Visitors updates

To say this recruiting weekend went well would be a huge understatement. Michigan scored three commits yesterday, and its looking like two more might join the fold.

- As I tweeted a few hours ago (follow me on Twitter!!!), Frank Clark really enjoyed his trip to Michigan. He's being recruited for defense by the way; which gave Greg Mattison the chance to show off his recruiting skills that we've been hearing about. Clark got to hang out with Denard, Devin and Cam Gordon; who all made a big impression on him.

Michigan was a co-leader for Clark during the season, but he's really liking the new coaching staff; if he were to announce tomorrow, it would be Michigan. As it turns out, we'll have to wait until Friday, so hopefully nothing will go wrong between now and then.

- Leilon Willingham doesn't have his announcement date set just yet, but whenever it is, you should probably expect him to pick Michigan. Leilon is a big fan of Greg Mattison, and he was blown away by what Michigan has to offer. Willingham got on well with the players (Denard is a recruiting tool like no other!) and also the other recruits like Justice Hayes and Frank Clark.

Justice Hayes tweeted that one more visitor planned to commit, and Sam Webb is saying there could be at least one silent commit right now. Just got to figure out which one it could be...

In other news:

- Tony Posada is once again a firm commitment to Michigan

- Darian Cooper had a very good time on his Iowa trip, he visited with a current teammate (Cyrus Kouandjio: top10 player nationally) and got hosted by a former teammate in Marcus Coker. The Hawkeyes could be tough to top right now. As for Michigan, well Greg Mattison got in contact with Cooper after the Iowa trip, so maybe he's convinced him to visit next weekend, thats all we can hope for.

- Hakeem Flowers has committed to N.C State, this makes some sense after last nights post that Michigan pulled his offer.

  1. No word on Stefan McClure though. That's too bad. He seemed like we had a shot and now with Floyd Raven possible going to Alabama we could have used him.

  2. He enjoyed his visit, and Michigan still has a chance, but I just dont think we lead right now. No-one seems to be confident over landing him.

  3. It sould be nice to land some top 100 talent but we might just have to wait til next year for this to happen. Michigan will only get better and now we have some pieces to hopefully complete the puzzle.

  4. Isn't Justice Hayes really good friends with DeAnthony Arnett. Maybe just maybe he can convince him to come back and play with Michigan. There could be something up the sleeve of coach Hoke when they decided not to persue Flowers.

  6. Its just been tough this year. Our hopes have been dashed one too many times and my heart is hurting because of it. Clemson over Michigan in recruiting. It just makes me sick. 7-6 Clemson too. I can understand Tennessee but Clemson, come on man

  7. Why is everyone hung up on Arnett, he's going to Tennessee. As far as I know he's not indicated in any way that he's wavering on that commitment. Same as Zettel.

  8. I would say Bryant is the silent commit, but everyone probably knows that And McClure, I think he is a homebody and the distance will be tough for him, but probably in the top 2.

Would LOVE to get Poole LB and Alexander DE next week. Along with Raven and get 2 out of the 3. To me that would be a HUGE boost.

  9. Sam Webb is probably talking about Rawl as being the silent commit. Sam loves Rawl and from the sound of it he got his scores up enough to get a offer and excepted on the spot.

  10. If Michigan can getg 8 wins next season they will have a great shot at getting alot of quality recruits for the 2012 class. Michigan is going to be loaded with talent next season and with us switching to the 4-3 we have a chance at the premier DT's in the country.

  11. Webb is definitely referencing either Clark or Willingham as a silent commit, possibly both. I think he views Rawls as a lock, not a silent. That's just the way I interpreted it. I think we'll end up with all three, so it doesn't really matter which one or two are silent!

  12. WIllingham, Rawls & Bryant are blue as solid unless something goes wrong, Clark is very close, McClure will stay out west Ucla or Cal. Don't see Raven in AA. That makes 18 total commits.

    We will see what happens.

  13. Ok- eights win next season should not be a problem- this is how it will/should go down
WINS- Western Michigan, Notre Dame, Eastern Michigan, San Diego St., Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, and Illinois-
Losses- Ohio St, Nebraska, Iowa, and Michigan St

That being said- we could beat Iowa and Michigan St and lose to Notre Dame, so a possiblity of 9 wins. Anything less than 8 is a huge disappointment

If the stars align, we could be 10 and 0 going into the Nebraska game with both Nebraska and Ohio St at home.

  14. Benji I agree I think Clark and Willingham are both solid for blue. I also think that Rawl and Bryant are solid on blue as well. For some strange reason I still feel like we are going to end up with a high profile commit that we don't know about. It will most likely be on the defensive side of the ball. The coaching staff is working there tails off. Reaching out to anyone and everyone that will listen. With Mattison we might just do it.
