Keith Heitzman commits

Ohio TE/DE Keith Heitzman has become the latest member of Michigan's 2011 recruiting class, and the second lured in by Brady Hoke. Heitzman was a former Vanderbilt commitment but flipped to Michigan today after receiving an offer yesterday.

I don't think anyone knows a whole lot about him just yet, and we're not even sure if he'll play DE or TE at Michigan. I'd guess TE right now, but if they land Frank Clark and Chris Barnett, then he could move over to defense.

*EDIT*: Ignore the above, Michigan recruited him as a defensive end.

Commitment post to follow soon.

  2. I concern recent recruiting. Looks like Brady prodigalize scholarship to fill just the number. It is not important how many students we have. Important, how they good are. It doesn't look good.

  3. I was kind of excited when i saw his picture cause i thought it was the the RB/LB from florida named Ryan Petro. He is like 6'3" and 220 lbs and runs a 4.6. Then i saw he played TE/DE and I was like dang not the guy i was hoping it was. Oh well this guy looks like he will be a project recruit who will be a beast when he adds some weight to his frame

  4. @ Loveroftroy

How do you know how good these players are ?? Just because they arent 4* or 5* doesnt mean they wont produce big time or become superstars..The odds of any freshmen being stars their 1st year of college are slim..So with that being said if these guys are hardworkers and and put in the effort to become better then by their Soph or Jr year this may be a very good pick up...I just tell everyone dont get caught up in these rankings give the class 2 or 3 years to see how good these players are

  5. Just read a couple comments from this guy and when asked why he accepted the scholarship right away he said he couldn't pass up the chance to one day have an oppurtunity to play in "The Game". He is an Ohio kid who wants to beat OSU as a Wolverine. This is great to hear.

  6. named 1st-Team All-State in Ohio's largest division at defensive end, ahead of a pair of Ohio State commits and Wisconsin-bound Jesse Hayes. All-Columbus Defensive Player of the Year honors.

  7. This is great! we have a Coach that is gonna create depth in the secondary. It dosen't matter at this point how many stars they have, it just matters that we fill out scholarships with good players this year that will be solid 2 yrs from now, and I pray for atleast 1 or 2 D tackles. If any Mich fans think we should hold out on filling these scholarships cause you want 5 star athletes next year, well then it would be like we are imposing sanctions on ourselves this year. Mich can't do that we need depth. A small class this year means a tiny senior class in 4 years, and that is bad if you wanna win the BIGTEN.

  8. I agree with UMFAN323. Be patient and take a wait and see attitude. All these guys have to be coached up,beefed up and learn a new system from the one they knew in high school. Hoke is working his butt off it seams. I am just happy about that. Everyone said he could recruit. He still has another weekend. Maybe its going to get better. You never know. Guys are decommitting and recommitting like crazy. Just look at ESPNU. Read the ticker. Its not over till signing day and then there will be good players who will wait. We could fill 20 to 21 recruits in this class. Not bad for the new coach.
