my money on J.Hayes, he's always the guy trying to avoid getting in trouble and putting class first. i think he will start, watch for the pitch from drob to hayes on the outside. that play was used alot here in GB. Ive told him we need to get DeAnthony to stay, his biggest problem with michigan was they run the spread and he wants to play pro style..... which we have now! welll maybe lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why D Rich would say something like that about a high school kid, I've been around Thomas Rawls for the last two years, he hasn't had trouble in school at all from a disciplinary standpoint, that's a shame for someone to bash another person over the internet
ReplyDeleteMichigan will get a great player and also a great person, he battled back from academic trouble when everybody else counted him out. Its a reason why most people in the state think he's the best RB in the state
I don't get the appeal with Rawls. He's a 3 star to all the sites and his offer list is very unimpressive. His academics are a question and his ceiling seems low. He runs a 4.7 forty according to ESPN, slow for a RB. RB is not a position where depth is a problem. Why should anyone be excited about his commit when Hopkins offers the same skills?
ReplyDeleteI'm from the Northside of Flint, lived on the Northside for 24 years, I'm kind of sad that people stereotype ALL of us as criminals, I don't have a criminal record at all, have a bachelor degree from University of Michigan-Flint, so its good people from around this place.
ReplyDeleteAnd if knew something about J. Hayes he wasn't recruited as a RB to Michigan
it was a jokw fella's. andd yes i know he was recruited as slot. he is the better athlete, Rawls will end up with the FB spot. im was just stating that some people from the North side are sketchy, maybe its because we have one of the highest crime rates in the country. I'll stay in Grand Blanc where its safe to walk around at night
ReplyDelete@Dolatamat: There's a difference between quick and fast, but Rawls is both. He's pretty quick (scout says 4.5 forty) and he's very fast (10.8seconds 100m). Scout's analysts have also said that if he had his academics sorted earlier, he'd probably be a four star; they don't give over 3* unless they are qualified.
ReplyDeleteHe's had a lot of interest from Wisconsin and Iowa; would have got offers if he qualified earlier.
Many people believe Rawls to be the top RB in the state this year, and we know Fred Jackson is really really high on him.
That's why there is a buzz around this guy; unlimited potential.
People worry to much about the star system. There are a lot of 3 star players that go on to do great things (i.e. Mike Hart and David Molk). Look up the Rivals 100 from past years. You will see players that didn't end up doing anything in college. Who are any of us to say that a players ceiling is low. Rawl's high school coach Fred Jacksons son. Maybe it's just me but I get the impression that the Jackson know a little about running back. If Fred Jackson wants this kid to play for Michigan then I believe that this kid might be able to do something at the next level.
ReplyDeleteD. Rich is the reason Thomas works so hard! Eat your word like you said you would! And get your knowledge up. Flint northern is division 2 which is class A in the state of Michigan! 7 out of the 9 schools we played we're class A. By the way, Thomas didn't even play those 2 games (injury)...Saginaw
