For those of you wondering, Floyd Raven has not committed to Texas A&M, despite reports on ESPN. Right now Floyd is scheduled to visit Michigan this weekend, but that might change if he gets an offer from Alabama.
If the Tide offer, he'll head off to Tuscaloosa, and that'll be the end of it for Michigan. Even if he does visit Ann Arbor, I'm still not liking our chances. Clearly Michigan is trailing other schools right now, and given the amount of young DB's we're going to have next year, the depth chart would be off putting to Raven.
In other news:
Greg Mattison was in Darian Cooper's school today, and the talk went well enough for Cooper to have an in-home visit with Mattison tonight. I can't help but feel Cooper is slowly warming to the new staff, and that he'll probably take the official this weekend.
Brady Hoke had an in-home with Stefan McClure yesterday; no word on how it went just yet, so for now, UCLA and Cal are still the favorites.
Benji, have you heard anything about Devin's redshirt?
ReplyDeleteNothing official on that matter just yet. In theory he should get it because he had an injury and didn't see the field after the fourth game.
ReplyDeleteLoving the Cooper news, just hope its not too late
ReplyDeletethanks benj, updated my site with the good news that raven is still in the mix.
ReplyDeletecooper is priority for me right now.
also, are you gonna get around to doing "hello" posts for this weekend's 3 commits? i link you on my 2011 recruiting board, along with mgoblog's "hello" posts.

I've been meaning to get around to them Jeff, but I've got uni exams on right now, so I haven't had much time to work on them. Last exam on Friday, so after that I can really focus on the build up to signing day and upgrading the site with some new features.
ReplyDeleteDevon Moreland a 4 star DE out of Cal was visted yesterday in school by Michigan. They want him to come out for a visit this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis coaching staff is working there a$$es off. Can't wait to see what they do with a full year to recruit.
this is completely unacceptable. lol, good luck on your exams.
ReplyDelete@kkopp
ReplyDeleteIve been saying the same they are doing an amazing job in such short time. ..Just think if we got rid of RR after the OSU debacle and hired Hoke right away... But next years class should be great
Michigan all of a sudden has a two headed recruiting monster...about damn time!
ReplyDeletei wouldn't get ahead of ourselves here... hoke/mattison deserve their due credit for salvaging this class and getting new names to pop up on the grid. but that's the nature of any head coaching transition.
ReplyDeleteyour comments imply that RR was not a good recruiter, which is not true. i'm not arguing he should have stayed, but had he did, mich would likely have 2 5-stars in this class with hart and frost.
i say this often, but it makes you wonder what damage RR/mattison could have done in these final weeks.
Jeff I really doubt that mattison would have came if RR was still here. But I do agree RR did all this good recruiting while his name was dragged thru the mud. Impressive. But either way Hoke/ Mattison are doing a great job on the defensive side but I wonder if they can have the same type of success on offense recruiting? Either way whoever our coach was we were gonna win 8, 9 or 10 games next year guranteed with how easy our schedule was. Either way Go Blue!
ReplyDeleteStefan McClure has set an announcement date according to Rivals.com
ReplyDeleteDon't get too excited about McClure. TomVH tweeted that Michigan is not in his final four.
ReplyDeleteDee Hart was wavering before RR got fired. He was listed as a soft commit at the end and went to Ala. bowl game over Mich. I believe that Frost ended up choosing Auburn because he wants to play WR and they said that he could. Michigan all along wanted him as a LB. I don't think we end up with either of them if RR is still the coach.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is that kids that weren't even considering Michigan while RR was the coach are know given them a look.
I think that Michigan may still have a shot at Raven if Alabama doesn't offer before the end of the week. If we can get him on campus they might be able to sell him.
